GM bigboom |
Okay everyone!! Let's get some of the startup administrative items out of the way! Please do the following:
When everyone is done with the above, I'll kick off the mission briefing!!
Pangea-Delta |
Hello.
I'll update my character sheet by tomorrow and fill all the info' out.
Going w. Android Operative (Gadgeteer) level 1.
Pangea-Delta |
Hello all!
Very happy to be here ))) hope we'll have fun!
Thanks for running this...
• Character sheet updated
• Character's info filled out in slides
• Dayjob is: Take 10 for 10 + 14 = 24 x 2 = 48 Cr.
GM bigboom |
Looking good!
Just need Nole Musk (X Hums) and Gamuzali (Mjolbeard89) to fill out their info in the slides and for Nole Musk to update his character sheet.
Then we can get the briefing started!!!
Pangea-Delta |
And we qualify for boons, yay!
GM bigboom |
Nole, can you add your character's details to slide #3 please?
Everyone, it's not coming up anytime soon, but just to get prepared, please post up your character's top 3 preferred starship roles.
Pangea-Delta |
Pangea reads: top 3 preferred starship roles
"Mmmhhh...?"
Engineer - Engineer - Engineer
Engineer
+12 Engineering
Science Officer
+9 Computers
Gunner
+4 Gunnery
Gamuzali |
Preferred Starship Roles
Captain (+6 Diplomacy/Intimidate)
Gunner (+2 Gunnery)
Gamuzali is really not ideally built for starship combat. Sorry, friends!
Tolmu |
I'm in worse shape than all of you. My complete list of skills:
SKILLS: culture(+5); diplomacy(+4); life sciences(+5); mysticism(+7); perception(+7); physical science(+5); profession(counselor)(+12); sense motive(+7).
Pangea-Delta |
Rin Jabo, if I may, you could send a third missile, I think?
Magic Missiles
You can cast this spell as a full action. If you do, you fire three missiles instead of two.

Damn, missed that! Thank you
Pangea-Delta |
Gamuzali, if I may ask: why use two weapons to attack (w. one giving less damage)?
Is it to do one vs. KAC and one vs. EAC? Just wondering if you cannot attack twice w. same Solarian weapon? (don't know much about that class)
Gamuzali |
It's mostly flavor, honestly, though the fact that the gauntlet targets EAC is something of a benefit. I also like the knockdown crit effect on the pulse gauntlet.
Mostly I just thought it would be fun to use two weapons. I'll probably scale back to just the solar weapon at some point, though, as I put more resources into it.
Pangea-Delta |
Thanks )))
It sure looks cool )))
Nole Musk |
Profession(Salesman): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
sorry for not getting the info up earlier. It didn't even cross my mind that I needed to do that. haha!
Gamuzali |
@GM: I just realized I had a couple errors on Gamuzali's profile after I did a 1st level rebuild on him. I've made the necessary corrections, so his stats should all be good now.
Also, I added a Bot Me spoiler in Gamuzali's profile, as I'll be out of town starting this afternoon. If I'm not able to post in time to keep things moving up through Sunday evening, please feel free to bot Gamuzali.

Rin looses lightning from his hands with great force,
Well, that guy in the vid' is slightly higher level!

