Taman follows Natty upstairs.
Then he recklessly opens the first double door on the left.

Natty does a search of the store room but other than the large red furniture, there is nothing of value or especially incriminating.
Up the stairs, Natty and Taman arrive on the upper hallway balcony and check the first door.
Exotic trophies, ancient relics and glimmering weapons rest atop illuminated pedestals that encircle the room. Some of the pedestals are empty.
Out in the hallway, from beyond the closed large doors further to the north, a booming male voice calls out.
Who dares invade the ancient and prestigious estate of Lord Xojject, the ruling patriarch of the power Cinderfury family? ANSWER!!!
After a very short pause, he interrupts....
NEVERMIND! I already know the enough of who you are and why you are here, but I pride myself as a negotiator and I am willing to make a deal with you and your employer for information.

"Show yourself!"
| GM Aarvid |
The doors open and voice booms out So you are willing to negotiate with civility? With a snap of my fingers, I can have my security forces surround the building and haul you off to the city guard, otherwise.
You see the flicker of flame from within the room.
Despite your illegal entry into my home and attacking my servants, I am willing to conduct business, if that is your intent.
Although so far your actions have been those more typical of common thugs and thieves.
Civilized businessmen would have scheduled an appointment. The last comment made as a snide remark, hinting he knows some of your intent.

I'm trying to keep quiet during this, being less than ideal to interact diplomatically with others. Although I know the value of diplomacy, I'm just not good at it.
Idruzi Zarshai

"We've been invited. Let's go negotiate," says Idruzi as he moves forward.
| GM Aarvid |
As Idruzi advances, he can see a bit more of the Efreet Lord and also notices there appears to be flickering and movement behind the door.
That is close enough for now. If we will be negotiating, we can do so downstairs in one of my meeting rooms.
The towering red jann holds up one hand while keeping another near his belt.
As far as I am concerned, your talk of rights and showing ones face are nothing in the grand scheme of things here. Negotiations and deals operate under different rules than on your simpleminded plane. But you can start, what do you have to offer me for wasting my time with you mortals?
Taman Hornraven
|
"What do you want?"
| GM Aarvid |
The Efreet laughs loudly with a snort.
I only ‘want’ the wealth and power to be the overlord of the entirety of the City of Brass. But by the looks of you, you cannot offer what I want. So let us start with what you can offer me. Otherwise, this negotiation is over and you can depart before my patience expires.

Idruzi waits to see how the creature responds to the questions and suggestions put to him.

At Umberto's question, the towering genie bristles and flares.
WHAT? You practically break into my estate and you do not know who I AM? He settles a bit, but still his pride fuming.
Of course I am Lord Xojject. But none of you and your cultured civility have introduced yourself to me.
He steps into the hallway and the other door opens with a harsh shove from within. Natty is able to see a smoldering, hulking creature in the bedroom beyond.
Now that you have an offer on the table, albeit a weak one, we can descend to one of my conference rooms to continue this negotiation.
What would you seek in return to this book transport?
I will also need perception and/or new sense motive checks from each of you with your next post.

I make NO promises! I did not ask for your menial services, nor am I implying I am accepting your pitiful book offer.
But we can discuss further in my conference room. Zaigan can tell the Efreet is definitely growing more agitated.

Idruzi tries the same with his rapier, but again his aim and the lack of the creature's concern with Natty causes the rapier to bounce of thick rock-like plates, not connecting. (Miss)
