Azu thinks he hears something moving around below but you can't be sure whether it's just a draft. You draw your weapons.

At the bottom of the stairs you see a wide entryway and passages to the left and right — Ionic moves left, and when he rounds the corner his black-and-white darkvision allows him to see a group of squat humanoids with huge heads — an unfortunate circumstance, considering how ugly their puffy faces are.

Seggiatore's torchlight falls upon them, and you can see that they they are blue. One of them is dripping a vile of vile-looking liquid on a dart. He grins at you, showing sharp teeth.

Guntram shouts, Ye shoods ken when yoo're beat ye wee pest! and whack at the blue creature repeatedly with his club.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
1d20 ⇒ 2 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
1d20 - 5 ⇒ (15) - 5 = 10 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

If and when the creature is dead, Guntram will offer healing to the injured in the group if there's time.

Administer First Aid to stop Ionic's bleeding:
Medicine: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Treat Wounds, Ionic:
Medicine: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 2d8 ⇒ (6, 7) = 13

Treat Wounds, Faethor:
Medicine: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 2d8 ⇒ (8, 2) = 10

If we don't have 20 minutes, Guntram will look for some berries outside of the cave and use his focus points to creature two Goodberries one each for Ionic and Faethor. Heals 1d6+4.

Faethor shreds the remaining fey with his claws.

Looking down at the puffy-faced blue bodies, Guntram is able to identify them as Mitflits, fey creatures who can empathasize with vermin… vermin such as bloodseekers!

You move deeper into the mine, where you find a colony of mitflits hiding in a fogotten nook. The creatures cower in terror — not of you, but of the mosquito witch. One of them speaks in broken common:

Gwibble! Gwibble make pretend to be witch! Tell bugs to bite! Drive off people! Want land for us! People go away! Scared! All swamp and all bugs for us! Fun!" As a measure of good faith, they offer you their pitiful treasures. Items on chronicle sheet.

There's a set of tiny little stilts leaning in the corner — clearly designed to create pointy footprints that look like the witch's. Now you know why the tracks you found earlier were so small. You also see rusty old carving knives that might be used to slice jibberish onto tree trunks.

The mitflit continues. "But now… not fun. Real witch here. It watch us. Red eyes in dark. Wings at night. We scared. No Gwibble now. You kill Gwibble. No more boss. So we go away. No more scared of red eyes in dark. No want to be here. Witch watching, now." The hairs on the back of your neck stand up. You feel suddenly as if you're being watched. The mitflit stares intently off into the dark. "We promise! No more fake witch! We go!"

You start to make your way out of the old mine, which now seems more than a little creepy. You feel assured that without their leader Gwibble, and their fear of the witch, the mitflits will leave the area and stop directing bloodseekers and mosquitoes to plague Shimmerford.

Ionic grimaces as he pulls the last remains of the blood seeker off of himself. "Good job, Everyone. Stupid bloodsucker. Made me woozy... Well, should get moving... OI, Guntram, no don't we have..." Ionic gives a small start at the other dwarf and tries to resist his help for a bit, but ultimately begrudgingly lets the man stop his bleeding. But before the green dwarf wastes his time and resources further, Ionic pulls out a container and downs the contents. "Said we don't got de time!"

Minor healing potion, pathfinder training: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Ionic covers up the wound left by the bug and then stands back up rocking ever so slightly. "Let's move on den?"

As the group uncovers the rest of the mitflit tribe, Ionic hangs back, still clearly woozy, and just listens. "Shouda known. Course it were imitators! But a 'real' witch? Great. If she's real, doubt'd wanna make trouble. She's been pretty quiet 'til now. Let's get outta here. Get food. Need to eat someding. Settle me tummy." He then tromps off to the exit of the cave.

Ionic is just being stubborn you can heal him if you want also thanks for stopping the bleeding!

Seggiatore bristles at the story of Gwibble's machinations, especially the idea that it might have been fun.
When they address the hidden Witch, he'll turn and look intently for her, with a look that is half anticipation ("oh it would be great to include a creepy description in the epic!") and half caution ("you're gonna get yourself cursed, you fool!"). When he sees nothing, but still feels the little hairs standing up, he shivers once and makes his way hastily out of the cave.

Once they are back in the daylight, he'll attend more thoroughly to others' wounds, including Haru if she still needs any aid.
When Ionic comes out, talking about food, he'll finally brighten. "Oh, a meal does sound delicious after all of this. Tromping around in the wilderness isn't really my strong suit. I bet the innkeeper could serve something that'll fix you right up, Ionic. Even better, we never did make it to the brewery. If the mosquitoes are sufficiently dispersed by the time we get there, I'd love a pint to drink outside, relaxing next to a fire, watching and listening to the river peacefully run by. Doesn't that sound great?"

Ionic gives a nod at the suggestion of a drink. "Sound plan, dat!" but his expression sours at the reminder of the river and what happened there with the carriage earlier today. "But I'll stay inside. River is rather ... unpleasant to contemplate."

Ionic gives Guntram a rough smile. "Have ta be after over a century on a ship! But yeah, my wounds'll heal just fine. Don't waste your bandages."

Ionic doesn't recognize what Guntram is doing until it's too late to stop his goodberries. The stubborn one takes on and grumbles some. "Said I'd be fine... but now ya cast it. Be a waste ta leave. Doubt 'bout de taste dough. Dose my potions with rum. Warms you up. Hides the magic tang!"

You blink in the sunlight, releived to be in the open air once again. Haru and Peaches wait, safe and sound. You turn to leave, finding that the witch doll rests the mud as it was dropped from the pack. Good riddance!

Something deep and loud moans from deep within the old mine, as if the bones of the earth itself are breaking. You turn back as the moan becomes a loud rumble. You realize what's happening too late: an explosion of dust rushes out from the entrance, blinding you!

When you're done coughing and blinking the grit from your eyes, you see that the old mine is completely caved in. The mitflits are dead in a freak accident and you left just in time.

You remember words written on the insane man's paper doll… "The iron cave will fall." You turn away and find, resting at your feet in the mud, an intricately carved paper doll. The sun is setting. You hurry back to town as fast as possible.

Back in town it's immediately apparent that the attacks on Shimmerford have ended — there's merely a normal level of annoying insects in the humid air. Haru thanks you sincerely, but quickly departs to continue her mission. You head back to Tymon to report back in.

Safely back in Tymon the Mosquito Witch seems like a mere legend — there was surely a rational explanation for what happened. You open the door to your lodging, ready for a good night's rest. Sitting on your pillow is a mosquito witch doll, watching you with red eyes.

This is the end of the scenario, hope you all enjoyed. If you have not already rolled your Downtime then please do so now. I will attempt to complete the chronicles tomorrow but with it being a Holiday it may end up being Saturday. Please feel free to roleplay to your heart's content.