Accuracy always beats power. Unfortunately Rin is on the bad side of that one
GM bigboom |
We're not yet close to the starship combat that this scenario has been tagged with. However, to get the logistics out of the way, here's the collection of everyone's starship skills that were posted earlier....
Pangea
1) Engineer +12
2) Science +9
3) Gunnery +4
Gamuzali
1) Captain +6
2) Gunnery +2
Rin Jabo
1) Pilot +9
2) Science +7
Tolmu
1) Captain +4
Nole
1) Captain +7
2) Science +5
3) Gunnery +3
With this group, I suggest the following assignments.
Pilot: Rin Jabo
Engineer: Pangea
Science: Nole
Gunner: Gamuzali
Captain: Tolmu
If science isn't needed on any given round, Nole can hop onto guns.
The party may also consider going captain-less and Tolmu can hop onto guns when desired.
Please go ahead and decide how you'd like to assign yourselves to the starship roles and when we do get to the starship fight, we'll be good to go!
Pangea-Delta |
Fine for me to be Engineer.
Pangea-Delta |
Just remember:
• we have two +1's to take from the computer nodes (I'd say give it to the gunners)
• the Science Officer gets a +2
• the pilot gets a +1
(and we add the Pilot ranks to our AC)
GM bigboom |
We're not yet done but we're getting close. So at this time, I ask everyone to take a quick check on slide 3 and verify that your character's details are correct. I'll be using the information listed here for your chronicles.
Now whip your gunners into shape and land some hits on those fighters!!!
------------------------------------------------------
A little tip. You've scanned them so you know their AC is 16. If they manage to evade, their AC is 18. And then their pilot's rank is added onto that, same as Rin's pilot rank is added to the Pegasus' AC. So assuming the pilot's rank is at least 1, you're looking at possibly AC 19 to hit.
So this last round, Gamuzali's roll of 18 would have missed but it was a natural 20, so it hit. But you may not want to rely on natural 20's for all your hits.
To boost your gunner's chance to hit, only 2 methods come to my mind at the moment: 1) captain's encouragement or demand, 2) the ship's computer bonus.
Just something to keep in mind strategically as you press forward!!!
Gamuzali |
Yeah, I'm thinking Tolmu should stick on guns with me. That way I don't need to fire at will to get more weapons going, and we have a better chance of hitting something. Tolmu and I should each use one of the computer bonuses each round. Beyond that, if we get in a decent defensive position, maybe Nole could come off computers for a round here and there and take over some captain actions.
GM bigboom |
I've got another question for you guys. Are any of your characters scheduled to participate in Outpost II, starting on March 11?
Just checking because if yes, then I'm going to impose a hard date for wrapping up this starship combat - it is progressing slower than usual with the number of missed shots from both PCs and NPCs alike!
So post up here and let me know if any of your current characters need to wrap up before Outpost II!!
(Although I am certainly hoping that we'll naturally finish before then!!)
Pangea-Delta |
Delta is fine, no Outpost.
Gamuzali |
No Outpost for Gamuzali either. I'm still quite alright with us going full speed ahead to get this fight done with! Let's get some hits in!
Nole Musk |
I've signed up for Outpost with this character, but I signed up at a low level table, so I'm perfectly fine to launch Tess at that table instead.
Also, Apologies in advance.
This week is my midterm week right before Spring Break, so I've got a lot of work to do. My Play by Post commitments are getting the backburner. I'll still attempt to post every day, but I can make no guarantees for about a week. Once my paper, homework, lab report, midterm, and various other commitments are taken care of, I'll update here.
Tolmu |
I am still having trouble getting my posts through. It's only this gameplay thread I am having trouble with.
When I click on "Submit Post" it comes out like I clicked on "Preview".
Light Laser Cannon(Shoot) vs. Purple: 1d20 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 + 2 + 1 = 22
possible damage vs. Purple: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5

Sorry the starship combat dragged on. After that first round, I expected the fighters to take you down! Regardless, I hope you enjoyed the rest of the scenario!!
Now, success conditions!!
The primary success condition required you to retrieve the data from Illia's computer, which you guys accomplished successfully with ease!
The secondary success condition requires you to succeed in at least three of the following five objectives: 1) winning the gladiatorial fight, 2) defeating the solar elementals, 3) nonviolently negotiating with Razor, 4) avoiding notice from any of Brilliance’s security forces, and 5) hacking into Ilia’s computer with no mistakes. You succeeded in 3 out of 5.
That's 2 rep and 2 fame!! Congrats!!
BUT WAIT!! There's MORE!!
You all have personally assisted Historia-7 in confirming her theory that Arch Energy Consortium is involved in a larger conspiracy surrounding the Scoured Stars. Historia-7 is now one step closer to discovering the identities of these conspirators. And so each of you gain one additional point of Dataphiles reputation!!
I'll work on getting the chronicles up and available soon!
Gamuzali |
Hey Bigboom! Could you please include a note on my chronicle that I gain 1 credit toward the Nufriend Skittermander boon?
Thanks!
Pangea-Delta |
Yay!
We made it! ))) And secondary too!
I didn't find the starship battle specially long or such, and you ran it in a fun way anyhow, so I enjoyed ALL the game a lot!
Thanks a lot for running this!
And be safe all...
GM bigboom |
Alrighty, here are the chronicles: CLICK
Please throw up a post to let me know if your chronicle is okay or if it needs any corrections.
Once I hear back from everyone, I'll proceed with reporting the game and about a day after that, I'll mark this campaign inactive.
Again, thanks coming along one of my favorite scenarios!!
Gamuzali |
Chronicle looks good! Thanks for running, GM! That starship combat did go on a while, but it wasn't due to any lack of skill in your leadership. Even when the rolls were bad, this one was a ton of fun! And I can see why this scenario is one of your favorites. Envar is a hoot!
Thanks as well to my fellow players! I look forward to gaming with all of you again soon!
Rin Jabo |
Chronicle looks great. Really enjoyed the game with all of you. Starship combat was tense, no worry on it taking a little while. It's just that we were skill hounds everywhere else 8)
Thank you for taking the time all of you for a collective and enjoyable time.
Pangea-Delta |
Thanks a lot!
Chronicle is fine.
But it reminded me, this is Boon Support thingamajig... what does that do?
