Welcome to Escaping the Grave, Table 2!
I expect on average one post a day during the week, and at least one post over the weekend. I generally check in 3-4 times a day to respond to questions and update, particularly during combats, but that can change based on how busy I am at work. If you are not in a US time zone, let me know so I have an idea of when to expect to hear from you (and so I can put another pin in my "where are my players from" map! :) ). If you know you're going to be out for an extended period, let me know and provide some sort of botting instructions.
Please post an in-character introduction in the Gameplay thread, and an out-of-character one here. Include whether you are a field-commission agent or a member of one or more schools, as that will affect your choice of loaner gear.
At the end of the adventure I will have you give me your vital stats for the chronicles and handle your downtime activities.
After the mission briefing, I will get you to state what boons you may be slotting and make your selection of loaned items from your school (where applicable).
If you are planning to slot any boons other than faction, please state which ones. Give the name of the boon and the source (if from a scenario, give the scenario number; if this is a boon purchased with either fame, give the faction it is from; if this is a boon purchased with playtest points or AcP, state that.) You don't have to provide the entire text of the boon unless I ask for it (I have access to most of them to view).
And for the new folks, if ANY of that didn't make sense or you need explanation, please ask! :-)

Kernal Klank here. Envoy Faction: Commissioned Field Agent
Klank is a blacksmith and that's his main focus in life. Pathfinder work is just to pay the bills and set up contacts for his Smithy.
I'm still figuring out his personality so if it seems to change a bit throughout don't be alarmed. Right now I'm thinking more of the serious LN approach but its never been my strong suit so it may not last long.
**Also: Please grant us access to the slides. Thanks!**

'Ello all!
Degbie is a Bartender and bouncer (read: monk) and faithful follower of Cayden Cailean.
He's rarely serious, if he can help it, and relishes every moment he is party to. Like any good follower of CC, he imbibes convivially and I plan to use the cleric multiclass feat for him asap.
The Society has been a way for him to get paid to travel to different inns, taverns, and publican houses around the inner sea as he plans to- inevitably- open his own tavern in Absalom.
He has Swords training 2 and scrolls 1
He's slotted for Envoy Alliance faction.
I apologize in advance for how many questions I'll probably have about Pbp. As a Venture Lieutenant, I have a lot of experience running and playing in meatspace, but trying out post to make up for my godawful work schedule is new.

Hello everyone!
I'm not in a Us time zone, I'm living and working in Japan right now, so it's just past noon right now for me.
Zherayiss is a half elf from the Mwangi expanse, and has a green dragon bloodline. I play her as being a bit haughty and prideful, like a proper dragon, as well as slightly racist, feel free to call her out on it. Her official job is to buy supplies her tribe can't readily get in the expanse, but as that's not a full time job, she decided to join the pathfinders and see the world.
She's trained exclusively with the spells part of the group, and tends to pick up scrolls of Mage Armor and Magic Weapon as a standard. She's also got the Grand Archive faction boon.

No worries, Degbie! I've been a VC and VL for several years, and can still remember when I first jumped in to PbP. Bring on the questions! ;-)

![]() |

Hey all!
So, as is known, I'm pretty new to PbP and Pathfinder. I played a bunch of AD&D growing up and have only poked my nose in to see what's going on with TTRPGs once in a while since. Only recently have I started playing again.
Anyhow, still learning about the setting, etc. so with that additional caveat...
Conso is the son of half-orc parents and was orphaned at a young age and raised among Varisians. He's also a follower of Cayden Cailean, the god's dedication to freedom and opposition to slavery being particularly important to him. Not that he's opposed to celebrating, but he's careful to not let it get in the way of his work. Speaking of work, he’s joined the Society to better accomplish his goals of helping the oppressed.
He's Envoy's, trained in Swords 3.
Will post an IC introduction shortly...

![]() |

YESSS! Another Caydenite. This pleases the Accidental God :)
I promise not to get you too far into cups.
So basically, my questions will really start when we have dice rolls and combat. I expect that to be a wholly different experience.
Thanks for the welcome though, it's much appreciated.

GM Rinaldo |

As this is my first time GMing a 2nd edition game, I'm still working out my "before we start" bookkeeping stuff. I may periodically do an "Oh shoot, I forgot to get this information from you" post - like this! ;-)
I'm going to be doing a lot of secret rolls, so I'll need everyone's modifiers for the following skills, and let me know if you are at least Trained or not:
For initiative and surprise, I need
* Perception
* Stealth
For Recall knowledge, I need
* Nature
* Religion
* Society
* Any Lore skill
* Bardic Lore
Since critical failures can result in misinformation, only list those skills you intend to make Recall Knowledge checks in. (If we hit a point where I need a check in something no one listed, I will give you the opportunity to do so even knowing you have a low chance, or simply skip it.)
Secret rolls will be in spoilers; I am trusting you not to peek into any spoiler that says "GM Screen". Rolls that I intend to be public (which will include most combat rolls) I will leave visible in the post.

