Welcome! It is my pleasure to serve as your gamemaster and guide you on a fun and dangerous adventure. Thank you for joining me here!

Please read the following rules as they apply to my games. By completing the mustering questions, you agree to abide by these rules.

1. If you are color blind or have any other issue that will affect your experience with play-by-post play and use of GoogleDocs slides, let me know, publicly or via PM.

2. Bullying of either your fellow players or me, your GM, is not allowed.

3. I expect posts within 24 hours of an actionable post by me. E.g. combat rounds.

4. Please let me know either in PM or in the Discussion thread if you will have a prolonged absence. And if you have an emergency, please let me know as soon as reasonably possible that 1) you had an emergency that kept you away and 2) that you are (or are not) OK. I actually do worry about my players when they vanish.

5. I no longer bot characters for absent players. After 24 hours of inactivity, the character goes on indefinite delay.

6. The exception to #4 is if you tell me ahead of time that you will be gone (or as soon as reasonably possible in the case of emergencies). However, my botting will be bare bones. You may also proactively arrange with another player to bot you during anticipated absences, but they must also agree to it.

7. I perform resource checks (also known as character audits). The details will be posted separately, but you must be prepared to demonstrate proof of ownership of any and all resources that you use for your character at any time (in an online format).

Thanks for running the scenario!

I'm not sure yet what characters my wife and I will create for it but once we are able to register new V2's, we will get dotted in soon after.

I agree and approve of the above rules.

Looking forward to playing. Thanks for running 2nd Edition right out of the gates!

Howdy all, I'll be updating name and profile in a bit but wanted to get this game onto my Campaign Tab so I'll sneak a ghost dot in there as well. The build is mostly done but it'll be a while before I can get it finished and formatted for PbP.

For the record, I'm playing a lvl 1 Human Divine Sorcerer (with heals). I'll fill out the requested character details once I've finalized my purchases. I will be ready for the start of Gameday.

Planning to go Human Champion, but happy to change if someone else is set on it or we have a glut of melee...

Hello! I'm unsure whether or not I can participate in this game - the sign up sheet had an open seat. I have experience in PbP playing and GMing, and I'd be bringing a Human Ruffian.

Well, I received my drops, but alas...

Quote:

Hey Everyone,

I have some unfortunate news. I regret to inform you all that we will have to postpone Gameday VIII by 2 weeks.

This would place our new dates for Gameday at: 09 Sept 2019 - 17 Nov 2019

WHAT IS GOING ON? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?

As most of you are aware, the majority of the GM’s have not received their scenario support for the Convention to include a good portion of the Specials. With Tonya occupied by other duties this weekend, we realized as a team that we are very unlikely to see the remainder of scenario support drop by Monday the 26th. Multiple avenues were discussed and what seems to be the best solution is to push Gameday back by two weeks. This will allow enough time for the GM’s to receive their scenarios and prep them.

BUT WHAT IF WE ALREADY HAVE OUR SCENARIOS, CAN WE START THEM?

Please hold off until the new start date to be able to eligible for your boon rewards. I understand this is a large inconvenience, we are doing everything we can to make this work. Part of that is to have everyone one the same start / end times rather than scattered.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause, but we want all our GMs to have a chance to shine.

HOW DO I NOTIFY MY PLAYERS?

Go ahead and post the news to your tables. Feel free to copy this email if you wish. We will be posting notices in all the PBP lodges as well as the Gameday VIII Announcement page.

I know this is not what we hoped to do, and I’m sorry. Thank you for understanding that we’re scrambling to fix this.

If you have any other questions please don’t be afraid to ask.

-Tyranius

Too bad, but thanks for the update. Going to use the time to swap to a different PFS character (Animal Companion Druid) l played in a FtF Sandstone Secret game today.

GM'd Absalom Initiation and applied the chronicle to Olnik. On reflecting a bit, I rebuilt Olnik from Scrolls to Spells for Pathfinder Training. Updated my Lore (Herbalism instead of Scribing) and added the two starting consumables (soothe & charm scrolls) to my header. And updated the money based on the extra chronicle.

Getting header and such in order.

Quick question for the PFS experts...the items made available by completing a scenario (usually for a discounted price) - can you purchase these at any time prior to running a scenario, or are any in-between session transactions meant to be completed before leaving the presence of a PFS GM?

| Extinction | url= |

Any time your character is in a place with sufficient resources.

Basically, any time at the end of the scenario, in between scenarios, or before the start of a scenario.

Purchasing those items during a scenario will depend on where your character is at the time you want to purchase it. Tiny village in the middle of nowhere is not going to have wayfinders in stock.

Please post in the discussion with the following information about your character:

Player Name:
Character Number:*
Earn Income or Crafting Roll (please designate which you are doing):**
Faction Boon Slotted:***
Free item(s) given by from schools, or Field Agent:****
Other Boons Slotted:

* Character Number: A character number is your PFS ID followed by your character number, which starts at -2001. For example, my PFS ID is 232159, and my second PFS 2E character number is 2002, so I sign in with "232159-2002."
** Earning Income: You can use a trained Crafting skill to Craft Goods for the Market, trained Lore skill to Practice a Trade, or trained Perform to Stage a Performance. All characters should have a Lore from their background, so everyone should be able to earn a few extra coins. If you want to Craft and are trained, you can craft Common items, and rare items if you have the formula; in either case, they must be your level or lower. You must spend the first 4 days of your downtime prepping. You can choose to spend the additional days reducing the cost of the item further (this will be determined by how well you succeed at crafting). You can read more about these checks in the Roleplaying Guide.
*** Faction Boons can be slotted by every character. You get a free one at character creation, so choose a faction! You can read all about boons here, and factions here.
**** Schools are now a new part of Pathfinder Society. Basically, every agent has graduated from "Pathfinder college," and receives gifts from their mentors before every adventure (these gifts must be returned if not used). At character creation, you receive 3 "Networking points" that represent how much (or how little) you focused on each major that's offered by the Pathfinder Society (Swords, Scrolls, or Spells).

