| Dean Kreighton Shaine |
Apparently, this goes on for a while with Shaine coaxing out (like a dentist with pliers over a bound crocodile) the party's thoughts on the matter at hand.
"Very, very interesting indeed. So you can use the bits of parchment to summon the characters set down in the texts, but what do you suppose this part means, aye." muses the Master of Scrolls.

"Well, the loser clearly thinks highly of himself, but doesn't know when enough is enough, right? In the end the loser only knows something that he should have known better than to seek. Know?" Kolris deliberately misuses the questioning homonym at the end, continuing to try to provoke a reaction from who or what he is increasingly believing to be a fake Dean.
"But, that's just an educated guess; we clearly don't have the whole thing yet. You wouldn't happen to know where there's any more of it, would you Dean?"

Time passes as the party shouts across the room at one another.
"Fascinating. But do you even know what order it goes in? These are just so many sheared bits of vellum. It's obvious which one goes first but as for the rest...."
"But, that's just an educated guess; we clearly don't have the whole thing yet. You wouldn't happen to know where there's any more of it, would you Dean?"
"Are you sure? This stuff doesn't even really show edge differentiation its like chopped worm where all the pieces have grown back."

This effect seems to have a long duration...
Indeed; has there been enough time for Kolris to get a read on Shaine via Sense Motive?

Well, I was waiting (about 24 seconds of game time) to see what the other half of the party was doing but apparently they are all fascinated as well. ;) But time is a-wasting.
"Well, I wish I could say any of this was interesting but by all the slack jaws and vacant staring I can tell it isn't so."
Shaine moves and readies, keeping his eyes on Fentar (who looses his fascination--at least in game terms), and Kolris.
The dean backs up to the wall and begins scaling it backwards, and before anyone knows it he's high overhead. He nods to the albino crocodile across the way and faster than what seemed possible the thing is up and at Derkhan, who gets a wonderful view of its teeth before they snap at him.

He comes out with a small gooey bag. He takes quick aim and throws it up at the ceiling with all of his might; the bag bursts into flame as a sticky substance splatters all around where it impacts.

Crocodiles are ancient reptilian animals. While these thick-skinned reptiles look slow and placid they can move at tremendous speed in short spurts. When they bite, they lock their jaws around their victims and use their tails and legs to twist their own bodies over and over wrenching their victims prone, and inflicting terrible damage. They are not technically amphibious but can swim and hold their breath for long periods of time. Wizards often keep a stuffed crocodile (or alligator--honestly, who can tell the difference?) in their labs, and shops in the same way apothecaries have signs on their storefronts featuring a mortar and pestle--to denote their profession.
Tofang draws his gun and shoots at the crocodile...

But before he can do more than move, the Dean twitters a word of magic in his direction.
Kolris, Will save DC 17 or be paralyzed in place.
Fentar spits and gapes, "Eurgh."
Then he pulls a vial from his pouch and lobs it at 'Shane'.
Striking him.

The bag strikes but the old but limber elf rolls over on the ceiling twirling his cloak* as he goes avoiding the worst of the gooey napalm, which sticks to the painted ceiling making it look like one one of the gnome figures depicted there's hair is on fire.
Shaine gains a concealment from ranged attacks.

The albino crocodile spins on Fentar incidentally slapping its tail out at Derkhan--who manages to avoid it. The reptile locks its jaws around one of the Nagaji warrior's legs. It then lifts itself up with its legs and tail and rolls wrenching Fentar from his feet and throwing him to the floor.
From the ceiling Shaine winces.

Did these rolls include the -4 to Dex from being entangled?
When you throw a tanglefoot bag at a creature (as a ranged touch attack with a range increment of 10 feet), the bag comes apart and goo bursts out, entangling the target and then becoming tough and resilient upon exposure to air. An entangled creature takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity and must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be glued to thefloorceiling, unable to move. Even on a successful save, it can move only at half speed. link

Ah yes, I keep forgetting the Steven Spielbergian nature of Paizo's rules editing: Rules that look at other rules that look at still other rules. I should have looked back a bit further.
Shaine is stuck, in place and (in the Grim Dark Future™) burned horribly by the tarry napalm. It is a long, loud nightmarish death from shock as the flesh of his body is slowly consumed by the burning goop he cannot escape. The drawn-out screaming alone is enough to burst blood vessels. The Dean begs for help, pleads for mercy, and calls upon the names of friends and family, and at last, mercifully expires, a bedraggled heap hanging from the ceiling of what was once a Temple to Desna, smoldering amid the beautiful ceiling mural, a dark blot in an otherwise starry night scene. And so the good guys win with their weapon--that I'm guessing passed muster with the Geneva Convention?
Okay, Shaine's not dead, but burned like a cartoon character after a gun misfire. And I understand now why Kolris has the charisma score he does. ;)
Rectitude fires another bullet at the "Dean".
The shot blows the ear off of one of the mural gnomes.
Derkhan leaps on the back of the white croc as it prepares to take Fentar for one last spin, and drives his blade through the creature's head. The next moment he is sitting on the floor in the middle of a cyclone of parchment fragments with a design drawn upon them that like a puzzle would fit together to make the crocodile he just dispatched. The confetti flies up to the ceiling and disappears.

Fentar lies on his back, staring up at the ceiling and breathing heavily.
After a few moments, he turns his head to the side and winces.
Unfortunately, I have neglected to acquire the obligatory wand of CLW. If anyone would be willing to help out then I would be very grateful. Fentar is currently at 1 hit point.
Kolris Isimlothe

"We'll get to you, 'Shaine'" Kolris grabs Rectitude's wand sharply and very pointedly works on healing Fentar instead of conversing with their adversary, leaving him to wallow on the ceiling for a moment.

Kolris applies some healing, but suddenly finds himself looking at the wand in frustration, as he can't get it to work anymore. He wipes the frustration off his face, replacing it with derision. "Something's wrong with this," he says, handing it back. "It's broken."
He returns his attention to the kitsune on the ceiling. "So, you must be the fox in the poem, and the one that Mistress Koi was talking about. We've been looking for you."
"I suppose the big question right now, since it's the name of the poem and all, is what is your name?" Kolris doesn't look particularly ready to begin letting the fox down, yet.

Back on the overflowing mezzanine the party finds the big, multi-tentacled woman again swaying to an unheard tune rhythmically firing off great gouts of water from her body hither, and yon.
When she finally notes the party's arrival she squints at them with all four of her eyes as if she doesn't quite recognize them. She burbles at them in the same strange tongue she originally tried speaking to them in when they first met.

"'Whatshisname,' the fox you were looking for! You've been filling this library with water to make him float to the surface, but we've brought him to you now; you can stop with the water," Kolris answers, obviously frustrated at the fey creature's lack of essential memory functionality.
As a reminder, Kolris will translate anything into Sylvan; other PCs may feel free to speak with Mistress Koi (no need to wait on this specific PbP player to step in; assume Kolris translates unless the words are particularly un-diplomatic).