OK, looks like our fifth isn't coming, so I'm sending two wait-listers over to bring us to six. Once they check in, we'll get going.

GM Rinaldo |

Bookkeeping time: We have 6 characters, all level 1. This is 12 challenge points, which says we should use either the 6 player adjustment OR apply a level bump to the encounters. I am choosing to use the 6 players adjustment.

![]() |
I will be slotting 3 points into Spells.
Items borrowed:
1 scroll of Burning Hands
1 lesser antidote
Slotted Boons:
Grand Archive Champion
Experienced Mountaineer (General, Scenario 1-05): You treat mountainous terrain and other steep slopes as difficult terrain, rather than as greater difficult terrain.

GM Rinaldo |

I will be slotting 3 points into Spells.
Just to be clear: That isn't "slotting", it is a one time choice you have to make, and is permanent.

![]() |

This whole slotting boons things is a bit of a change. If a boon doesn't have a listed type does that make it slotless? AKA: Its always slotted?

![]() |

I'm going to borrow Lesser Leaper's Elixir
Slotted Boons:
Envoy's Alliance Champion
One-Who-Waits (Slotless, Quest #2 Unforgiving Fire)Whenever you roll a critical failure in acrobatics or Athletics, check a box (I have 3) as a free action to get a failure instead. The GM can tell you if this wouldn't change the outcome so you don't waste the ability.

From what I can tell here, it sounds like the boon must specifically have the slotless trait to be slotless. And if not it would go into one of your three generic slots assuming it does not have the advanced trait.
But I'm new to this so I could be wrong!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've just got my faction boon.
For items, I'll requisition a minor healing potion and a potency crystal.

GM Rinaldo |

Conso is correct on the boons. Only boons specifically tagged "slotless" are slotless. You get to slot one "faction", three "standard", one "advanced" boon, plus keep any slotless boons you may have. (A Wayfinder, at a cost of 2 fame, is an early slotless boon I expect a lot of people to have.)

![]() |

Ah ok. Then I guess the only two boons I have will be slotted!
General:
Sand Slide (Reaction) 0/3 Trigger: You would fail (but don't critically fail) a reflex save to avoid a trap's effects; Effect: You Step and then Drop Prone in your new location. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to your triggering Reflex save. If this would have been enough to resist the trap's effects initially, you succeed at the save instead.
Faction:
Envoy's Alliance

![]() |

I actually should add that. I have my Wayfinder slotted too
Have they finally allowed monks to be Chaotic? Or am I thinking of WAAAY back? Haven't really played a monk much in Pathfinder.

![]() |

Yep- there's no longer an alignment restriction to monks. It makes it a lot easier to make a non-eastern styled brawler like my bouncer. It was still there in PF1, but the Brawler class proved a need for change.

![]() |

Omg, one busy weekend and this thing explodes! Wow, I'll be catching up and posting in just a moment.

![]() |

As we embark I will cast Mage Armor on myself, since it has a lovely improved duration now!

![]() |

While I am not great at Athletics, I am trained, but I have decent Survival. Are people comfortable with me doing the Setup Check to hopefully reduce the DC for everyone else?

![]() |

Oh, right. I have Assurance Survival also. +5 would give me 15, then, I think.
Strike that, Assurance is just prof. bonus, right? So +3 also.
Right, so that's a 13 total on the Survival Check. You're probably better off doing the Athletics check with your +6 bonus.

GM Rinaldo |

Sounds like Ezekiel is volunteering for the Setup check, and everyone else is going to make the Athletics check?

Peeking on character sheets for those that haven't responded:
Zhera has +0 to both athletics and survival (A jungle elf with no survival? Geez!)
Degbie is rocking a +6 athletics and +2 untrained survival.
Looks like Ezekiel scouting it out makes lots of sense.
**Normally I'm not one for meticulous planning of rolls but considering we're just now starting to work together it makes a bit more sense to get to know each other's strengths and weaknesses.

Yeah she probably should have some survival.However, deception is her bread and butter, she'll definitely help set up! +7 to deception, +3 to stealth.

![]() |

Alright- so question 1 :)
How do I make rolls? Is there an internal roller built in to the forum (if so that would be friggen great)
Edit: NVM, I found it.

![]() |

If you go to the bottom of the text box and find the: 'How to format your text' 'show' button.

Hey, you know how much I like being helpful! Just ask Dale.
