Out of Combat! Damage Report:
- Telka -18
- Alaric -10

The lizardfolk have little of interest on them besides a potion of cure moderate wounds each (for a total of 4). Scattered around the nest, however, is equipment that probably once belonged to the mangled body within. The Pathfinders find several broken weapons and smashed bottles, but manage to salvage a climber's kit, 100 ft of silk rope, a grappling hook, a masterwork composite longbow, 20 arrows, a potion of hide from animals, two feather tokens (tree), and a stick charged with magical power (wand of barkskin with 12 charges).

Heal DC 15:
The mangled body in the nest died within the last hour.

Survival DC 13:
Traces of booted humanoid footprints are more difficult to spot next to the next given all the broken vegetation and disturbed earth, but are easier to spot as they move away. The trails seem to split into two groups - one heading up the sloping ridge, and the other further into the ravine.

Additionally, six large leathery eggs sit unprotected in the nest. Surrounding them are the broken shells, splattered yolks, and small embryonic figures of numerous dinosaurs who did not survive the lizardfolk's onslaught.

Nature: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

If they are, he nods at the pathfinders to indicate they should carefully pack them up.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Alaric is fairly certain these are indeed the eggs the gripplis were looking for. As Telka carefully packs them into his handy haversack, the surrounding jungle suddenly falls silent - no birds, monkeys, or other jungle creatures are audible. A few heartbeats later, a bellowing roar echoes through the ravine, causing countless small birds and animals to abandon their hiding places and scatter as quickly as possible. A series of great shuddering cracks herald the downfall of several trees in the distance, and a second thunderous roar pierces the air, followed by the frantic shouts of panicked humanoids. Suddenly, a massive dinosaur bursts out of the jungle to the southwest, pursuing a dozen leather-clad explorers through the ravine. The furious creature sweeps up a straggler into its massive jaws and flings the screaming victim off into the jungle, roars, and rushes toward its next target.

Excellent!

We're in a modified chase sequence - instead of you chasing something, this time the dinosaur is chasing you! Each "phase" presents a challenge, along with the choice of two checks to overcome it. Each PC (sorry, Shredder) can roll either check or use a spell/special ability/etc. to aid the rest of the group (effectiveness subject to GM discretion). After the dice have been rolled, we use the highest check as the Primary roll and any other results above 10 as Aids to boost the Primary further. The party moves to the next obstacle regardless of the result of the check, but failure allows the pursuers to make headway.

The Pathfinders quickly turn and begin fleeing from the dinosaur!

Telka:
Telka hears the eggs within his handy haversack jostle gently and realizes that a bad-enough misstep could jostle the contents of the extradimensional space badly enough to break them.

If you roll a Nat 1 on any check as part of the chase, you'll need to roll a Reflex save to avoid breaking any eggs in your possession - which would be all of them. #NoPressure

The adventurers fleeing from the dinosaur head straight towards the Pathfinders, attempting to place the party between them and the enraged dinosaur!

You can tell them to eat your dust with an Acrobatics check, or attempt to knock some of them down as they pass with a Combat Maneuver check.

@Telka - this variant on the chase rules does not grant bonuses or penalties based on movement speed.

Thran catches several of the strangers by surprise with his branch and they all tumble gracelessly to the ground. As the Pathfinders race away, Tere glances back and sees one of the strangers mashed beneath a gargantuan foot while another is bitten in two by the angry dinosaur.

The creature roars as it continues the chase, but its carelessly heavy footsteps cause a few unstable parts of the ravine wall to collapse. Ahead of the Pathfinders, several large boulders have blocked the way forward!

Witch's Winter Holiday

Telka and Banon guide the Pathfinders around the boulders to a clearing in the jungle. Suddenly, the dinosaur bursts out of the jungle and races across the open ground towards them!

You could try to get off the road and hide from her with a Stealth check, or try to fend off her attack with your own Attack roll.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Between Tere's sudden dissappearance and Thran's accidental bonk on the nose, the dinosaur shifts course to chase after some less stealthy, less pokey prey. The Pathfinders continue moving down the canyon, pausing only where a waterfall feeds a pool and stream that cut across a broad section of the ravine. Fish leap from the water, the broken sunlight glinting off their sharp, oversized teeth.

You could try to jump from rock to rock with an Acrobatics check. Or perhaps you think you can Swim better than the fishies?

Scrobatics, jump: 1d20 - 5 + 4 ⇒ (5) - 5 + 4 = 4

Witch's Winter Holiday

Since the Acrobatics check literally has the word "Jump" in the description, we'll say it counts as jumping.

Alaric rushes up from the back and takes the lead, showing the other Pathfinders where the most stable rocks are. Jethro tries to talk to the fishies, but Tere and Thran retrieve him from the stream before he can drown. The Pathfinders rush onwards.

To the east, Telka's sharp eyes spot a now-smaller group of other adventurers trying to evade the dinosaur by crossing a deep pit. They jump and grab vines hanging off the large tree overlooking the depression, swinging over as fast as they can to the far side.

You could try to sever some of the vines or knock your rivals down with a Ranged Attack roll, or you can use your vantage point to find a shortcut through the jungle with a Perception check.

What do you do?
