The only major thing at this low of level is that Willow's archetype trades away Trapfinding so she's not quite as good as other rogues might be at spotting traps. That said, she's still invested skill ranks into the relevant skills so she can still find and disarm traps if they come up :)

Thank you Gummybear for the invitation, very excited to sot at your table and play alongside all of you.
My question is what should I bring?
I could fill multiple rolls depending dong onthe restof the party.
On second thought I will bring my alchemists!

Any funky stuff your character can do that I might need to know about? Everyone expects a vanara gunslinger to use her tail for reload shenanigans. However, she uses different shenanigans (a fairly new archetype: the Black Powder Vaulter) that allows her to reload while moving instead.
Has this character played any of the listed scenarios? Nope.

Welcome everyone! I haven't heard from one player, but Blue Moose will be with us eventually too. Later today, I will put up an opening post so y'all can RP with each other if you like!
I forgot to put this in my opening discussion post, but if any of y'all have feedback for me at any point please share! I like to think I have a good GM foundation, but I'm always looking to improve!

Sorry for taking so long, but I had a last minute character change to make, or rather re-build.

Eeee, welcome guys! Glad to see everyone :D

GM Bearington |

First post has been made! RP as you wish, I will move as along to the briefing proper once we have all checked in. We are currently waiting on one more player. If I do not hear from them by tomorrow, I will start us up on Tuesday (unless y'all want a sixth player)!
When y'all get the chance, please fill out your information on slide 2 and throw a token into the stable on slide 3.

GM Bearington |

Gah, I never get that right on the first try -_-
Better now?

![]() |

Perfect, DM!
Would one of my compatriots be so kind as to create a slide with my token and post it for the DM? I post on my phone and never get it exactly right. Thanks to you in advance!

![]() |

Looks like someone took care of it already, Perrine. But I'm confused. You referred to her as a halfling twice in your gameplay post, but her tag line says she's a gnome. Ooh, ooh, maybe she's a halfling that thinks she's a gnome! Do we play along with it, or just look awkward when she does something gnomish? (Or they were typos, which isn't nearly as much fun.)

![]() |

Sigh.....distracted posting is so embarrassing sometimes. Of course, she’s a gnome. I got her mixed up with a couple of my halfling characters unfortunately.

![]() |

@Willow: Yes, yes, you did say that. And I totally missed it. I'm not going to blame poor little Chhat for not paying attention; it was completely Nomadical's fault.
Has anyone reached out to Gary Pepper to let him know we've started? We didn't hear from Amethyst Erentry during intros.

Since this scenario does the quest-giver-switcharoo (which I've never liked. Why would the person briefing you not be the same person to answer questions!?), I was going to take us to the quartermaster before doing a final check in on attendance.

GM Bearington |

I PM'ed Gary Pepper yesterday and just posted in the recruitment thread asking for him as well. I'll give it 24hrs from now before roping somebody else into this ball of fun. If they appear a little after that, I'll allow them to join back in (but with chronicle sheet modifications as appropriate).

![]() |

Hopefully any replacement (if required) will also have a female character. I've never had an all-female-character party, and it might be a nice change of pace and tone.

![]() |

Hey everyone sorry for the random ghosting.
Putting a player post up shortly.

GM Bearington |

Chhat, what is the appropriate response to how you addressed Kakikko?
Great to hear from you Amethyst, take the time you need! Just wanted to make sure you were still around.

![]() |

Chhat, what is the appropriate response to how you addressed Kakikko?
Uhhhh... So, I'm not sure what the formal correct answer is, but here's my thoughts.
I used the Japanese word "Sumimasen" because Kakikko sounds like it could be a Japanese female name given its -ko ending. Granted, within Pathfinder, Japanese is more akin to Minkai than Tein, but that's splitting hairs.
In Japan, one uses "Sumimasen" in a variety of ways. It means "excuse me" and one of the most common uses is when getting the attention of a waiter, server or shop-person which is how I used it. It's not a greeting. I don't know what the servers say back to me at the restaurant when I use it, probably something like "Can I help you?" but my Japanese is extremely rudimentary.
I think in this situation, Kakikko would likely reply with a normal greeting, like good evening (Konbanwa). The only other thing is that since Chhat didn't actually introduce herself, Kakikko doesn't know her name. So she would call her by her job title with an honorific ending attached. She (well, all the sisters) would be "Ejento-san" (Japanese style pronunciation of and word for "agent") unless Kakikko wanted to be cheeky about her Seniority on the crew, Chhat's youth (age 18), or her cuteness, in which case she'd be "Ejento-chan."

GM Bearington |

Thanks Chhat! Very thorough, I'll keep this in my back pocket for next time! :D
So -san is a respectful suffix while -chan is a more informal suffix? As you suggest, context here matters, but is that the general gist? Otherwise I can google translate a term or two in Japanese to get the noun I want?
I'll give everyone 24hrs to wrap up any questions with Kakikko and RP with Amethyst before pushing us to the next step!

