Unfortunately, due to a family illness, I'm going to be cutting way back on my PbP commitments. GM, will you please remove me from this game? Thanks and good luck to you all!
GM PaleDim
Hi Birseko, thanks for letting me know! I see you took yourself off of the spreadsheet so that the slot is free to be replaced, thank you for that!
Sorry to hear you have to back out, but wishing you well in dealing with these challenges. If something changes ping me.

Hello! Sorry for not checking in sooner. I'm thinking about bringing Zailus to the table. She's going to be level 2, but I'm planning on having her go through a series of multiclasses before ultimately becoming a devoted muse. I'm unsure if I should have her take a level of Swashbuckler and then fighter to get slashing grace immediately (and hold off on the flamesinger bard part until 3rd level), or keep the bard level and deal with a -1 to damage for a few scenarios.
GM PaleDim
No problem at all! I'm just a bit over-proactive about getting everybody to the table so that they can get those useful campaign notifications :)
I won't tell you how to build your character, but this group could definitely use a bit more muscle, so the swashbuckler or fighter level would definitely help here.

Looks like my post above got deleted. Nalaia here is my tiefling boon. She's a heaven's oracle. Yes, she abuses illusions spells, why do you ask?
In all reality, GM, you need to know that Nalaia (though her stats aren't here yet, sorry. Workin on it.) ignores 3 HD when determining the effects of her Color Spray spell. Otherwise, I believe she's going to be a reach weapon wielder with a moderate AC.
She's not a muscle, per se, but she's no pushover either.

Was that intended to include a link?

No, sorry. Bad phrasing. Should have had commas. Oops. Hehe. I meant to say Nalaia, here, is my tiefling boon. As in, this character is my one and only tiefling from IRL GMing last year.
Oops.
GM PaleDim
So I haven't had much time to prepare yet. I'll try to have something introductory up by late Sunday.
GM PaleDim
The initial slides are up. When you get a minute, please select your marching order on slide 2, and enter your character info on slide 3.
Looking forward to it!
GM PaleDim
BTW, the marching order on the left was simply defaulted with all of your player tokens. Feel free to re-arrange yourself there too.
GM PaleDim
BTW, the APL is 2, so it looks like we'll be playing the 1-2 tier.
GM PaleDim
I've sent PMs to some folks for clarifications on their characters. If you have one get back to me asap.

I thought this was starting LATER this week BLAH! I am getting Zailus's character sheet together as I type, she'll be ready soon!

I have everything finished I believe! It was a rush job so things might be comepletely incorrect, so if you see anything odd or unusual please let me know! I need to get a link to her latest chronicle sheet in her profile still.
Perform(Dance): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Ah, I see. You switched her from bard. I'll re-review her sometime today or tomorrow. These characters are all very interesting :)
On another note, I've updated the campaign info with my botting policy, just for clarity. Nothing surprising there, I think.
As for my routine, you'll find a post most often during the late afternoon and evenings of US/Pacific time. I will strive to stay on top of responding during the day as well, especially when combat or "skill challenges" are in progress.
GM PaleDim
Now I’m extra glad I waited and didn’t bot :)
On that note, let me know if the pace of the game ever feels too fast or slow. When it comes to pre-emptively moving things forward, I try to do so not in a heavy handed way. I’ve been tracking the other two “shield” games in outpost and last I looked we were just ahead of both.
GM PaleDim
Oh, and I will move us forward tonight.
Kyunjiro will be out of town from this evening until Sunday afternoon. I'm already aware of this and will adjust as necessary.

