"Did you guys notice that this hole isn't natural? Can't tell whats at the bottom though. Too much water. At least, I hope that's water."
The elf then joins the others on the other side of the makeshift bridge.

The pit looks to be 10 feet down to the water. the depth of the water below that is unknown.
GM Ietsuna |
In the interest of moving us along I am going to move to the next section. Luke, when you can, please let me know what you do about the rope and pit.
About 50 ft. after the pit, the tunnel curves. The tunnels continue on, leading deeper beneath the Kortos Mounts until they eventually open into a large cavern. What must have once been beautifully carved reliefs and inscriptions have since weathered heavily, their features dulled and softened to the point that it is hard to distinguish what each once depicted. A wide tunnel exits the cavern on its far side, and blue-burning torches line the passageway’s walls.
The carvings here are different in style from the petroglyphs found elsewhere. It seems like there might have been a dozen carvings at some point, but only four are still decipherable. As best you can tell, they are images from the History and Future of Humanity, the principle holy text of Aroden.
If you speak Aquan or Azlanti, you get a cumulative +2 bonus on the above checks.

As best I can tell, they are images from the History and Future of Humanity, the principle holy text of Aroden..."
Akkina marvels at the sheer history displayed before her... proof of actual worship by ancient denizens of the island, and proof Aroden actually existed and wasn't just Taldan propaganda and a by-product of historical revisionism.
"...and here... we have The Thief, depicted stealing a gem from a shop while whispering a prayer, an allusion to a passage saying that larceny--though illegal--is a from of praise, for anything worth stealing is also worthy of praise for its craftsmanship; next we have The Soldier, depicted bearing a lantern through the streets of a city, following the dead god’s prophecy that the vigilant shall carry light to the darkest corners of the world to banish the shadows; over here we have The Farmer, depicted plowing four lines in a field, retelling Aroden’s prophecy that humankind would prepare the rocky earth for planting and over generations wear the pebbles down to fertile soil; and finally we have - oh my! - The Merchant, depicted weighing and trading coins of different sizes, a reference to the holy text’s proverb that peace brings trade and prosperity to all people."
Cillian Subtiliter |
The investigator begins to take copious notes about the reliefs and Akkina's insights on the matters. "Quite the scholar. I would love to speak with you at greater length when we arrive back at the lodge."
Akkina |
Akkina nods. "Always pleased to share information with fellow members of The Exchange."
Andros Therinor |
Now that you mention it, I can see the story play out. I must confess, my studies regarding other religions wasn't as deep as yours...I must remedy this when I can. My teacher, Master Marcus, would not be pleased. Andros says, studying the reliefs.
Akkina |
"Explore, Report and Cooperate, Brother Andros. In the sharing comes knowledge. Surely he will not fault young recruits for not knowing everything before joining..."

The soft light of the surrounding fungus mixes with the flickering glow of the nearby torches to reveal a grand chamber. A large pool of water along the chamber’s southern edge reflects the blue and green radiance to illuminate the massive stalactites that cling to the ceiling overhead. Two other tunnels branch off from this area, leading to the east and west.
Rising up from the pool is a column of rock with steeply sloped sides and a flat top, as if someone had sawn off the top of a massive stalagmite. A miniature city carved from this same stone occupies nearly the entire surface. Tiny trinkets such as ancient coins, polished semiprecious stones, and ornately braided loops of string are scattered throughout the diorama, and pale cave frogs clamber atop it. The smooth cavern floor is covered in gravel and pebbles along the edge of the pool, and several foot-long centipedes prowl among the gravel in their search for prey.
This cavern is not unoccupied though. A lone gillmen kneels in the water, seeming thoughtful and unaware of your presence.
The gillman looks at each Pathfinder as he or she speaks, but his expression says little, and he says nothing at all.
He seems rather ‘indifferent’ to you so far, but a Diplomacy or Intimidate check could change that.

He continues to repeat the phase in every language he knows...at the same drawn out pace. He then takes notes between every interaction. The process takes several minutes.

The gillman seems to be watching your lips intently as you speak.
He takes the cloak from Luke with a greatful nod of his head and a small smile.
Hello. My name is Uori. You say you are Pathfinders? Do you seek to commune with the fading spirit of Aroden?

We come here every full moon to listen to the sacred waters. These waters hold much significance to my people, and to yours, although that god has died now and his aura is almost faded from here.
Cillian Subtiliter |
The elf looks at the gillman quizzically, "What do the sacred waters say to you? Also, if I may, why come alone? Are there more pilgrims? Do you take turns. Are you a priest?" Cillian holds his stylus at the ready, eager to record any insights.
GM Ietsuna |
What the waters say to me is between my people and them. It is a very personal relationship. Every full moon one of the holy people of my villiage comes. This cloak here he holds up the cloak handed over my Luke belonged to a friend of mine who had disappeared.

"If we come across any sign of your friend during our exploration, I will let you know."

"Do you have any enemies within these halls? My order has sanctioned me to help, especially if your problem is of an undead nature..."
GM Ietsuna |
I am aware of shuffling and moaning from deeper within the cave system, but we have no reason to go that deep. We stop at these waters.
Akkina |
"Point the way. We shall investigate this moaning..."
GM Ietsuna |
There is the option to perform some small rituals to Aroden in this area. I have never been able to find in the scenario how to convey that it is possible. The rituals are based on the glyph from the previous room. Go ahead and try if you like or you can move forward
There are tunnels the lead on from the left of the pool and from the right of the pool.
Akkina |
Based on her religious studies, Akkina performs the rituals. When complete she heads towards the source of the moaning as per the old gillman's instruction.
Akkina |
Akkina moves slowly towards the moaning sounds, waiting for the others.

The damp air becomes increasingly stale, and the stench of decay grows as you travel down this tunnel. The passage turns east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper and other unusable detritus. The body of a male humanoid lies facedown toward the back.
But before you can check on him or search the room, several creatures lunge out of the shadows.
If you roll 21 or higher, you may ask for more information.
