GM, I went to my copy of the pdf to check the map thing you mentioned.
I was able to copy the whole thing, though my compass rose is in a compeletely different spot, so yours definitely seems different.
Anyway, I put a copy of the whole thing on Slide 2. (Resized the borders to cut out the other map that's included in it)
Use it if you want!
So, we're gonna be finishing up here shortly, but looks like they want reporting in for this Outpost II Gameday. I already have the information I need from Petrok, Touchy, and Elenial. If everyone else could give me the following information as soon as possible, that would be great!
Class and Level:
Day job Roll:
Chronicle info for Touchy on the first page.
Though it is missing a day job roll
Hmm... actually, do I even have one? ...
Oh, that's right!
Touchy makes candy!
Profession (confectioner): 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 2 = 21
Don't forget to note that I am using a GM replay on this!

with due respect GM...life or death saves should be reserved for players (especially those who have remained engaged in the game...as I have)..I have multiple boons that could respond to something like this guys strike..besides which..it's just courtesy, (especially when life or death is involved..)to let a player roll his/her own saves. Having said that...
I have enduring scholar...(+2 saves once per adventure on a save vs spell)
and Inahiyi's Gratitude (check a box as an immediate action, to [0/2 used] to treat negative energy as positive energy (as an undead) 1 min duration)
both of these are available to me...You don't explicitly state neg energy but the term Dark energy is oft related term so I'll present this option as well...
As a side note...this adventure ran well past the convention...some players have simply dropped out because of the length and delay..Though i appreciate you attention to detail...you've often taken breaks...therefore delaying the game yourself.
It should be said I had a lot of fun earlier when post were regular.. and I do think you have a great attention to combat and play PC dialogue well... but taking away a players authority to run his own character his a big taboo with me so yeah...I'm kinda tuned out at this point....let's wrap this up please and close the thread a.s.a.p.
OK I've said my peace...apply my boons as you see fit...I will then let you know what my character does after we've ret-conned yet again..
*edited* because I take it too far sometimes... *doh!*
Petrok, I appreciate your concerns and will try to respond to your points.
Most of your concerns, I feel, were addressed in my second post here in the discussion thread.
Efficiency I will roll most of the dice rolls that are appropriate, and that I can find. You are free to request and roll most social rolls, and obviously your turn in combats. (If you are subject to an effect that requires a save, I will make the save, and tell you the results. This is faster than waiting for your save, then waiting for my response)
If given an opportunity, or your turn in combat comes up, I will bot your character (helpful to have full character sheets in profile) if you do not post within 24 hours. Some GMs may place you into delay, but that can slow down combats, and put a lot of pressure on the remaining players. If I have to bot you twice, I may continue to bot you without waiting 24 hours, until I hear from you again.
For the sake of boons, I understand that those can be complicated or time consuming in a PbP, but I feel they are similarly time-consuming and disruptive at a table as well. More so due to the shorter time constraint. I am happy to redo boon things when they are relevant. However boons do not always apply to every situation, but rolls need to be made, and I stated well before starting the adventure that I would make rolls for the PCs if the rolls occurred during a non-PC turn.
Your Inahiyi's Gratitude boon is more advantageous for you, and am happy to allow you to use that.
As for time, this adventure has two main complaints: it runs long, and it can be deadly. There are up to 5 decently challenging encounters in it. In addition to the roleplaying. I have tried to keep the combats moving by botting characters after 24 hours for two reasons. 1. So we are not waiting longer for each PC to post, as well as 2. for allies to still benefit from that delayed player's PC to still contribute to the combat (e.g. damaging the bad guy) so that way the combats may end faster. If two players don't post for several days, and they are just placed into delay, the 4 remaining members would have a harder time mopping up the combat.
I do not enjoy botting player's characters. It is more time consuming for me, and stress of trying to play an effective turn with a character I may not be familiar with, while also not "metagaming." But I also don't enjoy a party struggling because one or more of their party members aren't posting.
I don't feel that in the course of this adventure that one missed weekday for a local convention, and two delayed posts (I still posted those days, just later than usual) constitute as "often taken breaks." But I appreciate your feedback on expectations of my consistency. As for the lack of a "regular post schedule" I have posted each weekday, usually within a 3 hour window in the morning (for me) and sometimes posted again at night.
As for the convention timeline, it was stated to me that it is okay for some games to run longer than the convention "game day." The reason I was "demanded" to report is because "conventions" need to be reported to higher up in the Organized Play Society ladder. These details are not related to player deaths or prestige, but "how many people attended your convention?" and they get these numbers from our reporting sheets.
The scenario has been reported so the convention can have their seat count, but can still be edited with final conditions of the scenario.
I hope this addresses most of your concerns. Please realize that none of this (the way I ran this PbP, or the deadliness of encounters(I'm running tactics as written, best I can)) is intended to make things "un-fun" for anyone.
I recognized that this scenario has some drawbacks, and hence why I was up front about taking turns within 24 hours or botting, and rolling saves myself. So that things were clear in the beginning, and I was held to that standard to keep things fair.
I look forward to running the rest of this scenario, and hope that you will continue with us.
No need to worry about "taking it too far." I appreciate honesty over sugar-coating. And your initial post, while strong, forced me to do some self-reflection; which I feel can only lead to bettering myself, even if I may have a different perspective at this time. I hope your second look over your post means you're willing to keep with us. :)
Just a reminder, before you get to the chronicles, that Touchy is using a GM replay for this one... which I believe needs to be noted on there =)
|Bruca Lasi/Dark Claw|
Petrok chooses not to participate in the rescue...thanks for running this scenario. You run combat very well...(though I would run some of the important rolls differently as noted previously..) Over-all a fun experience... enjoyed your NPC roll-play as well (too bad I was tuned out from some of it do to a busy schedule right now..but had the chance to re-read some previous post ..particularly the dialogue and found myself enjoying alot of your writing GM)
*edit* FYI... do we need to roll in the game-play thread whether or temp neg levels become perm or not?
Seeing as there was no save to acquire them and they are not explicitly stated as permanent I'm going with them being temporary Negative Levels that go away within a day. No need to roll saves.
I appreciate the feedback on the rolls. Still trying to find a system that is fair and keeps things moving. I will take into consideration for future PbPs.
Also, thank you. I enjoy roleplaying, and this scenario has some fun characters with a fair amount of personality or motivation to play off of.
More importantly, am now up a level. All hail Lord Touchy! Still mostly useless... but occasionally entertaining =)
Thanks for running.
Let me know if the links work for you all.
Also, one of my favorite scenarios ties into this one. 8-02 The Ward Asunder. Explores a lot more of Tanbaru's story.
If anyone is interested in playing that one (it's a level 3-7) I'd be happy to run it! (And I'm open to rolling saves differently. Get everyone's input for what's fun and fair.)
Ok GM got my chronicle thanks again for running this one..I'd be interested in playing 'Ward asunder' if we could get a couple more from this group to join us...I may even take the 'improved familiar feat' to allow me to integrate within the story and take on "tanbaru" as my new familiar.. ( If no one else wants to do the same.)
Just turned 7th lv with this chronicle...let me know if anyone else wants..to play...(PS. my advise on the saves if it could 'kill' or debilitate a PC ..give them a 24hr window to make their own save..if no response from the player..move the game forward )
Got my Chronicle, thanks! And thanks for your effort and running this game!
I'm not going to join another session, because I don't have the time at the moment.
Now I have to find out how to get another pet.