Hey everyone,
You might have noticed I haven’t posted in a long while (okay it’s only been two weeks at most but in PBP time that can still be a while.) I didn’t have an amazing and earth shattering emergency or reason for not posting, which would have made this easier to post. Life just got… busy and stressful.
I knew some stress would be coming and that I might be a bit busy, but things well exceeded what I thought. At first I was just busy (and to be honest, a little lazy) and didn’t post for a day or two, but things starting snowballing and I soon realized I hadn’t posted for days and needed to post something longer and more explanatory than a quick apology, but I didn’t have the time, motivation, or emotional fortitude.
One thing I sometimes do when stressed is become avoidant of some things, especially things that are emotionally charged. Last week was one of the most emotionally draining weeks I have had in a long time. Monday started with seeing a friend of four years off because she has stage four cancer and had to go back to the UK. I had to say goodbye to students and teachers I have taught/worked with for years (which can happen any year but was harder than usual this year.) Having to say goodbye to people is something I handle terribly and I was often going home drained and not wanting to do anything or just wanting to sleep. Additionally, the longer I went without posting here the guiltier I felt about it, which made me want to push this off further.
I shouldn’t have stopped posting here and I am truly sorry if I have made anyone wait, slowed down games at all, or have caused you any worry. I am physically okay, and will be emotionally okay, and work has slowed down some (next week might pick up a little but nowhere near what it was.)
Part of the problem might have been me taking more games than I could handle readily and should probably cut back on some of them. I would love to find out what happens with the shield shard, but I need to lighten my PBP load. I haven’t read posts for the past 9 days, so hopefully you won’t have to issue a 0 exp chronicle sheet (aaand maybe you could recruit someone else?). I’m sorry I have taken this long to withdraw, and I wish everyone the best with the rest of the game!
Sorry if you have/had to read this a few times, I’m posting it in all of the games I am in currently.
GM PaleDim
Sorry to see you go, but I understand. I've definitely had life creep up on me, expand in volume, and make me wish I'd taken on less (usually for much more serious things than PbP, I suspect this isn't your biggest problem by far :P).
Yes, it's still early enough that we can just avoid a chronicle if that's how you'd like to do it. If you're decided, I'll deactivate you from the game, remove you from the outpost spreadsheet, and see if anybody is even available this late.
Hopefully I get to GM for you at some point in the future.
GM PaleDim
Okay fam, here is my recruiting attempt to replace at the flaxseed lodge.
GM PaleDim
Zailus has been deactivated from this game, per the request.

Apologies for my small absence there. Life got busy (last semester of my Bachelor's in Computer Engineering). As a heads up I may be busy for a few more days, but I'll still try to post. Bot me if needed, though. No need to wait around for me to possibly have time to post.
GM PaleDim
No problem, and thanks for the heads up. I remember that last semester... *shudder*. Hope it goes well!
GM PaleDim
Hey folks, good news! We have a replacement player already, with a monk character named Uroon.
He's brand new to play by post, so i've been helping him setup to come join the party and replace Zailus. Hopefully he'll come introduce himself here within a day or two, but since he's new to PbP I expect we'll want to be helpful and show him the ropes of PbP (so it's good that I have a group of veterans :) )
Uroon

What's up everybody, stoked to rock a monk for this campaign! It's my first time on pbp but I have been playing pen and paper rpgs for years!
GM PaleDim
I'm sensing that info gathering in-town gets tiring :) It might be time to move onto the excitement.
GM PaleDim
Info skill challenges are one place where PbP does not do so well, as far as I can tell. In this case we had to have the timing to give you *multiple tries* at the information (i.e., not just the usual dump with one roll a piece), but counting "phases" spent into the evening which can affect the next section.
I suppose I could write up a bunch of NPCs for the bits of info... but they would pass through your lives and clearly be filler. If that would have been more fun and worth your time, that's good feedback to hear (or if you agree that it's not worth the time).
In any case, I welcome all feedback on this if somebody has done such a challenge on PbP in a more engaging way (feedback here, privately, whatever).
We are moving on when I post this evening.

I did like the way it was done with the different "phases" of searching. It emulates if we were going around the table type of searches.
GM PaleDim
The lock is already damaged, so you’re really talking about breaking in the door, which is possible.
GM PaleDim
No problem, Nalaia. Welcome back!

A hearty apology. I appear to have come down with the flu (or a REALLY bad cold). It didn't give me any warning, so I was bedridden the entire weekend, there. Took all my effort to finish my assignments, so didn't have time to post here.
GM PaleDim
Thanks for letting us know. Get better!

My parents will be in town this weekend, so a lot of my time will be spent with them. On top of that, I'll be GMing the entirety of the Ruby Phoenix Tournament from 8am to 10pm Friday at a local con, so I will very likely be unable to post Friday, and the possibility of posting Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are still up in the air. In my Player games, please bot where necessary. In my GM games, thank you for your continued patience. I REALLY hope everything goes back to normal come Tuesday.
GM PaleDim
This module is written a little oddly (it leaves a *lot* of holes for the party to miss things :/), but I'm trying my best to direct things as effectively as possible to get you a good experience. When you want to skip things (like much of the auction), we can totally do that. That aside, I am (as always) accepting feedback both on-the-fly and after the game if there is something you're not liking in the moment. If I can do anything differently to help you get the best RP experience, please let me know :) Otherwise, hopefully things have mostly made sense so far and we're getting to some particularly interesting parts.
GM PaleDim
I'll be away next weekend, possibly without internet. We're on the home stretch and likely getting done late this week or early next week anyway, so I'll think we'll be fine against the outpost II schedule.
If there are any remaining day job checks desired, there is still time!
GM PaleDim
Reminder that I'm away this weekend (and also Kyunjiro, starting tonight). I'm unsure of my ability to post, but I do have all remaining posts (aside from the FINAL BATTLE) ready to post, so I should be able to match whatever pace works for you all.
