Also an increased misfire chance with alchemical cartridges.

Aithaloessa Cyana |

The difference between reloading as a free action or not.
Not even, sadly: a pepperbox is a primitive boomstick compared to a proper revolver, so even with alchemical cartridges, it’s a move action to reload each barrel.
I’m overthinking this.
Sorry, I don’t mean to be ungrateful. I know Aith being ready helps everyone, but I feel kind of guilty letting her be front-loaded with goodies, and I know I’m a bit of a prima donna, in terms of sharing the spotlight.
Anyway: how about a compromise: have the nice wooden box count as a beneficial bandolier, and from time to time Aith will at least handwave grinding some saltpeter and casting / dropping shot in downtime?
For what it’s worth, I’m thinking she might work towards the Spell Cartridges feat, just because I’m far too amused by the idea of imaginary bullets that actually work for my own good. “Bang!” :) So in the longer term, it should all work out.
* * *
And now for something completely different: it occurs to me that we should start a band. Yasmeena on the oud, Antarah on the flute, Aith singing (because of the Magaambyan spellcasting trad) – we just need to find Tariq an instrument. :)

Tariq Ibn Ziyad |

A move action if you don't take the Rapid Reload feat. Which you're going to take, I guess, tight?
Let me be honest and express my opinion.
I don't know where your build is going, if you're going straight Arcanist from now on (which is superb, Arcanists are my fav arcane full casters), or if you're going for a more Gunmagish thing. Whatever. Thing is, you were granted a special item, and one of its perks is patching the need for ammo. I say take it as it is, enjoy it and use it for the party's wellbeing. Trust in the GM's good judgement, only she knows what's coming ahead and how much might you need this gift.

Or.... Tariq can be the random dancer from the Mighty Mighty Boss Tones.

Aithaloessa Cyana |

Got it, thanks, all!
I think we agreed on the nice wooden box to be a box of endless ammunition. Can't find it right now, but that makes melting lead mugs into tiny balls obsolete.
There is a mot so small difference in self fabricated bullets and using them with black powder to a box full of alchemical cartridges when it comes to reloading.
Let’s just go with a box of endless cartridges that can be conjured into one’s weapon, then.
I’m fine with a liberal application of handwavium and/or “wizards giveth, and wizards taketh away.” Far be it for anyone from the Mana Wastes to make a fuss about weird magic that can’t be explained. :)

Team, I'm really curious about what happens in the story. What do you think? I get the feeling we're going to have to fight the five genies. We'll probably have to get some fire resistance too.
Another thing: I re-read the monastery and remember that statue which led to the secret alchemy lab? Someone tried destroying that statue and failed. Someone with an axe. I wonder if it was Kardswann. What was he trying to hide there?

Or find their desiccated remains. Oh no. Are we the reboot?
And now I’m imagining some neckbeardy Pathfinder Chronicles fan in Absalom: “This whole Age of Lost Omens arc is getting out of hand. So what, nu-Vardishal is some skinny elf chick? Mneh, at least she’s kinda hot. And the half-orc would make a pretty cool Kardswann…” ;)
Or whatever, until such time as we recover all the relics. Do the other weapons work for folks for handedness and such? One of the Templars did use a scimitar, right? For Yasmeena?
Dashki will report and the whole caravan will arrive next day about an hour after sunrise.
Buzt just for RPing I want to know where you go to rest for the night. ;)
As a princess-y elf, I have to call dibs on the fancy bed upstairs. :)

Aithaloessa Cyana |

So Almah's not hoping to use the presidential suite or however we're meant to think of the Pactmaster quarters? Well, Aith might be able to get one night of comfort at least. She can use the excuse that she was just making sure there are no peas making a nuisance of themselves for when her ladyship arrives. :)

Foxy Quickpaw |

Just some ooc info: The pactmasters wouldn't sink down to using those rooms. If they somewhen deem Kelmarane worthy of their presence they'd reside in the palace.
But seriously, decide in gameplay where you lie down for the night. Obvious options are Kardswann's bed, gnoll guard quarters (which are on every floor) or the rented out cells. Nothing hinders you to sleep whereever else there is a place to lie down though.
I'll roll for number and size of the bedbugs then.

Yasmeena |

Yasmeena would prefer to sleep as close to where Haleen is sleeping as possible.

Yasmeena |

Enh, how about in the next room?

![]() |

Woot! We were level 3 only to fight Kardswann, and we barely won!
Level 2 spells learned: Frigid Touch & Mirror Image.

Aithaloessa Cyana |

Including, one might hope, learning when they’re pushing their luck. *Sniffles and wipes tear from her eye.* They grow up so fast! :)
Or at least grow into something. In Aith’s case, mostly the sort of lunatic mage she was always meant to be. With possibly a splash of Dirty Harry, only with chaos magic. (Gestures with handful of alarmingly unidentifiable material components): “The question you have ta ask yourself is, ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya, punk?”
Don't worry: it's purely recreational and for when the numbers are on the party's side, for that amount of randomness. The actual spells (rather than exploit) she's taking this time are dreadfully responsible: jury-rig, longshot.

