Hello!
This is an interest check for a PbP demo of Pathfinder 2nd edition. The adventure is "Torment and Legacy." Designed for about an hour face-to-face, it will likely take a few weeks of PbP.
4-6 players. Pre-generated characters will be provided.
An overview of the 2nd edition rules will be provided.
In other words, you don't need to purchase anything to play.
As you're already on the Paizo forums, I'm assuming you're not new to RPGs—maybe you're a Pathfinder 1e or Starfinder player curious about the new system—but if you are, you're very welcome to join.
Disclaimer: I myself am fairly new to Pathfinder 2e (aren't we all at this point?) and GMing. I've recently completed a Pathfinder Society Quest which you can find here and I think it went well. Ultimately, I just enjoy Pathfinder 2e and would like to introduce more people to the game.

I would be interesting in playing. After about a 10 year hiatus from gaming due to career and family, I find I have time and interest to get back to rolling some dice. I have recently invested in some PathFinder 2nd edition material, but would still consider myself a noob to this edition. I typically learn better by playing and would be available to post at least once per day. I would be open to playing any type of pregenerated character, but I have a soft spot for Barbarians and Sorcerers.
Thanks for the consideration.

Happy to see some interest.
As for specifics, being a demo, this is pretty open and first-come-first-serve.
The ability to post at least once per weekday and once per weekend would be ideal to keep things moving.
So folks can start thinking about it:
The pregen classes included in the demo are: Alchemist, Champion (2e version of a Paladin) Cleric, Fighter, Rogue and Wizard.
While Paizo has made pregens of other classes available elsewhere, these include a nice reference sheet for the characters' abilities that seems tailored for new players.

I've uploaded the pregens here. I've also added a link in the header to them as well as to the Second Edition Quick Rules Reference.
I'll have a post going over the basics of the rules when we begin, but the reference is there for those who want to take a look and for use during play.

Expressed interest so far:
J Scot Shady - Rogue
dwilhelmi -
Mioki - Fighter
Caro Cogitatus - Alchemist (Rogue, Champion)
Dαedαlus - Wizard (Cleric, or Champion)
pyropaki - Champion (Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, Alchemist)
Frag Pulf - Any
That's 7, so I'll leave recruitment open for a bit. If we get any more folks I'm willing to run two tables since it's a short demo. In the meantime, if anyone needs to drop out, just let me know.
GM Steinkrug |
Okay, we've got 8. I've set up a second table.
The following can stay here:
J Scot Shady - Rogue
dwilhelmi - Cleric
Mioki - Fighter
Caro Cogitatus - Alchemist (Rogue, Champion)
The following can go here.
Dαedαlus - Wizard (Cleric, or Champion)
pyropaki - Champion (Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, Alchemist)
Frag Pulf - Any
Spazmodeus -
On both tables, I've added some intro text from the demo to the discussion thread. It's written for the absolute beginner so some of it will be stuff most/all of you already know. You'll see I replaced some text about criticals with text from the Core Rule Book as there's a mistake in the demo. I also made a small edit to the sheets for the Fighter and Champion as they had a armor check penalty to a couple skills they shouldn't have.
Since there's a holiday coming up in the United States, let's look at December 2nd as a start date.
In the meantime, class choices can be finalized, etc. Looks like this is already covered, but having a cleric or champion in each group might be good idea.

All right, so...
On table 1, I believe I have Caro Cogitatus and Mioki that have checked in.
On table 2, I've seen Pyropaki, Daedalus and Spazmodeus.
We also have Ridge, an additional player who expressed interest.
So, what I'm going to do is give until this time tomorrow to hear from those who haven't checked in.
If we don't have enough for two tables, I'll consolidate down to one. Right now, with the names above, we have a table of 6.
Basically, I'm trying to balance allowing as many people to participate with getting this going.
Thanks for understanding.

Ok. So, we heard from 1 more on table 1 and have Ridge and Hayato Ken expressing interest. We can keep two tables as long as Ridge and Hayato Ken both stick around.
On table 1 we've got: Fighter, Alchemist and Cleric.
On table 2 we've got: Wizard, Champion and Rogue.
No overlap in class, so that's nice if we have to consolidate.
We'll start tomorrow either way.

Woot. Thanks for the PM
Hayato Ken wants to play rogue, and I'm feeling flexible as I'm equally ignorant on all claseses with PF 2 ;) so fine by me if Hayato Ken goes with the rogue spot on table one. I guess I go to table 2 and fill in whatever they think they needThanks for giving me a chance
GM Steinkrug |
Nice. We're taking pregens right? I'll look at them tonight.
Always inclined to monk or rogue, but will take a look first.
So our table 1 rogue has appeared. Must have been hiding in shadows...
That puts us at:
On table 1 we've got: Fighter, Alchemist and Cleric, Rogue.
On table 2 we've got: Wizard, Champion and Rogue.
Ridge has already headed over to table 2.
So your options would be: Wizard or Champion on table 1 or work out with Ridge on Table 2 between Fighter, Alchemist and Cleric.
GM Steinkrug |
Do you have any slots left? I could always jump in if you need a filler at a table.
Yeah there's room. We're starting tomorrow so as long as you're ready to jump in.
I'd like to do two tables of 5, so see the above post.
Basically it's between you and Hayato Ken. One for table 1 and one for table 2.
GM Steinkrug |
This is table 1, yes.
Table 1 has Wizard or Champion available.
Table 2 has Fighter or Alchemist available.
At this point you can go to either table depending on which of those classes you want to grab.
