Forest's first blow leaves a nasty cut across the beast's abdomen and his shield bash shatters its nose but the ogre manages to keep its feet. Camil, reaching past Forest with his elongated arms, swipes at the ogre with his bladed scarf. The monster is on its last legs and is unable to properly defend itself allowing Camil to rake two red lines across its face. It sneers just before it falls to the ground and Forest's feet.

Hearing that the northern Ogre has been killed, Kizzy steps back into the hall. She moves to Vale and casts cure light wounds.

The horned ogre (OgreG) yells out something and then lays into the last person who hit him. His first slash cuts Isabella (dmg 13) but she manages to avoid his back swing. She then retaliates with a solid cut to the beast's thigh. Vale joins her in her attack but he still has not recovered from his shock of the earlier attack and his battle axe is sluggish. As last time, he manages to sneak in the hand axe (dmg 4).

Camil hustles down the hall to help with the other ogres (double move). The lightning ball that Zherxikas leaves in place nearly finishes off the ogre to the south-east while the other ball moves toward the newest ogre target.

The ogre to the southeast steps back away from the ball lightning and lashes out at those it an hit seeing how it can't attack lightning. Its first hit opens Vale from groin to shoulder throwing blood all over Kizzy and Forest (crit, dmg 47). The beast is in a frenzy from its pain and its back swing cuts Isabella deeply (dmg 20). The ogre down near Runt steps fully into the hall and tries to hit her but misses scoring the wall instead.

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

Zherxikas' electric orb finishes off the south-west ogre. Runt tears into her ogre and drops it to the ground with a pair of terrible blows. Camil moves up behind Forest and readies to attack the next ogre that comes out of the room. After Kizzy heals him, Vale opens his eyes and is happy to be alive. Isabella takes a breather before moving to the next threat (thought you may want to heal yourself or something).

The ogre in the room lashes out at Forest since he is an easier target than Runt who is behind the doorpost. The ranger easily steps out of the way of the clumsy slash.

I should have specified that, the ogres are large enough that they do count as difficult terrain. That is why I am marking where they fall.
@Z: you certainly may move it to the ogre however I think you need a little better line of sight. I took the liberty of moving your other lightning ball out of the previous ogre room and moving you down the hall where I feel you could see to direct your western ball.

Zherxikas moves to get a better view and shifts the nearest lightning ball into the room with the ogre while calling forth the eastern ball. Then Runt makes a quick climb over the ogre body before her and delivers another tremendous blow, gashing the remaining ogre across the thighs. Vale rises.

The large room Runt scrambles into is filled chiefly with several heavy wooden racks, all bristling with pikes, longswords, and quivers of barbed arrows. On the floor are several pieces of armor. Now that things have slowed down she notices that the two ogres had some pieces of human armor on their forearms and such.

Forest's arm sword arm relaxes, his longsword lowering to point at the floor. "Well that was anticlimactic." He grumbles. Things were just starting to get good. "I suggest we work our way back towards the snake ladies room. If that is going to be our base, we will want to clear the area first. But first..."

Runt checks out the rooms they have already cleared, once again checking for magic. Oh, and the bodies.

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

The rooms are pictures of carnage and gore. The south-east room has a dead decapitated body in the middle of the floor and what appears to be child like poetry written (in giant) on the walls in blood. The room in which the four ogres were encountered appears to have been a barracks with numerous bunkbeds which have now been destroyed. The room to the north looks like the infirmary. It hasbeen despoiled by the guts and organs of a once fat man whose body is currently sitting at one of the tables with a spoon and a bowl of his own entrails.

The ogre from the infirmary and the one from the poetry room each have a magical ofre hook and magical hide armor.

"Ogre humor, I guess. Worse than goblin humor."

Runt calls out the magical items but makes no move to recover them.

I put Runt next to the room I think we should tackle next.

Everyone then gathers about Runt and they begin to search the rooms on the eastern side of the hall. After about 10 mins they make it through three bedrooms that have been ransacked and a library which is in surprisingly good shape. The furniture in the library is busted but the books remain on the shelves.

Do we think those scribbles hold any meaning? I can only cast a certain number of spells, but I could use a slot to cast Comprehend Languages… which might help us here too?! Kizzy is in awe of the library, curious what wonderful tales the books hold.

Once the dust has settled, rung finds her dog and remounts, no longer scurrying to keep up with the others.

To Runt, a library is a sign of power and she stands amazed as she looks about at the amassed power about her. The thing is that she had only started to learn how to read recently and the collection of words was also daunting to her. The idea of a spell to help intrigues her. In fact she had previously bought a scroll of the same spell mentioned.

"Do you think the spell would help me read faster? I'm a slow reader, but I could try the spell. I have a scroll if you do not wish to waste a spell on me."

Which room is the library? None of the rooms that have been revealed seem like a library. What is in the room across from B20? I think that is the one the ogre from the north came out of, right?

I would be happy to cast the spell on you, and it certainly would not be a waste. You will have to tell me if it helps you read faster though and share any good stories you might find!

"Ogres don't write anything useful down." Forest says, spinning his sword. "Let's get on with it." Fighting up from the basement was the last thing Forest had wanted to do, but they're here now and they may as well get it over with.

We can probably leave any loot that's not immediately wanted for a final sweep of the castle when we're done. I assume it's not gonna explode when the end boss dies. Or flies away, as the case may be.

The library (room 21) is a simple one with two sets of book shelves, six shelves high, and what used to be a reading table complete with a pair of lanterns and benches. There appears to be maybe a hundred books between the two sets of shelves.

"This was kind of a relaxing room for those who could read. An alternate way to while away the hours when you're not on watch." Vale said. "I like this one." he said pulling a book of short stories off the shelf.

Having the fort blow up, now there is an idea I could get behind. We could have our own little mission impossible scene.

Runt accepts the spell and struggles through a few pages of writing, picking the simplest book she can find.
