It was worth it for the visual of Gigon's round. Sometimes failure is more fun than success.
I can just hear the dramatic music building as Gigon puts together this genius concoction on the fly. It should work. It will work. Gigon is the smartest gnome alive!
Only for the record scratch as the ball falls apart in a cloud halfway to it's target like trying to throw a ball made out of paper holes with nothing to stick them together. To add insult to injury, a nice 5' area of grass in front of him is now coated in frost, like a chilled spring morning.
This is the part where the villain seems like he has the upper hand, and all is nearly lost for the good guys. (hoping it doesn't stay that way... c'mon RNG!!)

Hey guys, sorry for the spotty posting. My routine is messed up and things are weird. As a result I'm going to put the games I'm running on temporary hiatus for two weeks, resuming April 6th.
Hope you're all doing well. Sorry for taking this break but I'd prefer to run these properly and ensure I've got everything in place to commit to regular posting.

Ok, I'm hoping I did this right. I have my doubts. It is shockingly difficult to find a list of instructions on how to level up a character that doesn't assume you have a substantial base knowledge of how the system works. Incredibly frustrating.
Pollo Level 2
HP: +13
Fighter Feat added: Agressive Block
Skill Feat added: Bonded Animal (So the feat says it is supposed to take 7 days of downtime and I have to roll a 20 on a nature check, but I couldn't resist this one because of the way I RP'd the fight with the dogs and trying to make a connection with the one I kept from dying. Up to you GM how you want to handle this.)
Pretty sure that is it...
GM SpiderBeard |
I'm sitting back for a lil to let you guys play out Gigon's new discovery.
@Pollo
Leveling up is VERY easy in 2e.
- Add your hit points (done)
- Increase your training value. This means that EVERY SINGLE VALUE on your character sheet that incorporates a proficiency bonus goes up by 1. I think you've done that properly.
- Add your class level features. So your aggressive block and bonded animal are good. Because this is a module and not a campaign, you can just have the dog without the check.

Thank you! I wish Paizo could have summarized the level up that easily! Much appreciated. It took me a long time to figure all of that out, and in the end I did so from a blog post somewhere, and still wasn't sure I had done it right. Your synopsis is simple and effective... :)
Also, thanks for the dog! I have no idea how I will play her, but that's half the fun of this game right? :)

Anghariel |
Apart from increasing her proficiency bonus by 1 and gaining 7 hit points, Anghariel gains a class feat, which I suppose shall be Reach Spell, as well as a skill feat, Oddity Identification. Not particularly excited about the overall selection for either feat slot, but oh well.
She also adds two additional 1st-level spells to her spellbook, fear and magic weapon.
Pollo Pitius |
Hey everyone, sorry for my absence. I got sick this weekend and it totally messed up my normal routine, so I forgot about the boards.
GM SpiderBeard |
Alright guys, we're entering a short period of downtime if you'd so like it as we move to Part 2 of the game. If you want a few days to engage in crafting, personal roleplay, or what have you, now is your opportunity!
Anghariel |
So I've been looking at what to do with that runestone containing the shadow rune we found, and…unless I'm misunderstanding the rules, currently we can only sell it or hold on to it?
For starters, to transfer a property rune (such as shadow) to an item, that item must be etched with an armour/weapon potency rune. We don't have any such armour, so that appears to put paid to the notion right away.
Additionally, according to the core rules, "[transferring] runes between one item and another, including a runestone … uses the Craft activity." They also state: "Etching a rune on an item follows the same process as using the Craft activity to make an item. You must have the formula for the rune, the item you’re adding the rune to must be in your possession throughout the etching process, and you must meet any special Craft Requirements of the rune."
What's not clear to me is whether this supersedes the other requirements laid out by the "Craft an item" activity, such as the crafting character needing to be at least the same level as the item being crafted. Even if it does, though, we lack the formula for the shadow rune, and I don't know if it could be acquired in a place like Etran's Folly.
Does this sound correct?
Pollo Pitius |
So other than working with Phoenix the dog, Pollo doesn't really have any game downtime stuff. He would definitely try to spend time with all of the others in the group, trying to get to know them a little better before possibly being shooed off for getting to nosy.
I'm happy to RP any of that on the main thread with anyone too. Just let me know!
Gigon |
Sorry for my lack of response, I've been having some emotional turmoil that makes it hard to concentrate on RP.
Any chance we can spoiler the response?
GM SpiderBeard |
Absolutely! I just needed to push the game along but we can always spoiler and deal with responses in retrospect.
Osveta Daud |
Sorry I disappeared, for whatever reason my brain decided this would be the game to tackle last when I woke up, and seeing multiple posts each morning made me put off even more posting. And more and more as more posts were made.
So, sorry for just ghosting on y’all.
GM SpiderBeard |
Hahah totally fine. I was gonna let you just chill because life is rough until we hit something that required Osveta's immediate attention. I have you in another game to kick if necessary.
Pollo Pitius |
I've experienced that same thing and seen it so many times in my friends it makes me honestly wonder what happens in our brains to cause that...
No worries here. :)

I was just about to post about that since hero points are such a pain in PbP.
Consider yourselves at one hero point as of now because we haven't been focusing on them much. I'm looking up a good way to handle generating them, and also reminding me to give them out and players to use them.

Okay, so. Hero points.
They're a core mechanic in PF2 and something I've got in the rhythm of using frequently with my in-person games. They haven't been picked up much in PbP so I'm going to try to implement my own system for them.
1. Hero points reset now. Everyone has one hero point.
2. I am going to create a sidebar in the google slides doc which will show your current hero point totals per PC. That means every time you look at the battle map, you will see hero points.
3. Hero points will reset every 28 days or four weeks, subject to discretion since you may get stuck in long combats. I'm going to see how this works in terms of pacing.
4. I will attempt to reward hero points more readily but please nominate each other for hero points. The game is more fun when the system is used.
---
Now on use of hero points, you will normally be asked to use hero points within your own post. Just like you hit 'preview' to see if you critted and adjust the post accordingly, so too will you be expected to use hero points for reroll. Using them to prevent dying will be done normally.
Let's see how this works.
Game update coming tonight.

Sounds like a great place to start! I personally like the idea of nominating each other for hero points. Feels much more collaborative. :)
Anghariel |
Anghariel doesn't know any fire spells other than produce flame, and it can only be used to target creatures. I don't know if trying to light a torch with it even is an option, but I'd really rather not risk hitting Pollo. (Wanna bet it'd end up critting?)
GM SpiderBeard |
Produce flame will absolutely work on these guys and was effective when you used it.
PF2 does not have any penalties for firing spells into melee.
Pollo Pitius |
Pollo is totally naive enough to assume it was an honest mistake if you lit him on fire instead of the torch... and with his luck, it would almost certainly be a crit, ha! :) He would probably have the presence of mind to light the torch and try to tackle the plant though...
GM SpiderBeard |
It's GM discretion - certain types of remedy will stop certain types of persistent damage.
Treat wounds is bandaging someone. Sounds like that'd stop bleeding pretty well.
Gigon |
Milo, I do believe that a person can only receive one Treat Wounds per hour. Unless you treat them for a whole hour.
Milo Townsend |
Milo took the Continual Recovery skill feat at lvl 2.
You zealously monitor a patient’s progress to administer treatment faster. When you Treat Wounds, your patient becomes immune for only 10 minutes instead of 1 hour. This applies only to your Treat Wounds activities, not any other the patient receives.
