I do crave blood and seem that I need to feed. I can only feed on the willing though. You do whatever you need to do to make yourself feel safe."

When Jelissa asks.

"I too think buildings are the better choice for now. We need to get out of the desert region. It wouldn't make sense for people to chose to survive here. Undead are not affected by the harshness. So there is no tactical advantage. "

Titus notices it first and motions for the group to stop. Thorn nods in agreement getting off the mule that Kealen graciously let him ride. With tower shield and longsword out and ready he nods to Titus.

This takes a few rounds, 5 to be precise so if anyone wants to cast spells or do anything in those 5 rounds please post it.

Titus beat me by 3 minutes! :P

With Elize calling out the creatures hear her as well. And burst from their sand holes. Sand shoots from the ground as they uncover themselves. Only if you saw them hidden do you get to act in surprise round, so Elize and Thorn.

Elize tries to identify what they are.

Round 1

Titus shifts to hybrid form letting out a roar. He moves to the front to intercept.


Elize:
You know these are zombies. They seem different than the others and cringe at the sunlight.

These figures are covered in bloody clothes and wrappings. They hold no weapons. The stench of death reeks from them.

Perception DC 12:
Their fingers end in bloody nubs with claws rather than nails. They wear googles or sunglasses. One figure towards the back is bigger than the others. They all have wounds that should mean they are undead.

Perception DC 18:
The big one in back is carrying its arms around itself as if it is hurt. It moans and mumbles louder than the others.

Their surprise round action is emerging from their holes.

Round 1

They stumble towards the group with their arms outstretched before them as they moan with the slurping sound of spittle behind their masks. They are covered from head to toe.

Azana floated up, out of the reach of the zombies. As long as it was Undead it was a solid choice of tactic. When they fought humans, with guns or even sharp sticks and rocks, she'd need to think of something else to do. Maybe there was a better way to avoid harm in those situations.

But floating also gave her a clear shot of the zombies. Probably.

"Huh, they're bleeding. Did they do that before?" Azana looked mildly baffled.


Round 1

Azana ascends into the air and hits the forward zombie with a bullet. Jelissa, Troas, the panther, and Titus form a wall before the zombies get near. Thorn dismounts and moves forward. The zombies stumble forward in a staggered formation.

Troas is the only one hit by the stumbling zombies. 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Luckily he is able to ward off the biting undead with his spear but it was a close one.

Kealen dismounts and draws his longsword.

Ok then, dismount as a move action, and five foot step. He then attacks the zombie attacking Traos.

He slams his spear into one of them hoping it will do well enough to keep it back.

Titus steps up and gets to work!

Kaelen slices the thing before him in half and it drops to the ground bloody. Kaelen is also pretty bloody from the attack. Jelissa smiles at blood shoots from the zombie's lost head and pushes its body back with a kick, letting it fall. Troas does what he can to keep them off of him and falters in his attack. With the inaction of allies in the rear, the last zombie begins by slamming into Jelissa and bites hungrily on her neck.

Azana:
You can't tell from your present location but when you get down to check it out you might have a better look at it.

Round 3

You can see that the neighborhood was woken up and they are now in place where they will be at the end of Round 3. More zombies are behind them.

Perception DC 18 for the front group, DC 22 for the rear group:
You can see there is a good dozen more spread out. It might take 2 to 4 more rounds for them to get to you.

Zombies go last so lets see what you got folks!

Curiosity getting the better of her, Azana fluttered down to get a better look.

Takeing 10 for a 17 should let her recall and remember the bloody template. Often it is skeletons but it seems now it is zombies.

Elize speaks up.
"I think these are bloody zombies. They can be destroyed but will rise again after some time without positive energy or holy water."

Titus easily sees the next wave and awaits them to approach. Readying his hybrid claws to rip the zombies apart.

Kælen remounts, and says: "Does anyone have holy water or positive energy? I surely don't."


Azana:
Behind the front line of defense you look at the corpses. No they are not living, just merely recently turned, the blood splatter is normal as the reanimated process likely halts decay to a point.

She starts to get the zombie off of her but as the rest of them calmly talk it infuriates her. She shouts, "By the power of Pharasma I lay you to REST!"