Think of this like a college major: a "Renaissance person" has studied a large variety of subjects and has forged connections with a larger variety of teachers… but those connections might be rather shallow. On the other hand, a student wholly committed to a single subject will forge much deeper connections with their mentors — however, their options will be much more specialized. If you spend all three networking points on one school, you get two free items — but only from that school's list! If you choose to spread your points around a little more, you get one item, but access to a much larger variety of options.

Finally, you can choose to skip school and enter the Pathfinder workforce directly. While you have no connections (and do not get free items) at the start of every adventure, you do get extra downtime to use as you see fit!

Quick flavor/mechanics thing I want to confirm w/ the GM:

I have a drum musical instrument which says it takes 2 hands to use. The bard ability says I can play an instrument to cast a spell as long as I'm using at least one hand. I have a mace. My view is that I basically am carrying the drum always at the ready, hanging at my side (sort of like a marching snare) and I basically always have my mace in my other hand, which I can use to play the drum or to attack.

Am I correct in interpreting that this should work?

Flavor things: Louis, while just a normal Ruffian Rogue for now, suffers from having werecrocodile heritage. On later levels I'll reflect this on mechanics - but as of right now, when he gets excited, angry or afraid, his face slightly changes to resemble crocodile features. I give you, GM, carte blanche on using/not using this aspect of his story, to his detriment or advantage.

You may use somatic components while interacting with (i.e. playing) a musical instrument, which require 2 hands, in the same way that a character can use somatic components while wielding a 2-handed weapon.

However, unless you can cite a feature that states a mace can be used to play a drum, you cannot also have a weapon in hand while playing a musical instrument.

I am going to experiment with 'semi-secret' rolls for this run.

Please make any secret checks inside of a spoiler, and, ideally, nobody else peak at spoiler. Even better if you can resist looking at your own spoiler.

You would make the Society check called for in game like so:

Society:

Society: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

How to format:

[spoiler=Society)
[dice=Society)1d20+4[/dice)
[/spoiler)

Where you replace the soft brackets ')' with hard brackets ']' to activate the code.

You ever seen a dwarven drum mallet?

I took the bit from the Bard Occult Spellcasting feature says "as long as it takes at least one of your hands to do so" to mean that the bard only needed to use one hand to play the instrument as a spellcasting focus ... but I guess it could be read as referring to as-yet-nonexistent one-handed instruments. It seems odd to think that I absolutely must use two hands to play a drum, but one of the quirks of RAW I suppose.

I will be carrying my dwarven drum mallet then, and will swap it out as an action for my nearly-identical-looking mace when needed. ;)

Alas, I have never seen a dwarven drum mallet.

I will take this moment to remind you that:

1. Envi said you should be able to go and return within 1 day (of course, reality vs. plans and such, I get desire to be prepared).
2. PF does not dictate when you eat your meals, at least so far as I have found, so... at least for this scenario, you can consider yourself fed, watered, and rested for 1 day until the next morning.

If we rescue just a mere 10 dehydrated NPC's, we'd be in troubled water (pun intended) trying get fatigued allies home. Maybe it wouldn't slow us, but also maybe it would be worth the cost to carry a few extra waterskins. If we don't have the extra carrying capacity, tis a moot point though.

I do greatly thank you for the lenient view towards food/water, that is appreciated. I have the thought that water will become a significantly more important resource to manage in v2, since create water is now a lvl 1 spell and massively reduced in amount created. :(

| Extinction | url= |

I think you'll find it scenario dependent in PFS. If resource management is a key piece of the concept, it will come up, the rest of the time you'll probably never see it.

That does tend to be the formula for most scenarios.

"You don't really need to worry about 93% of the game, until you NEED to worry about it. Then hopefully you hit the check to get some warning or else... good luck!"

I may actually consider learning the create water spell for Hester at higher levels. It would fit him pretty well.

Could I get a faq or paizo post or errata or something to show that interpretation because the crb does not say any different from the link I gave.

If it said it increased it to 8, I'd certainly agree. But it says it increases it by 8. I'd think that would be adding it to the 1d8 healing that is given in the text of the spell. What am I missing?

None of us have slashing weapons? That would definitely speed this fight up. Hester, if you've got another Heal available, a radius blast might be warranted.

Holy water does good damage, not positive, so it wouldn't trigger their weakness.

That is a solid point. I have one more source to check--mostly to find the source of my confusion, which is likely GenCon early access materials--that is on my computer, so I'll check after I sleep.

Nope. Just poor reading during my GenCon prep. The heightened sentence is even clearer that it is "extra" healing.

I'm sure this is likely defined in the scenario, but let me just say that 10 minutes to identify a goblin corpse seems particularly absurd.

I do not disagree, but it is the core scoring mechanic for this scenario.

I'm not certain the author understood PF2 fatigue. What happens if the whole party hustles and fails their fort saves? Just skip this entire section after killing the zombies?

Maybe, or maybe they just thought that hustling should have a pretty harsh penalty vs. trying a skill in the first part. I honestly figured it would leave me fatigued if I bombed it, but had no clue at that point how brutal fatigued is in exploration mode for this scenario.