Aithaloessa Cyana |

Yasmeena laughs. "My dearest sister, in the story of the song, I'm not the one who found Haleen that day. You are!" With a sly look she adds, "And Kardswann found you, as well, to his ruin." Exuberantly, she pulls her friend back up to a standing position and prepares to spar again. "You were masterful, the true star of the dance. You saved us! Soon everyone will know that you are the champion of Kelmarane. The ultimate victor of the battle market!"
I just wanted to say that I've really enjoyed your posts about settling into the battle market and bantering with Haleen. :)
It's the sort of genial bardliness I've never been able to channel. Fortunately the stuffy court poet archetypes and Findeladlara exist for some of us.

Yasmeena |

Aw, thanks! I get the impression Aith and Yasmeena are a lot alike, but maybe more comfortable among folks of different class levels. Aith seems to do really well with Garavel, the Princess, and the harpy. I always really enjoy Aith’s social posts too. Also it really impresses me how you seem to always have a good grasp of the plot and the party’s goals, where Yasmeena tends to get distracted and doesn’t really think about tomorrow.

Aithaloessa Cyana |

On plot-holes and wasting artifact seals to lock up minor demons: I guess that means either there's a lot of dreadfully powerful ancient bric-a-brac in Golarion, or the economics of sponsoring magical research are even more obscene than one might fear?
King1: "I don't care! Let's see what you've been able to do with 10 years and a zillion of my gold, wizard!" I'm not sure which is a more unsettling possibility. :)
It occurs to me that with the night elapsed between meeting Garavel and meeting Almah, I'm guessing we were able to heal up properly?

@Team: Do any of us have good UMD? I was thinking Unbreakable Heart is potentially a good protection spell. And it stacks with Prot From Evil.

Yasmeena |

Yasmeena has pretty good UMD. But unbreakable heart is on both the bard and the warpriest spell lists, so either Yasmeena or Tariq could cast it without trouble.

![]() |

I have invested in Craft Weapons, but I suppose it's not the same. Is there any way to use that instead of an untrained check?

![]() |

Damn, that's nice gear... Any dibs? I imagine Yas will want the Charisma. Antarah would return Oxvard's gear, but would borrow the Cold Iron Mace for the demon fight.
I already got a magical ring, I think it would go nicely to Tariq. The resistance bonus fits everyone. I think Tariq can wear the chainmail as well? I have to wait a while before I can wear medium armor (level 7). The bull's strength is good for all of us, I think? The silversheen might indicate we have some lycanthrope to face. The nat armor is good for both me and Tariq as well. And the spider climbing is for all of us.

Foxy Quickpaw |

Oxvard and Zastoran?
Whom are you comparing yourself too? I did a quick check on Katapesh (the city) and the best you can get there for Sarenrae is a level 8 Pally. For other faiths it is Cleric of Gozreh 8, Abadar 7, Shelyn 5, Cayden 7, Torag 6. And that for a megacity with a population of over 200.000.
Your chances of personally knowing someone of the flock who was more powerful than you are now, are pretty slim.
Though I can see where you come from. You got all that power within three weeks, while others like Father Zastoran are at it for decades.

![]() |

If no one claims any of the gear, I'll claim all of it!

Yasmeena |

Yasmeena takes the Charisma cloak-- I've added it to her sheet. I'd also love to give her one of the AC-boosting items, either the ring or the amulet, depending on what everyone else takes.

![]() |

I'll take an AC ring then. My AC is still a lowly 14. The resistance bonus should go to the lowest Will Save which is Aith. Tariq takes bull's strength, then?

Aithaloessa Cyana |

Along with the save-boosting cloak, Aith will glom onto the slippers for now, if no one minds, as part of her efforts to find new and inventive ways to stay out of melee, as the resident squishy wizard.
But I’m also fine with the slippers going to one of you more melee-focused folks in case we get jumped by climbing creepy-crawlies.

![]() |

Nah, slippers are for sleepers. Take it and shoot from upside down!

Tariq Ibn Ziyad |

So wand of BS and MWK Chainmail for me. Cloak, ring and slippers already assigned. Who wants the amulet?

Aithaloessa Cyana |

Nah, slippers are for sleepers.
And ballerinas! And given Aith's last performance, Yaz won't have to worry about her toes being stepped on. Or, then again, maybe all too literally. Right. *Sigh.* As a wild mage, I suppose it's only fitting for Aith to be an alarmingly loose cannon.
So wand of BS and MWK Chainmail for me. Cloak, ring and slippers already assigned. Who wants the amulet?
Yasmeena mentioned wanting the amulet. With that sorted, we should just remember to let you get first pick the next time we find something neat, Tariq.
Hmm. With dervishes and magi and warpriests (oh my!), I should really start thinking about ways to minimize the risk of friendly spellfire, shouldn’t I, as we nudge towards the levels that fireballs and such become an option? :)

![]() |

Scary...
Anyway, I have a feeling that we'll be meeting a lot of fire resistance in.... Legacy of Fire!
Perhaps something more subtle? I don't know much about the arcanist class, so I don't know if you specialize. Does Aith mean to focus on the Evocation school?

Tariq Ibn Ziyad |

Does Aith mean to focus on the Evocation school?
I honestly hope not, given she started as a different class.