The three basic endings are -san, -chan, and -kun. I'd refer you to this Japanese language learning site, which I've found to have the best explanation.
-san = Mr, Mrs, or Ms., is respectful and doesn't signify a significant difference in social status or hierarchy.
-kun = boy, or subordinate male. One English-dubbed anime I saw had the teenage girl character refer to her boyfriend as "boyfriend-kun." There are also times when it can be used for girls, but they're pretty nuanced.
-chan = girl children, close female family members, and pets. Also adults who are considered particularly "cute." Like -kun there are also other more nuanced uses. Of course.
There's also -sama, -sensei, -fujin, -shi and other even more rare honorifics.
Yes, you can address someone by their job title+san, and can likely google translate a job noun to find it. I occasionally greet the guy that guards our airplane as "gaado-san" which is their word for "guard" + "san" as honorific.

Sometimes a player (or GM) doesn't have a lot of time to do research but it's fun to do it when one can, as I feel it can really add a little extra something to a character or a scene. And it can be educational for everyone :D

GM Bearington |

Sorry y'all, moving and graduation got the best of me and I forgot to update this game! I will have a post up shortly.

GM Bearington |

I've removed the DC's from the terrain rules for this area, but otherwise have reproduced the information I have been given.
The lighter green-blue areas on the map represent areas of water that are only 1 to 2 feet deep; these are difficult terrain. The darker areas are deep water, riddled with outgrowths of razor-sharp coral and subject to dangerous tidal currents. Any attempt to swim through these areas requires a DC 15 Swim check as though they were rough waters, and failure on such a check causes a creature to take damage from the sharp coral as if walking on it in addition to the normal consequences. Walking on the coral deals the PCs 1d4 points of damage per 5-foot square. Halve the damage for Small PCs and companions due to their lesser weight. A PC who succeeds at an Acrobatics check negates this damage for one move action. The shallows are free from the sharp coral, but the unstable and sandy ground counts as difficult terrain. A PC who succeeds at a Knowledge (engineering) or Survival skill check can build a bridge for safe passage over the coral.

Apologies for the posting delay; have been a bit sickly. Definitely enjoying the game and the group, though! This is my first time playing Willow so I'm still kind of working out her personality as we go :)

![]() |

I'm at PaizoCon all weekend. I don't know how much I'll be able to post after this. I moved Chhat's token forward to the line, but only so it's in place.

Have fun at the con!

Posting this in all of my games:
As of yesterday, I have moved to London!
1. This should not impact my posting regularity, but it will change when I can post (around five hours earlier now).
2. If you live in London and enjoy playing with me/in my games, shoot me a PM! I'd love to get involved in the local PFS, a homegame, or even 5e (although I'd be brand new at that).

![]() |

Hey, congrats on the move! That's quite a big move! I hope you enjoy your move now that it's completed :)

GM Bearington |

Thanks! :) It is much better being on this side of the move, that's for sure! We are being tourists this weekend (Memorial Day conveniently lines up with a Bank Holiday here) and are going to the Zoo and having afternoon tea! So British :P

GM Bearington |

Does anyone have Detect Magic prepared/available? :) I see Amethyst has Spellcraft trained, did I miss anyone else?

GM Bearington |

Some quick notes for transparency:

![]() |

Hey folks, I'll be heading out of town to DieCon19 and won't return until sometime late Sunday night/early Monday morning. I likely won't have a ton of free time for posting so please feel free to bot me as necessary :)
And no, you do not get to bot me if I'm your GM :P
I know we're currently in the middle of a combat so I'll do my best to check in and squeeze in posts so as not to bog things down too much.

GM Bearington |

In your next post, please indicate which entrance your character would like to proceed through. Y'all can either hash it out in character, or I'll choose the most popular choice. If you intend on splitting the party, please make that clear as well.
Hope everyone is having a great Friday! :D

![]() |

GM Bearington I wanted to give you a heads up as you should know.
I am preparing to run this next week. I will not reveal anything regarding this Scenario's content nor story.
Everyone fear not I will not spill the beans as it were, I stake my Green shirt on it.

GM Bearington |

No worries, thanks for letting me know! :D I trust that you will be responsible with the metaknowledge.

I'm back and rested and have spent the requisite time with loved ones who missed me (the weirdos) while I was away on my con adventure! Thank you for your patience :)

GM Bearington |

Per GM Hmm's request in the Flaxseed Lodge, I have reported our game together. I will modify the results as needed. Please let me know if it doesn't show up in your character's sessions!

GM Bearington |

1. Not ONE but TWO Ioun Torches? I am impressed!
2. Y'all are a great group to DM for. Feel good about yourselves. I like that I can give y'all time to interact and y'all do <3

GM Bearington |

Anyone oppose Perrine's idea of heading deeper into the ship?
Availability updates: I will be traveling this Saturday back to the states! I have no idea if I will be able to put a post up by then. Additionally, the Sunday of the week after that (June 23), I will be getting on a week long cruise! Hooray for me! BUT that means I will not be able to post daily. Is anyone opposed to pausing the game for that week? We would resume July 2 with me having returned to London. We are almost done with the scenario, but not "almost" enough to make it through the last of it in a week.
