More over, how is the synthesizing of the medication coming?
I think when last we left the good doctor, she was involved in this Extended Task:
No help, but you have 2 Success from your roll, K'Rist. So Success and 1 Momentum. Since this is an Extended Task, you can roll Challenge Dice to determine how much work you get done. You get 2 Challenge Dice+ Challenge dice equal to your relevant Discipline (Medicine 5). So roll 7d6. You can use Momentum to reroll any number of those dice, to make the Task take only one interval (6 hours, normally takes two intervals), or to add 1 Work.

GM SuperTumbler |

For the interrogation, what you want is the Social Combat Rules starting on page 164. Oh how I wish there were an online SRD for this game.
You are clearly going about this in an intimidation task. You are in a good position, so I'll say your Difficulty is 0. You generate 2 Momentum, one from Sobek's success and one from the Captain's assist.
Captain resistance Difficulty 1: 2d20 ⇒ (20, 13) = 33
The Nausicaan paces behind the force field of the brig cell, clearly furious. "You can address me as Captain, Tloch, Vulcan, and you can save your threats. I know enough of Federation law to know that you aren't going to throw a prisoner out an airlock. No, Captain, we were not expecting a ship like yours to show up. We were hired anonymously, via The Exchange. Our employer provided the decoy drone and payed us to attack whatever vessel responded to the distress call. We did not expect someone as heavily armed as you, but a deal is a deal on The Exchange."
Tloch is pissed, and you have intimidated him, despite his attempt to save face. He gains a trait: Afraid of Amity Justice. He'll be fairly cooperative unless you put him in danger, which will require another opposed task.

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The Captain smoothes out her skirt and moves toward the prisoner and says, "Let me first explain to you what is going on because it seems "The Exchange" may have misled you a bit. Being a Privateer you must be a decent starfarer, so you know you are close to Duorap IV, since you are no doubt experienced in this game of piracy you were most likely monitoring communications coming from that planet, so you are undoubtedly aware that they are having an outbreak and that is a Tellarite colony. Now, you are an accessory to genocide. What you do not know is, my operations manager is a Tellarite and my ship is a mixed species ship and well I might give him the opportunity for a four wall session. No matter, who was your contact on the Exchange? How were you going to get paid? and what are your codes for the Exchange?"
Persuasion/Diplomacy with momentum 3d20 ⇒ (9, 9, 15) = 33

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

She says, "Give me your codes, ID number and the like. You do that, we keep you out of sight for awhile and we take down those who wanted to see Duorap IV perish and then you can go your merry way."

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

She says, "For full immunity, I am going to require you help us set up a meeting. I think we may have an accord."

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

Sounds good to me... just have him agree to cooperate and we can set up a sting operation or something to figure out who the real bad guys were.
The Captain has her assistant put together a clemency agreement and makes her way back to the bridge.
She says, "Mr. Barstow, once we have arrived at Duorap IV open up a hailing frequency!"

K'Rist |

Challenge Dice: 7d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 1, 2, 1, 4) = 17
That's 6, and I'll spend Momentum to reroll one of the 4s.
Challenge Dice reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 1
So a total of 7 and no effects.

K'Rist |

Xin, I'm happy to have your assistance, if you wish to help. K'Rist is proud and stubborn, but not stupid.
K'Rist swears to herself as the computer once again fails her. "It would be nice if someone at Starfleet kept the databases updated."
Reason + Medicine: 2d20 ⇒ (4, 7) = 11 Computer Aid: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Two successes and no help from the computer again. Another 7 Challenge Dice? (Assuming yes.)
Challenge Dice: 7d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 1, 5, 1, 2) = 19
7 and two events.

GM SuperTumbler |

By the time you approach Dourap IV, most of the ruined medicine has been replaced, thanks to K'Rist and Xin-Yalix pulling an all nighter.
As you approach, everything appears in order with the colony. Unexpectedly, there is a ship hanging in orbit.
The ship has a saucer section not completely unlike a federation ship, but there the similarities end. Connected to the saucer is a sort of bulb shape, and from there, a vertical ring encircling an armature tipped with glowing spheres. The ship's computer identifies it as an Orion Scout ship, a very fast vessel with an unusual warp drive.

