Well between Myself and Holly, we should have front line covered, but the more the merrier.
Saashaa |
Well, I will assume that the oracle will have the healing covered. Also, having looked at its stat block, it does focus at least some on summoning, so there will be a sufficient front line for sure. I will propose bringing a necromancer, as specials are where he can truly shine the best. Though, I also have a melee switch-hitter, archer (sniper), and 3 healers (though one is more of a buffer). Preferences?

Magor is good enough to backup somebody else at pretty much any role, but not to be the primary at a task. For example, until he gets heal next level, his best cure spell averages only 29 hp. At subtier 10-11, that just doesn't cut it during combat.
If you want to buy a scroll of heal, Magor would be more than happy to use it for you, but short of that he would be better off carrying your body to safety than healing you.

Saashaa, my PC is a necromancer; in case that factors into your plans for character choices. I can also pretend to be an illusionist in a pinch. Additionally, hello again to Holly/Fandral/Adsal! My profile should be updated for level 11 by this weekend.

Miscellaneous information I should know about your build: a build completely focused on animating dead.
Magor Lavablood |
I'm sorry, he was aiming at MAGOR, not Smert, due to the AoO from reading the scroll. I apologize, still getting names and tokens straight.
In that case, nobody has communal delay poison. Magor is dead.
Good luck, everybody! I'll send you a postcard from the Plane of Earth.
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Ha! Don't fret, this is Pathfinder where dead is just a condition. You might yet rise again like a phoenix, minus the fire and ashes and damage to the carpet.

Yami Kurokage |
If you prefer to still participate as a NPC, Magor, I can raise you as a juju zombie so that you retain all of your oracle abilities at least until the end of the scenario. Losing a healer for this will make the remainder very difficult.
Smert |
Losing a healer for this will make the remainder very difficult.
I can only assume he has made his decision with this in mind. It will be difficult, but we can make due. Creativity will be the name of the game. Though....having these things as undead minions will also shift things in our favor. Creativity.
Adsal |
Adsal did his summoning. As an occultist this is just a standard action. I could bring a bralani who could heal our dwarf. Can Bralani use the scroll
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
It can with a Use Magic Device check with a DC of 24, but I don't think the Bralani is trained in Use Magic Device. Anybody have any input?
Yami Kurokage |
You could summon a vulpinial agathion instead, which has Use Magic Device. Alternatively, if the GM is feeling particularly benevolent, you could potentially ret-con your action to UMD the scroll instead?
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
You could, except you took too long protesting and now we must move on. Tempus fugit.
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
It's not called out for larger than PC-sized creatures, so let's go with yes. I would imagine the muck would hinder a BIG foot as much as a small one.
Smert |
Something I would like to remind my fellow players of, though I am not intending to sound any bit pushy or such...
As we have lost our healer, my undead are the only members of the party with disposable hit points.
I am not saying that they should do all fighting, by any means. I am merely cautioning our gung-ho front liners about being as gung-ho. I would prefer to not be the only surviving party member when this is all over.
Smert |
I will not harp on this, but I will say it once, I spent resources to animate those spiders, 2/5 of my animate dead spells and 1,500 gp. Reasonably, necromancers do not get to keep raised undead from scenario to scenario. But tossing my resources out so cavalierly seems a bit unfair. I have said my peace and will accept whatever you decide.
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
The scenario calls out days having passed, so you've got your spells back. You're traveling with a group bent on a holy crusade. I can't see them being okay with your keeping giant undead things with them. However, I have raised this in the GM thread and will see if anyone has a good reason to allow it.
Yami Kurokage |
In the past 3 parts of this special that I have played on this character, every single GM has stated that any animated dead I have made will not carry across between travel sections; specifically for the reasons OMB has stated. I felt this was in line with the RP of the scenario, despite my crowning achievement of this character's career.
Now, I do agree that dropping 1.5k for their short usage is a bit off on the cost/benefit ratio. I would be happy to split the cost of the components you used for the spiders if that lightens the load for you a bit.
Smert |
While Smert would not make these arguments and would likely burst into tears at the thought of losing his friends due to discrimination (he's kinda not all there upstairs), maybe some other tactics minded character would raise theses points.
*Undead are almost always quite effective against other undead. They are not susceptible to many of the things that some of the more powerful undead do.
*They are mindless. They will not do anything other than what Smert tells them to do.
*They are just as fast as a standard humanoid in heavy armor.
*They are perfect pack mules. (Str of 43 and can't get tired)
*They are basically like dogs, just massive and a little lot tainted.
OOG reasons
*This is what my character does. It is basically a pet class whose 'pet' is whatever the scenario throws at us.
*Each of those spiders are 24 HD. Which uses up 48 of the 64 HD I can animate in total, so it is a limited pool.
*This is a special, one of the few times I could raise and bring an army of undead.
*We lost our healer for whatever reason. We need some form of 'regaining' HP. These are just in the expendable sense.
*Once they are dead they are dead.
As I said previously, as you are the GM I will accept your decision.
Holly Day |
Sorry about the blackout period. My computer died and I am restricted from accessing the site at work. I am back up and running now though. Thank you in advance for understanding.
Joe
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Welcome back, Joe!
Smert, after checking with the hive mind, I am okay with the spiders. It is a Special, after all. If you want to command the spiders to walk past the undead, I don't expect the undead will bother them, given their natures. You can pick them up after the canoe ride at the Lost and Found Minions booth.
Adsal |
Also same here sorry, have been traveling.
As I said this is a very special situation. Special situations need special measures.
