Glad to hear your wife is okay. Having both severely pulled muscles around my ribs and fractured my ribs, I can concur that such things can be incredibly painful and strange in experience.
Excited to get into the nitty gritty!

Damn, so it looks like Kunala the Barbarian and Herb the Hermit have both backed out (Kunala back on the 28th, Herb after you announced the selections). I don't want to see this game die off, @RizzenMagnus, hopefully some of the other candidates might fit?

Greetings.
I've been out of pocket with work this past week. So, please accept my apologies for just now checking in.
Between now and 11/22 I have our year end board meeting at work which will require some long days. I will light on posting to the boards until we get past that.
Looking forward to this see where this campaign goes!

Posting Rate:
I plan to post at least once a day. It may be more, but i will strive to achive an average of one post per day. My goal is for everyone to be able to post at least once per day.
The normal schedule of posting will be monday through fridays, with an occasional saturday and sunday if need be.
I am in the Central time time, and i will nominally be doing my postings around 1200 CST.
Combat:
I have found the following to be an easy way to manage combat within a pbp setting. Others may do it differently, but for me, this way works, and is easy.
1) players will have 24 hours to post their combat actions.
2) Player initiative is managed by first come, first post, first combat action. meaning that you dont have to wait for someone else to post before you due to a higher initiative. If youre on the board, post your action and whomever comes next can react to your actions.
3) The DM goes last in combat. always.
4) when the DM posts for combat, that is the end of the round, and a new round starts.
so, what does this mean? Lets say hodawn, zero, and amhern are in combat with a jaffa. I will set the scene, have the jaffa perform an action, and then post. once i post, players will have 24 hours from 1200 CST to make their combat post. Amhern posts first, zero second, and hodawn posts last. At noon the next day, i will compile the actions, have the jaffa/monster act, make a nice summary of the previous round and post. Zero, being on the site early that new day, can immediately post, followed by hodawn and finally by Amhern. And the process repeats itself until the jaffa is dead, or the whole party dies.
and yes, i realize that this makes improved initiative useless, so if you took it, feel free to replace the feat

this is a end of the world zombie survival adventure, so there needs to be a survival mechanism that enhances the mortality of this game. you watch any survival movie, read any zombie novel or comic, and inevitably the need for food and water comes up.
so to add a certain need, for lack of a better word, to this game, i am currently trying to figure out a rule or two that meets this criteria. It is going to be based off of food and water, but what i havent come up with something fully fleshed out yet.
i wanted to give you guys a heads up so that youre aware of what im thinking of, so youre not caught off guard when i finally post it.

Damn, would've liked to play out my action myself, as my direction to my allies was for them to wait for me to do my action before they moved at all. I was planning to post this evening, but was hoping for a response from at least one of the dwarves before posting. I guess I find myself a little confused by posting protocol on this game.

Gareth Felbranche |

No worries, my confusion was just on expectation of posting frequency. I totally get you were just trying to get things moving on. I figured the others would wait for me to act, thereby preventing a bunch of non-stealthy characters from blowing my chance to take out the lone zombie before it became aware of us. I actually think its kind of fitting as there are often 'growing pains' when people begin to learn to work together.

Kunala |
I wasn't sure if we all were waiting or not, but I know Kunala was waiting to see who was successful or not.
I had forgotten how we were doing combat or I would have reminded us. On a side note I really like this method of init. It means we are not waiting for posts.
What I don't know is Kunala can wait and see everyone else's actions and still move.
Ok I think our dead line is 2:02 est. So I will check again around noon to see if the gate got shut or not.

Hey guys, sorry. To be honest, i forgot about this game cuz i got so sucked into my other two games im DMing.
If you want, we can pick this back up and do a two person game, open up recruitment to find a couple others, or just shelve the game.