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The Captain raises the Amity's shields and says, "I had a hunch it was the Orions. Yellow Alert. Open hailing for the surface, lock phasers on the Orion ship. Then hail the Orion ship."

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The captain speaks to Duorap IV "Duorap IV this is the USS Amity, we have the supplies you were looking for and we are here to help."

Lt. Sobek |
Yes Captain. Suppressing his pleasure at the idea of combat, Sobek activates Yellow Alert and locks phasers on the Orion.
Hailing frequencies now open, Captain.

Cmdr. Xin-Yalix |

Xin-Yalix scans the Orion ship, attempting in particular to get its readiness state.
Reason + Science: 2d20 ⇒ (1, 15) = 16
Amity: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Technical Expertise on the Amity dice!
Amity: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Whoo, that was close.

GM SuperTumbler |

A Tellarite male in grey coveralls appears on the viewscreen in response to your hail. "This is Chief Medical Engineer Jaath. It's good you are finally here, Amity. We were expecting you earlier. Fortunately, the Katam arrived with a supply of medication, which we were able to acquire for a reasonable price. Enter orbit and we will transmit coordinates for you to transport whatever supplies you have brought, as well as the medical team."
The Orion ship is broadcasting the ID "Lady Katam." It was in a stable geosynchronous orbit until the Amity locked phasers on it. Now its shields are coming up and weapons are being charged.
You can ask one more question, Xin-Yalix.

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The Captain says, "Will do. We had a distress call and a saboteur, whom I think you would not mind to take off of our hands."
Then hails the Lady Katam, "Orion ship, this is the USS Amity of the Federation. We would like to thank you for you assisting Duorap IV and suggest you return to Orion space forthwith. You are currently in violation of the Orion Neutrality Act. Failure to vacate, will provoke violence."
Persuasion 3d20 ⇒ (9, 10, 9) = 28

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The Captain making a mental note of what this man looks like, knowing the scarcity of the disease and the unlikelihood that the Orions of all people would so happen to have the cure available from conversations she had had with the medical on her team says, "Well, Captain have a delightful day and send my regards to Counsillor Refner."
She waits until the Orion ship has departed and then says, "Mr. Barstow, take us to the coordinates that Engineer Jaath has provided to us."
She then flips open her communicator and says, "Dr. K'rist, have the medical supplies brought to the transporter room."

Cmdr. Cooper Barstow |

Coop acknowledges the order and keys in the coordinates that allow for easy progression to an orbital altitude over the transport coordinates.
Should be a zero success necessary roll, I think. Probably better to allow the routine action rather than risk me inevitably rolling 20s:)

Gullerg bav Khebloss |

Gullerg talks to the captain.
"Captain, I will go to the transport room to supervise the transfer of the supplies, if it is ok with you."
If allowed, we will go mumbling on his way curses towards the Orion's, taking advantage of the Tellerite suffering for their benefit.

GM SuperTumbler |

Xin, the Orion Scout is armed with phasers and photon torpedoes. They are modern enough, equivalent to Starfleet standards.
Coop brings the Amity into orbit, preparing for the distribution of the medicine to the colonies medical centers.
Gullerg moves to the transporter room to transfer the supplies as the Doctor arrives with the medicine.
You guys are going to have to talk about what to do next. I don't think having the Captain make all of the decisions is fun for anyone, but I think she might feel pressure to drive things along.

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

I am not trying to dominate the game but I do want the game to move forward. I like playing in games with a good pace. I probably live in a different time zone than the rest of you. I have tried to communicate with different crewmember to get them involved.
She talks to the planet, "Engineer Jaath, is there anything else we can assist you with?"

Lt. Sobek |
Is it well know that this planet is in need? I find it interesting that the Orion ship just happen to arrive right before us with supplies at a 'reasonable' price. Charging for medicine doesn't sound very humanitarian. Is it possible that the Orion ship coordinated the sabotage on our ship to delay our arrival thus increasing their potential profits?
Captain, I suggest we send a security detail with the away team to ensure their safety. Something about this situation doesn't appear logical.

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

That is the most likely scenario. We are members of Starfleet not the Klingons so we kind of have to allow them to leave. Since we do not have proof. My character's Andorian proclivity would be to just destroy them but those Green Skins... :)
The captain says, "That sounds like a great idea. You might like to bring Helmsly with you to hand him off to their criminal division. I have a feeling once we explain how he is the reason they had to pay for the medicine, they will have some fun with him."

