The tired and thirsty dwarf shares anything he knows and then tries to sneak up on the gnolls if they turn out to be enemies.

If combat hasn't started, he'll try to sneak around the oasis and get a shot at a Surprise Round if things turn towards combat. Not sure where the gnolls are located so I am unable to move my PC accurately at this point.

The GM is conflicted about starting the first fight without a sixth team member so he invited another player that had expressed interest in the game to join. If nobody else shows up he will happily run with just the five of you. Hang tight for a day.

Also, wow we are arcane-heavy, lol. Two wizards (wanna trade spellbook spells?) and a sorcerer.

Gnolls?!? Vile pests... we should dispatch them quicky!

Suddenly the group notices a sixth member who seemingly wasn't apparent before but had set out from Eto at around the same time. He followed the same path as the party, nobody questioning this along the way. Before they knew it he was part of the group, though they hadn't exchanged any words as of yet. Awkward....

The lithe elf has slivery gray hair, a stern expression on a sharp-featured face and, at least for this setting, wears a loose-fitting, billowy white tunic over breeches that cut off above his knees. The rest of his heavier clothing has been stuffed into his backpack, which now resembles a bloated, desert beluga.

At the mention of their would-be ambushers he draws his longbow...


Finally we can get this show on the road. I've been waiting around for days to taunt you all. Now is my time...

The PC are alerted to the impending threat by one another and magically the map is updated with new icons.


@Khargrom you recall in your memories that Gnolls only speak Gnoll and if you happen to know it, they might listen to you. Otherwise they probably just think of you as prey/food. As you start towards their location being very sneaky they don't notice you at all, then you trigger the surprise round for everyone. I moved you the 20' on the map towards them.

This particular sand is not difficult terrain at all. Treat it as normal terrain, using your full movement should you choose.

Bossk Gnoll perception: 1d20 + 2 - 6 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 6 = 8 he see you strolling over. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20 and doesn't believe your bluff at all. He knows when someone is up to no good.
Khargrom moves a little closer and they still have no clue you are coming. Way to stealthy for them. You move like a shadow in the noon day sun, which is really weird because there aren't a whole lot of shadows here and they still don't notice.
Shukara thinks about double moving but remembers she can single move in the surprise round. rewound you a bit.

The sneaky dwarf continues quietly shifting forwards and hunkers behind a palm tree to wait for the enemies to move out of cover.

At half-speed his 15 ft would be a double move.

Anthony continues to hussle through the sand, hoping to safely close the distance. He opts to settle behind the sparse greenery for a bit of cover.


Mechien fires an arrow and hits the unsuspecting gnoll.

Bossk scares the bejebus out of the gnoll because he is too close.

Khargrom breaks out of stealth by snapping his dart at the closest enemy, then follows it up by moving forwards and drawing his warhammer.

He yells to the new elf as he rushes into combat, "They didna say nothin yet lass, but I think the time fer talkin is well passed."

Shukara moves over to grab her unconscious new friend out of the clutches of the gnoll who now looks mad because you are stealing his lunch.
Mechien fails to stabilize and continues dying.
Ray fires off his magic missile and hits the unsuspecting gnoll but it is still standing.
Anthony tries to hit the still standing but bloodied gnoll but fumbles the hand holds on the staff and holds it upside down and misses. Then he realizes that there is no upside down on a quarter staff and he just plain missed.
Bossk rushes up and yells in the gnolls face and "tries" to use non-lethal but ends up hitting the poor gnoll for so much damage that he splits him in two in a non-lethal way. Not the nice clean cut of a sharp blade mind you, the ripped apart and jagged edges of torn skin as he forces the flat of the blade through the gnoll. It is a bloody mess.
Khargrom shows his support of his downed companion by adding insult to injury and smashing the hand the gnoll was using to hold the spear that killed his friend. The dead gnoll drops the spear from its death clutch.

Shukara administers a potion of healing to Mechien.

Khargrom sees what she is doing and suggests that they don’t need to spend an hour on surgery when they have wands and potions, but gives the other dwarf a nod of acknowledgement at her quick use of a potion to stop the march of death. He pulls a fancy stick out and looks around asking, ”Anyone able to use this healing wand I got?”

CLW wand but it appears we need to UMD it. Khargrom does have another potion of CLW if the wand doesn’t work out, but would rather save that for later emergencies.

He leaves the healing to the others and starts searching the gnolls and gnoll parts for valuables.

The potion stabilizes Mechien at -2 HP. I would agree that you save your potions. Wands work until a natural 1 is rolled and it appears we're about to get out of combat...

The elf's bleeding stops, but he remains unconscious.

Ray sees that the others have moved to healing mode, and yet he is concerned there may still be a threat, so he climbs up on a rock to look around.

"Wands? Yah, I can try my hand at it. My pappie always used to say I had a knack for such things."

If all is clear, Ray can try the wand.
