GM Valen |
Hail, Starfinders!
This thread is for out-of-character discussions and reporting information, but for the time being, feel free to wander the Lorespire Complex and its environs, review some star charts, or catch up on some sleep before your next assignment.
Hef Sadir |
Dotted in and ready to rumble!
GM Valen |
Welcome all! We are still a couple of weeks out from launch, but make yourselves at home.
Hef Sadir |
So what roles does everyone cover?
Hef is melee support and healing. Starship options include pilot or gunner.
Azara Thenason |
I know Azara has been on an adventure with Hef and Patterson. Were we all together or was it two separate missions? In Pursuit of the Scoured Past?
Anyway...Azara is a close combat fighter. And he runs into combat. It's actually better if people don't get too close because he supernovas any time he's fully attuned.
On a Starship he's best as "Captain" because he's got a high diplomacy.
Hef Sadir |
I recall running with Azara and the supernovas, I'll try to keep my distance and support the other melee or just work to get a flank with you. What was the range on the supernova again?
Hef is definitely going to be a gunner, Patterson (and maybe others) beat out his piloting modifier by a decent bit.
If there is any travel on this mission, Hef will be able to get Life Bubble up for everyone the day before they arrive (it lasts 3 days).
EbonFist |
I recall running with Azara and the supernovas, I'll try to keep my distance and support the other melee or just work to get a flank with you. What was the range on the supernova again?
It's 10'. Usually, I can guarded step away 5' so as long as people don't crowd from multiple directions, I need 5' of distance. (Although I don't do it anymore unless I'm clear. It's just a good board clearer for minions.)
Patterson LXII |
Player Name/Alias: John Woodford
Character Name: Patterson LXII
OP Character Number: 67750-702
Race, Class, and Levels: Human Soldier (hit-and-run)/3
Slotted Faction: Acquisitives
Initiative: +4
Perception: +1
Boons:
Marked Field Agent (slotless)
I've got the Defender of the Fleet starship boon, from the Scoured Stars Invasion. Any thoughts on which (if any) of the options are appropriate?
Finest computers (upgrade computers by one step)
Finest engines (increase thruster speed by one step)
Finest weapons (every weapon on board gets to reroll any 1s on the damage dice, taking the second roll)
Patterson is spending lots of money before setting out:
Runner spark knife-390 credits
Idaran force training baton-400 credits
12-notch plasma fork-1290 credits
Kai Starchaser |
I've played with several of you before as Delta-5 or Hadir.
Kai is a skill monkey. In combat he tries to stay out of the way and ping things from distance. He is definitely a pilot in space combat
Speck Zezener |
Sorry I forgot to dot until now. Still need to update Speck's profile page. He's level 4.

Also, after agreeing on which leader to help out first, I recommend that the party work out an order of who to see (with the recognition that the party may not get to all of the leaders before the scenario moves to the next part):
The leaders and their tasks are:
Patterson LXII |
I suggest we start with the Supply Run, then move on to Starship Priming, Tactical Prep, Rookie Training, Master of Stars, and close with Prayer and Reflection.
On the GM's recommendation, slotting Honorbound Allies as a Starship Boon.

Starship - Heavy Solar Cannon Upgrade
Ally - I have High Society Influence (Iteration-177) AND Iteration-177's Attention...can you give me any advice on which I should take?
My suggestion is Starship Priming, Supply Run, Rookie Training, Prayer and Reflection, Master of Stars and Tactical Prep for the order of operations.

Starship: Defender of the Fleet
Slotless: Team Spirit; Marked Field Agent; Star, Sugar, Heartlove!!!; Scoured Stars Veteran (Scoured Stars Field Experience); Copaxi Linguist; Protector of the Future; For the Future First
I'm good for any order, but except to move Prayer and Reflection, since it seems a couple of us have Iteration-177 related boons? If we're leaving it to the end though, I'll slot another Ally boon since we're not likely to get to it.
Chk'tarlsh |
As for order (sorry, wanted to check the in-game action before posting it), I don't mind too much, beyond a visit to Zigvigix being somewhere in the first 2 or 3 :)
Hef Sadir |
Thanks for running this special!
Player Name/Alias: Pete H.
Character Name: Hef Sadir
OP Character Number: 123584-702
Race, Class, and Levels: Kasatha, Mystic, Level 3
Slotted Faction: Exoguardians
Boon Selections for this scenario:
* ExoGuardian Champion (Faction Boon)

* Pact Worlds Defender (Social Boon)
* Collector and Examiner (Ally Boon)
* Private Vault (Slotless Boon/Vanity)
* Scoured Stars Veteran (Slotless Boon/Limited Use)
Hef will second Patterson's list with a small adjustment to take advantage of some player's boons. Supply Run, then move on to Prayer and Reflection, Starship Priming, Tactical Prep, Rookie Training, Master of Stars.
Azara Thenason |
I'm going to go ahead and slot Ally - High Society Influence (Iteration-177).
I've also got Journey to the Scoured Stars: Segments 1 & 2, if they matter.
GM Valen |
Ally - I have High Society Influence (Iteration-177) AND Iteration-177's Attention...can you give me any advice on which I should take?
Each one offers a benefit during a certain portion of the scenario, but the benefit differs depending on which you slot (and also what memory was chosen for Iteration-177's Attention). Also, the benefit is granted only to the PC who slotted it. It is hard to say which would be most beneficial. If you have one of these boons on another PC, perhaps choose the more unique one so that you can experience the other boon's benefit should you replay it at a different subtier?
Hef Sadir |
The maps are locked, I'm getting an 'access denied' reply.

