No prob. Feel better.
Veda Northanger |
Hey everybody,
I'm sorry for going missing on you. It's been a very hectic couple of weeks. At work we had two back to back short notice and short deadline extra projects added on top of our regular work. With what free time I've had I really needed to do other things than sit in front of a computer yet more.
Things should be getting back to normal now, and I'll be catching up on reading up to date on posts and posting myself. Within a day or two I should be all caught up and back in the flow.
GM Snowheart |
Veda, no worries and thanks for checking in. Speaking just for myself, living in DC, between Covid and the protests, it’s a very stressful and exhausting time. And I have it pretty easy with a job that lets me work remotely from my home in the suburbs with a back deck to enjoy the beautiful weather, parks nearby to take my son to ride his tricycle, and delivery for everything. And I still wake up exhausted. Please take care of yourself.
GM Snowheart |
Hi, all.
I have a call in a few minutes and then will have an update up. Also, my apologies if updates are a bit sporadic right now. I aim for at least one every day, but the events of the last week combined with the last couple of months are just depressing and exhausting. Not trying to bring RL or politics into our game; just trying to explain where I'm at right now.
Lily Tuvol |
I too have been disheartened by recent events. Which also makes it hard to be evil here.
Slenk |
Since I spent most of my career as a criminal prosecutor, I wanted to make a suggestion to move along some of the legal aspects of all the individuals we have incarcerated.
In a federal prosecution, what would happen is the suspect would be given an opportunity to plead guilty to a lesser charge (such as interfering with an agent) with the requirement that they confess to everything they know and everyone they worked with who may be involved. Alternatively, they can go to trial on the most severe readily provable charge, in this case Treason, and risk the (much) harsher penalty.
In Cheliax, there could be a binding contract drawn up stating that if it is discovered that they are not fully truthful in their confession, they will be found guilty of Treason instead. That wouldn't work in the U.S. but then Cheliax doesn't have a Bill of Rights.
Obviously, the incentive to plead guilty and move along is significant.
Jerax Hellfire |
Something needs to be done. I believe the jail is at full capacity right now. And how to we incarcerate a spellcaster? Break his fingers?
GM Snowheart |
Hi, all.
Veda/rdKnight reached out and let me know they'll be officially dropping from the campaign. It was a very nice note and I totally understand their reasons for doing so. Just wanted to let you know.
Jerax Hellfire |
She will be missed. The adversarial nature of the budding friendship was interesting and made for some good RP.
Lily Tuvol |
I know 5 is a good spot for number of characters but were we going to recruit a 6th? Asking for a friend who's considering getting into PbP.
Ameliya Arvanxi |
I'm game for adding another player. Especially one with some stealth and skill capabilities.
Jerax Hellfire |
I'm for it as well. I imagine Baron Fex wants Veda to work on a special mission, while this new character comes in to boost our numbers.
GM Snowheart |
I'm open to it but since this isn't a typical AP, I'd want to make sure the prospective player is okay with it.
Lily Tuvol |
He hasn't got back to me yet after I gave him some info on what he was in for. I know he'd be fine with an evil game. I'll connect you with his profile if/when he shows more interest. But after reflecting on it I'm fairly certain he wanted to play in one of the games I'm running.
GM Snowheart |
No problem! I'm also good with five players, honestly. Lets me focus a little better on each of you.
Slenk |
I vote we go with five players for now. Especially since Cimri is a pretty constant NPC companion at this point.
Also, if we can't agree to go in on a wand of Infernal Healing to share as a party, Slenk will save up for one then charge for healing at a minor profit to continue to be able to have healing at hand.
Jerax Hellfire |
Jerax votes for the communal wand of Infernal Healing.
Ameliya Arvanxi |
I'm all in for the communal wand as well and Ameliya has money to spend.
Lily Tuvol |
Hey all I'm going to drop. I'm having a lot of motivation problems writing for this game. Just right now it's really hard for me to play a character who works for paizo's stand in for Nazis.