Lt. Sobek |
Understood Captain. I'll gather the team and join the away team.
Sobek will gather a team of four security team members, as well as Helmsly, and head to the transporter room.

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The Captain says, "Granted."
The Captain will probably join the away team, if not to speak to Jaath in person.

GM SuperTumbler |

Ok, so we are sending everyone but Coop and Xin to the surface. That actually works really well. If you want to be involved in both shipboard and planetside scenes, please feel free to create a Supporting Character as described on page 134 of the Core Book. Xin and Coop could create security or medical officers, anyone going with the away team could create a Tactical officer or Engineering Officer, or another medical officer who remains onboard, or something else that strikes your fancy. Doing this will make running the scenario easier, but if you don't want to, we can figure it out.
The Away Team, Captain Tharhat, Gullerg, Sobek, and Doctor K'Rist, along with some security personnel, step onto the transporter pad, with a container of medical supplies in the center of the pad. There is a familiar shimmer and the sound of a transporter as the transporter room disappears and a medical facility appears. This appears to be a landing bay or hanger. Where small craft would usually be housed, there are many makeshift cubicles set up as treatment areas. Each cubicle houses a single Tellarite on a medical bed. The sounds of so many medical stations fill the room with a sussoration of low sounds.
Chief Medical Engineer Jaath awaits your arrival. "Welcome, Captain. Thank you for bringing the supplies. As you can see, things are nearly out of hand here. This is the largest outbreak in 40 years."

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The Captain says, "Well, I am glad we can still be of assistance. We have brought one of the people responsible for stalling our arrival and if you can have him transferred to a penal colony, that would be delightful." as she hands over Helmsly to the Tellarites.
She then continues, "Is there anything else we can assist you with whilst we are in your neighborhood?"

GM SuperTumbler |

"This is a most unusual infestation of d'kar fever. I would not begrudge a second opinion from your medical staff if you would be willing to look over some of the infected. We have been treating them with the daronite we acquired from the Orion ship, but the treatment is not going as well as would be expected."

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The Captain says, "We have both our ship Dr. K'rist and we have brought with us the originator of the vaccine Dr. Stoorer and in concert, I believe they will be successful. Is it possible for our medical staff to scan the stuff you have received from the Orions. We strongly believe the Orions are at fault for your misfortune. They may have made the vaccine just good enough to keep people alive but not good enough to cure the disease."

Gullerg bav Khebloss |

Thanks. Let's say Gullerg remembers her from a long time ago, and he might be mistaken/forgotten important information or be right on the spot. You know, you think you ended with her in the best of terms, and she loathes you. Or vice-versa. What he remembers is:
She is a Xenobiologist.
He almost married her.
She didn't want to have a long-distance relationship and dumped him when he left for Starfleet.
Maybe Gullerg doesn't accept it, but even as he have had some relationships, they have been shallow and quick. She was the one for him, and he had never forgotten her.
Personality Traits (that he thinks):
- Brave
- Stubborn
- Puts her head over her heart.
Now... is she sick? Or does she seems healthy?

Cmdr. Xin-Yalix |

Commander Xin0Talix is keeping a careful eye on the Orion ship while trying to make sure that no one else sneaks up on the Amity.

GM SuperTumbler |

The Orion ship did break orbit. Xin-Yalix tracks it with long range sensors, ensuring that the ship is actually leaving and not loitering.
Underneath the strong scent of disinfectant and ozone generators, Gullerg catches something out of the corner or his eye. His vision is not terribly acute, but he could not forget the smell of his former intended. Following his nose, he passes two grey cubicles before stopping at a curtained opening. He pulls the curtain aside and sees his formerly intended on a sickbed.

Fleet Capt. Aytthi Tharhat |

The Captain says, "Mr. Khleboss, make sure not to get infected."
She then walks with her Medical officer and Jaath and says, "Dr. was the Orion's version of medicine tampered with, why is it not so effective against the virus?"

K'Rist |

Good question.
Insight + Medicine: 2d20 ⇒ (16, 14) = 30
Two successes. What say you GM?
