Perhaps we should retreat for a bit? Dont think anyone else knows about these tunnels do they Vale ?

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

"Only the Black Arrows. Since they had no guards on them I'd guess they have no clue." Vale responds.

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

So you staying in this dungeon made up to be a bedroom or headed back out and waiting to recover?

For the morning, let me know what bonuses you are going to drop on Kizzy and we will have her make her saves to try and shake off the level loss. DC 16 Fortitude, one could use guidance and the other could cast resistance (different types of bonuses) for a series of rounds as she makes her saves against each level.

I would like to explore a little more - at least open the doors from her room before we settle in. But I like the idea of taking over the room.

As for Kizzy I planned on an extended heroism in the morning. Kizzy can also cast heroism on herself, though with a lesser duration.

Heroisms won’t stack, so I would let it up to Iron if Kizzy’s spell would be sufficient.

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

You could therefore use Heroism (morale bonus), guidance (competence bonus) and resistance (resistance bonus) for a +4. Just saying. So, assuming Kizzy expends heroism the next morning and the other two aid with the mentioned spells, Kizzy, please give me 4 FOR saves DC 16 with a +4 to your normal save.

Vale described the areas behind each door so I will open them up momentarily so you can see them on the map.

When you explore the dungeon itself, Vale finds several people who were once his friends and allies. They have all been tortured and beaten to the point of death.

Kizzy has 2 negative levels until such time as she can get them restored.

Throughout the evening no one comes to even knock on the door. Apparently, Lucretia liked her privacy and the ogres obliged.

Whatever actions you wish to take in the evening you may. I need a healing roll from Isabella or someone else in tending Forest. If sufficient, he recovers 2 points of wisdom if not he gets 1. I would assume Isabella will prepare a few lesser restorations to get him back up to functional. At 3 and 4 Forest still cannot think for himself but he is capable of taking directions and utilizing his full host of physical capabilities. If you can get him up to an 8 then he can use all of his capabilities albeit any wisdom based capabilities will be reduced of course.

With her Heal of +17 and a +2 from a healer's kit, Isabella can't fail anything up to DC 20. That means Forest should get the improved long-term healing benefits to his ability damage.

The bad news is, restoration to get back Kizzy's negative levels costs 1,000 gp each, and you can only do one per week. So basically she's boned for a while.

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

By the next morning Forest seems a little better. He is mobile and can follow basic directions (4 Wis). Isabella prepares to cast a soell to heal him and to address Kizzy’s loss if energy (a restoration spell costing 100gp in diamond dust would fix Forest, a thousand gp in diamond dust for a negative level. We can assume Isabella has 100gp in diamond dust, i think 1000gp is a stretch without it being specified.)

Isabella uses up her tiny precious sprinkling of diamond dust to cast a restoration spell sufficient to bring back Forest's faculties for the new day.

"Kizzy, I'm really sorry that I don't have the materials handy to help you right now. As soon as we are able to get our hands on some diamond dust, you're the priority."

"This may also just be food storage for the ogre-kin."

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

Forest comes back to himself and is ready to move on. Runt is chomping at the bit to head up the stairs. None of the other denizens of the fort have tried checking on Lucretia.

The stairs reach a landing and double back on themselves ending in a small room with crates, barrels, and a stack of firewood smashed apart and heaped in a tangled pile in the corner. There is one door on the southern wall.

Prepared for the moment the intrepid adventuring team opened the door. Before them laid a long hall, nearly running the entire length of the keep, which ended in a 'T' intersection with another hall. Numerous doors on either side of the hall hid threats and promise. A muffled argument could be heard coming from far down the hall. The tone was unmistakable but the words were too muffled to understand.

"Ugh. Why do I feel like a shrieker fungus?" Forest asks, rubbing his head. Isa explains what happened to him. He does not like the idea that his mind was an easier target for the evil snek than was his body, but there is nothing to be done about it right now, and he thanks Isa. Kizzy's comment makes him blush, which he hides by quickly - albeit awkwardly- donning his plate helm. "You're not so bad yourself." He mumbles, still awkward.

The ranger takes up his sword and shield. "They must know we're here by now, and have prepared." He says. "Yall wanna run straight down the gauntlet, or try a different way?"

Knowing how Z likes tossing fireballs, Runt holds back for a bit and considers her options, then casts a DC 17 Blistering Invective for 1d10 ⇒ 5 fire damage.

intimidation, heroism, size difference: 1d20 + 14 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 14 + 2 - 4 = 17 (I think she just made them laugh)

Forest steps up to the giants, rage in his heart, and cuts into one. Despite his anger at the monstrous humanoids, he still has defense in mind and keeps his shield up.

Spend 5 Combat Stamina to use Martial Flexibility as a Swift Action to take Dedicated Adversary (Giant). 5-foot-step West. Full Attack w/Combat Expertise. Spend 1 Combat Stamina on each attack to raise accuracy by 1 each.

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

Runt's tirade causes all of the ogres to flinch back from the angry little person and then their clothes catch on fire. Forest follows up and nearly cuts one of the demoralized ogres down.

Surprise round (each of you gets a standard action)