Starship: Honorbound Allies or Weapons of a Lost Civilization
Slotless: Marked Field Agent, Worldwide Explorer, Starfinder Insignia, Society Contract, Claimant To Salvation
Does only one of us need to slot Honorbound Allies? If so, Kai will go with Weapons of a Lost Civilization.
Kai is flexible on which leader to see first.
Kai Starchaser |
Kai levels up to level 4 after this scenario and I just realized he never picked a level 3 feat!
EDIT: Went with Spellbane. Crazy-good feat.
Hef Sadir |
Loving the pace of this special. Great work GM and Players!

Loving the pace of this special. Great work GM and Players!
Having played a few of these specials, I know they are more fun and have more advantages when moving quickly. I am certain that I won't be able to keep up this pace throughout the run, but I did defer the start of the other two tables I am running until later this week so that I could do my best to get you off to a good start. Thankfully, you guys stepped up and did great.
Chk'tarlsh |
Wow! Checked before turning in for the night and no new posts. Wake up to find 16 new posts!
Will try to catch up asap.
Chk'tarlsh |
To help sort roles, here's Chuck's Starship deets. I know we have more than 1 pilot, so we'll likely end up with a few potential gunners.
Gunnery: +8
Chief mate:
Acrobatics +9
Athletics +8
Azara Thenason |
Here are the stats for the Heavy Solar Cannon (I assume it's best in the turret.
Modified Heavy Solar Cannon: Direct-Fire Medium Range Damage 3d8 Sustained 4
Sustained means that each round after the first that it hits the same target it adds a die of damage. But it's reset if you miss or change targets.
So...hit it 5 rounds in a row and it will do 7d8 damage on the last hit.
And...correct me if I'm wrong but I think we're in a tier 4 ship?
Hef Sadir |
GM, was the Jump into this system super short or was it at least a day of travel? If there was actually an overnight or more while traveling then Hef will be able to get a nice multi-day buff up on the group. Let me know, thanks!
GM Valen |
@ Hef - Travel to the Scoured Stars region through the Drift took days of travel. Once in system, the jump from planet to planet takes only a few hours. The Starfinders entering the Scoured Stars region should have been prepared to expect to engage in starship combat, conduct planetary exploration, and fight in skirmishes with jinsul forces.
Does that answer your question?
Hef Sadir |
Perfect! The day before they are scheduled to arrive, Hef will move around to his allies and offer to cast a simple environmental protection spell on them. It will last three days, so will have two days remaining once they arrive. Casting it the day prior will also allow him to refresh his spell slots to full before arrival.
The spell is Life Bubble.
GM Valen |
Starship combat can get pretty bogged down and I'd like to keep things moving--ideally with a single round of starship combat taking place within a 24 hour period. Given what I know of this combat (and what the PCs will likely learn), there is good reason to think this is doable.
As Speck is a potential candidate for Engineer, I will hold off advancing the combat for now. Starting tomorrow morning (9 am-ish US East Coast time), I will be botting any PCs that have not posted within 24 hours of their turn to take an action. To that end, I would ask that (after your turn in this first round, that you please post botting instructions for your PC below or designate another player to post actions for your PC. If no botting instruction is posted for a PC and it has been over 24 hours since that PC was to have acted, I will bot the PC using the same action as that PC took the prior round (or delay if that action would not make sense).
Ninja'd in Gameplay thread! Moving us along soon!
Patterson LXII |
Thanks for the spell!
It looks like we're shy a science officer, but we have a captain, an engineer, a pilot, and three gunners. If we really, really need a science officer, Patterson has one rank in Computers.
Speck Zezener |
Speck can also hop back and forth between science and engineering as needed. Next round, he might pop over to science to scan the ship after we caught up.
Hef Sadir |
At least not being the lowest tier I expect everyone has at least some experience with starship combat.
Speck Zezener |
Balancing shields is the major need.
Why is that? Isn't it more important to boost shields? Since we can freely redistribute the restored shield?
Kai Starchaser |
I think he meant the major need from a science officer. I do think the biggest need we have is boosting engines, or this thing will get away. If there's anything we can do to target their engines that would be great
Patterson LXII |
Yes, balancing shields is not a process to entrust to the PC with a +1 Computers skill, and since it looks like we're going to take all of our damage to the forward shield having someone who can do it reliably is going to be critical.