The blast eradicates the zombie on her and washes over the other undead in a white surge of energy.

In an annoyed almost whine she states, "Yes I have positive energy and would have liked one of you to come help me. But I handled it myself." She then steps back and cures her wound.

"Oh, they really are dead. Just really recently turned. Huh." Azana wondered if there was something that had caused the recent turning nearby. A larger, meaner undead? Or perhaps the burying had slowed the decay a bit? Or maybe it was some kinda magic. Who knew?

Azana looked around to check and see if any of the undead were still un about the dead part, floating up once again to avoid bites. They looked like they hurt.

Bloody is a template for undead. She was making a generic k. religion to see if she knew about it.

Titus feral the positive energy wash over him and recoils in pain.

"Ow ow ow. It burns but isn't hot like fire. Do I smell like bacon? Thanks for the heads up Jelissa."

Even as he talks the smoldering skin heals and soon returns to normal.

"Oh. all better now. Well, that is new. You know if not for being all dead and stuff this undead thing isn't too bad. At least it didn't take my sanity wor good nature."

He then looks to Azana.

"How recently? Is something or someone creating these? I wonder."

He goes to help Jellissa to only find her blowing it away. He stands in the front waiting for the undead to come.

Seeing their slow advancement he goes to them. Smashing into the form before him, slashing at her body leaving a bloody swathe behind his longsword.

"I think these are different," Azana replied to Kælen, "In that they can be controlled by magic, but they don't have to be. This might be one of the controlled situations, though."

To Titus, she added, "Recently enough that their blood hasn't coagulated, but that takes a few days in a body, or drained to there low extremities, which takes a couple of hours. I'd guess within an hour or two, but I'll know more if I can examine a corpse. Maybe."

She pointed her pistol at the oncoming horde and tried to make one.

She steps up between the felines and waits stewing in anger, "Yes, I can blast them away with all my healing then, once we are done with the fight who will heal us. Well Titus takes damage from my positive energy, you should be on the fringe from me if I am going to be blasting." She says rather vehemently.

The zombies charge.... four of them surround Titus, one swings for a slam but he dodges it. Three are on Thorn, soon to be seven. Then three are on Kaelen soon to be four, one of them swings and misses with its flailing arm.

"Anyone needs healing?" Azana called as she tried to shoot another one.

I think I can charge with no room to accelerate, using ride by attack, correct me if I'm wrong.

Kælen charges through the zombies that are attacking him.

Lance, Charge, vs. yellow border: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

Damage vs. yellow: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Damage is x3, so 36 damage, ending on the opposite side of the zombies.

You must move before your attack, not after. You must move at least 10 feet (2 squares) and may move up to double your speed directly toward the designated opponent.

Ride by attack:
While mounted and charging, you can move, strike at a foe, and then continue moving.

Prerequisites: Ride 1 rank, Mounted Combat.

Benefit: When you are mounted and use the charge action, you may move and attack as if with a standard charge and then move again (continuing the straight line of the charge). Your total movement for the round can’t exceed double your mounted speed. You and your mount do not provoke an attack of opportunity from the opponent that you attack.

To sum it up:No! In each case it says you have to move first!

Round 6

Kealen attacks the pustilat yellow zombie with his lance, leaving a wound but not taking it down. Azana misses her shot. Titus takes down two of them in grisly fashion. Elize splahes the zombies to the side with a bomb.

The panther begins to move but with the monk mounting it, it waits. Then they move around the obstacle letting the mule follow. He waves his spear in the air as the panther leaves with the mule close behind.

Thrashing, wailing and slamming into Titus and Thorn more than Kealen the zombies still want flesh. Kealen's lion takes one of the zombies down. Elize makes the dark blue zombie turn to ash as the bomb splashes onto the other nearby zomies, taking another one down. Titus takes three down with ease. Map is not updated, yet. Go ahead and do round 8.

A pool of black liquid appears to seep out of the ground and holds Kyrie and her gunsman in place. From the goo a black knight slowly rises. Raising its arm strands of the goo shoot up and attach to them.
