Welcome one and all! I'm happy that all of you showed interest and submitted some interesting characters. I hope you'll enjoy this silly adventure while it lasts.

You should have all received a link to the DnD Beyond campaign in the PM I sent. Please go ahead and create your characters there. If you need some assistance, I'll help however I can. Once everyone's ready I'll get the game rolling, but in the meantime, we can get everyone introduced and get the banter going.

We have at least two bards and a wizard. I should probably explore another class for Corso. DM, let me know if you have thoughts on the matter.

Part of what I would like for Corso is the ability to connect with pigeons. As such, ranger and druid seem like good alternate options, but he could just as well like pigeons without the power to speak with them... Perhaps when the full party composition is known, a big hole will appear and options will become obvious.

To be honest, ranger or druid sounds most apt for pigeon-befriending.

Thanks! I think I'll work on a druid then. See what comes out of it and if it still works with the character concept I had in mind.

I do like the idea of a changeling also wildshaping. That opens new interesting personality disorder ideas ;)


The Pigeon King is now a druid (shepherd) in DnD Beyond. I like it. He can speak with pigeons to his heart's content.

How do we add the 1st-level feat in DnD Beyond. Is it something that is feasible using the webpage?

Found it: "On a character sheet you goto the Features and Traits section, then Feats. There is an option there to Manage Feats. From there you can add any Feat you want."

I think Nestis is about done but feel free to point out anything I've overlooked.

I ended up taking Actor in the end as the UA feats aren't listed on D&D Beyond. No major deal though.

Hmm, I guess I dont know how to add the free feat on DnDBeyond.

edit: also not sure how to add trade goods in inventory. I can not buy 25000 chickens (and a coke) with my 500 gp sadly.

That sounds about right. Its in the panel in the bottom right of the character sheet after you get done making your character initially.

Okay, just took a look at Mark's sheet and I can see that I didn't think about all of the switches involved, so I'll be putting together a guide on how to set up the characters.


Thanks, got it now. I've used DnDBeyond daily for like past 3 years but never for character creation or tracking.

After finishing your character set up, if you go to where it says Actions, Spells, Equipment, etc. There's an option called Features and Traits. Click that, then click on the Feats tab that shows up under it. To add feats, click manage feats.

Cheers, though even with UA feats visible, I don't see the Silver Tongued feat though.

Whelp, I have good news and bad news. Good news! I figured out why the feats for skills aren't showing up. The bad news is that they are most likely archived. The PDF was released almost three years ago, and I don't think they got incorporated into the books I have.

I'm really struggling with this DNDBeyond.

How do you replace a skill and tool in a Background?

On the page where you pick your background, pick custom background and put in the features you want.

To add a feat, go to the section that says Actions, Spells, Equipment, etc. There's an option called Features and Traits. Click that, then click on the Feats tab that shows up under it. To add feats, click manage feats and you can add feats there.

Should we pick two uncommon magic items? If yes, Are either major or minor?

Should we pick 500 gp for other gear?

Meaning, are we getting our stuff back?

My character serves the band? Are the other characters member's of band? Or are they random characters?

Yes, two minor uncommon magical items. I'll say one can major.

The 500gp is for buying your gear. Whatever's left is what you have on hand. Under equipment there should be a place to add wealth. Add 500 gp there, then subtract from that as you buy gear. Does that make sense?

Who says they took your stuff? :P

That's between you and the others, to be honest.

My character is heavily dependent on the band that killed his tribe. I need to know if you are them or not. Makes a huge difference in RP for me.

And it also should answer if we know each other well, too. Which is a big RP point, too.

We need to define now, before I can post in Gameplay.

@Jubal, assuming the story hasn't changed from this page, Nestis would have zero issue with a bugbear helper. He could easily have been in the band.


Corso is a street urchin. So it is unlikely, as I have him in mind, that he would have been part of the band.

At the very least, the band would have been an episode, perhaps to change his lot, or try to at least, and he would have returned to the streets.


I think Corso is ready on DnD Beyond. Let me know if I've goofed up something.

@Corso: Yes, it's an ongoing issue. My new aliases all have the same issue. Nestis only has a picture because he's an older alias.

I realised that I forgot to spend my 500gp + 15gp from character creation!

So:

Could I have traded in my old leather armour for 10gp or 5gp?

The band would be a typical adventurer party that would clean our the caves near the keep of the borderlands.

The main question is do our characters know one another or are meeting for the first time.

So Nestis wants to know Teegor. Anyone else, so we can sew this up. Nestis and I can make up the old band mates.

I can see Mark being a member fo Teegor and Nestis' party. Not so sure about Nilelane. She seems more of a loaner type. Corso has already opted out, but it could be fun if you've met before. Maybe he tried to scam Teegor and it didn't end so well.


Agree, that doesn't sound like what I thought from your first post. I don't think she would be there quite yet.

Also, I still have not finalized inventory (the 500 gp) but if that can wait until the weekend it would be great.

But Immovable Rod and Oil of Slipperiness for magic items. Only good can come from such a combo, so I must believe.

And no worries. this first bit is going to be RP heavy. We'll be getting into some crunchy shenanigans in a bit, but for now it's just having some fun while everyone gets finalized. I'll be giving everyone's characters a good look this weekend.


Corso could have known some of the gang members. I could see some kind of friendly rivalry between Corso and Nestis.

Corso could also have served as a fence for some of the goods the gang recovered. He would have a business relationship with the gang.

I'm cool with prior relationships.

Nestis is extremely charming. But anyone hanging around for a while realises both that he can be extremely ruthless and that nothing really gets him very emotional.