Snowheart you're a fantastic GM and I hate to drop because its so hard to find good games. But I just can't right now. Sorry you're losing your Red Hulk. Feel free to bot me until such time that Lily can make an exit stage left.
GM Snowheart |
Hugs. I understand, Lily. No worries at all. Real world events have really collided with what should be an escapist endeavor.
It's been a pleasure having you at the table and please do reach out if I run another game in the future that you're interested in.
(I wonder if running Way of the Wicked would have been better. In some ways, it is a much more evil campaign, but the first two books are much less about the players in the role of authority and more about just escaping capture. I'd just done it a couple times already and the group ran into problems with the sandbox nature of Book 2.)
Jerax Hellfire |
Lily, before you leave, I'd like to know: was Jerax starting to wear you down in a romantic sense. Their last interaction was bordering on sweet.
Lily Tuvol |
@Snowheart, thank you. I'll keep an eye out for your future games.
@Jerax, lol, Lily doesn't swing that way. He never had a chance. But we were pretty close to forming a friendship. This might not have come across in my posts but Lily was frequently annoyed by Jerax. Part of that was because she was jealous of Jerax's relationship with Cimri.
Jerax Hellfire |
It's okay. Pending American Holiday and all.
Ameliya Arvanxi |
Enjoy yourself, Alixis.
Ameliya Arvanxi |
Hate to do this guys, but I'm going to have pull of the game. I got a new summer job starting up and its made it kind of impossible for me to keep up with my roleplaying. Once again, I'm sorry for doing this and the ghosting, but I also want to say how much of a blast it has been to play with you guys.
It's been fun and I hope you're able to continue with this deliciously villainous game!
Jerax Hellfire |
Aww, NO! You were great as Lady Arvanxi. Well, thanks for playing with us. See you on the forums.
GM Snowheart |
Hey, Amelia. No problem. Real life comes first and thanks for the update.
Team, let me know what you think. This brings us down to three players. With the attrition we've had, I'm sad to say it but I'm kind of inclined to call this one a wrap, but if you really want to try pressing forward, I could try recruiting some new players.
Jerax Hellfire |
If this Adventure Path ended, this would be Jerax's second failed turn around Cheliax. Both player and character have enjoyed this game. I vote for getting some new blood. Events may have slowed down, but that's a given in summertime.
GM Snowheart |
If you know other players who might be interested, I think that would be best. I'd hate to have to do another round of open recruitment, not because of the lack of quality but the abundance of it (and it may take longer).
We're down to three players. I feel like five is the sweet spot for PbP, so if we can get two more, that would be great.
Secondsight |
Hi All, I'm a RL friend of Slenk's and could be up for joining the campaign. I didn't see character creation rules anywhere, but maybe I missed them. Also, with a Witch, Cleric and Anti-Paladin, what skill set are we looking for a new PC to cover down on? Rogue stuff, arcane caster?
I haven't read up much on the game to date (and have never played Hell's Vengeance), but will if selected/game keeps going.
GM Snowheart |
Hi, Secondsight! Welcome. We'd be happy to have you. I will find the character creation rules and post them in the next hour or so -- digging out from a pile of emails for work (from clients who don't understand how to look at an Excel file, among other things).
GM Snowheart |
Secondsight, here is a link to the original recruitment thread. 95%+ of the information should be in the top post, and I'm happy to answer any other questions you might have.
https://paizo.com/campaigns/v5748p75ivkxg/recruiting#1
As for party composition, I'll leave that up to you guys to discuss. :)
Jerax Hellfire |
Secondsight, play what you want. We already have a rogue in Cimri. An evil wizard might be cool, just saying.

We do have Cimri, that is a good point. I do know that I am enjoying the character and campaign and hope we can keep going.

That's good to hear. You're playing Slenk very well.
GM Snowheart |
Hey there! Just responded to your messages and saw the PC concept. I should be able to look at it today and follow-up this evening. Let me know if you have any changes based on the answers to your questions! :)
