Allysen - a basic Construct.
With one Geared-Up Edge, I would buy :
Flight (and Immobile, so 0 Mod slots and $5k)
Armor (+2, 1 Mod slot and $5k)
I'm imagining something like a real-life drone with a propeller (or some kind of sci-fi propulsion that runs on electricity), but larger (like 3 feet in diameter). It would have human-like machine arms attached to it to manipulate the real world.
Whether you stick with the default $1k starting funds or give us more, for a weapon I'd get :
Gatling Laser ($1k, 3d6+4, ROF 4, AP 2, no recoil)
If I decide to get another Geared-Up Edge, I'd buy :
Sensor Suite (1 Mod slot and $5k)
Weapon Mount (1 Mod slot and weapon cost)
And I'd buy another Gatling Laser for the Weapon Mount.

Just some clarifications from before :
Pace 6 is 18 feet per round, if I am remembering right, and I think those squares are 5 foot increments.
Typically in SW games a "square" *is* 6".
I meant to say that in SW, 1" is 6 feet, and typically on the map, one square is 1" is 6 feet.
So Pace 6 is 36 feet or 6 squares per round.

Just a note that I'll be visiting family out-of-town beginning 12/24 until 1/3/20, and my posting speed will therefore slow down. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Allysen |

Merry Christmas every one of ya! I hope you've had a good one and here's to a happy new year!
I am still working on the Star Wars inspired game. Christmas has been very busy for me this year and I have to admit this is turning out to be a bigger project than I had thought. That and Rise of Skywalker was a bit of a buzzkill for me. :\

To: Everyone
Around Christmastime I came down with multiple viruses that left me able to only do two things: 1) Cough, and 2) wish I wasn't coughing.
They also had a pretty good symbiosis worthy of a Magic counter-burn deck: The headache from the cold wasn't that bad...except when I coughed.
I can finally start to see the beginning of the end from here so I thank all of you for your patience and promise to start getting caught up soon.
-cheers

Hope the DM doesn't mind if I post this here...
I'm wanting to run a play-test of a spaceship-combat system that I found posted somewhere on a board, and have modified somewhat.
I'm thinking that the play-test itself would only take 2-4 weeks of real-time involvement (altho we all know how PbP can take longer than you think...). I'd like to run 2 combat scenarios.
To generate PC's, you'd literally only need to allocate points to 4 skills. If you *want* to generate a full PC and/or backstory, that's fine, but not required.
Everyone on the spaceship will have skills that apply to space combat, and so everyone will be engaged during space combat, not just the pilot. Each character will have at most two skills in : Piloting (with 5 possible actions to chose from per turn), Gunner (2 possible actions), Sensors (4 possible actions), and Engineering (3 possible actions). Each round, everyone will have a chance to apply one of their skills to the situation (altho with more PC's, some rolls may only be Cooperative rolls).
The rules are pretty much made up for Slipstream, but I've added some things from Daring Tales of the Space Lanes (in particular, Shields), so the ships are fairly simply defined. I will be giving you your ship, you don't get to build it.
Ideally, I'd like to have 4-6 players. Less than 4, and not all possible actions are covered, and more than 6 means some PC's won't be doing very much. If I get more than 6 offers, I'll take the first 6 that posted an interest.
FWIW, I'll be using the SWEX Chase Rules (just because). I can provide a summary of the rules if you don't have them.
Anyone interested?

GM BrOp |

Thanks for the offer, but I'm busy with tons of stuff at the moment and can barely keep up with my games here, so I'll have to decline for the moment.

GM BrOp |

Sorry about the delay. Am dealing with a lot of home/work issues right now. Will post something new tonight PST.

Hope the GM doesn't mind if I thrash out a few things about the space-combat play test here, since everyone who's interested is in this game...
So, I have 3 players (AdamWarnock, Atlas2112, Decimus), but I need 4 PCs. There should be at least one person who's very good in each of the 4 skills used in the combat system (Pilot, Sensors, Gunner, Engineer).
My first thought was to ask if someone would like to play 2 characters. It wouldn't be too much work because there would be minimal role-playing, just making 2 decisions instead of 1 and making 2 rolls instead of one.
Anyone *really* interested in playing 2 PCs? To keep things moving, please post a "yes" or a "no" so I know your decision. It's not a problem if not, because...
I realized I could play the 4th PC, and probably take the Engineering job since that's probably the least exciting/interesting role.

ALL - about the code paper :
So, Wolfram suggested Morse Code. Assuming - or x could stand for either . or -, I got
- x x x : B or J
x - x - : C (and what about the "2"???)
- - - : O or S
Which doesn't make any meaningful words. Is there a published Greyhawk-system Morse Code, or was Wolfram just speculating?
Isagoras suggested it might have something to do with the candles found with the parchment, but there's 11 - or x total, 5 x, and 6 -, and there's 8 candles (but 11 "things", counting the flasks of oil). I can't see a connection.
Any other thoughts? I'm not good with puzzles/mysteries, so...

Is there a published Greyhawk-system Morse Code, or was Wolfram just speculating?
Pure speculation that seemed to fit the context. I suspect the "2" means to repeat the line. Regardless, not sure we have yet discovered any application for this code. Perhaps it will be obvious at some point.

I'd say that running one PC yourself would actually be quite helpful. I call it the "R2D2 role". Basically you could make Exposition into a character, and make sure that the PCs know what they ought to know.

Allysen |

I second what Atlas has said, though I would have fun with two PCs, the potential to metagame the system to be more effective would be pretty high, not to mention very tempting.

OH buttocks! I forgot that I promised a very good friend of mine First Invite if ever I heard of a new game opening up.
Lemme PM her quick and see if she wants onboard.

Katherine Sunnymeadow |

I'm asking all my folks to forgive me for a few days. I had a friend commit suicide this morning and I need some time to process this. I will be back in a day or three. In the meantime, if you or someone you know needs to talk, PLEASE call someone! Send me a private message if nothing else. I am always willing to listen and I promise that it will remain confidential!!

AdamWarnock |

I am truly sorry to hear about that. My dad committed suicide when I was little. I know how much that can affect a person. I'll be praying for you and yours.
Let me second WhtKnt's offer of opening up my PMs to anyone who wants or needs to talk.
