Von-Dai frowned. First the green slime, now the derro. He'd need to learn a spell to replicate the effects of sunlight if he kept running into these things. "The derros are vulnerable to sunlight - not an option we have, unfortunately. They can also resist certain spells, particularly those like my magic missile."

The Derro were too spread out for Von-Dai to hit them with a control spell, so he said, "Let's strike fast and hit hard," before casting a spell.

Von-Dai steps into the room, looks over the three Derro, and decides to try and take the one in the corner out of the fight - and maybe leave one alive for information.

Casting aqueous orb on the Derro in the bottom left corner, DC 18 Reflex save. If the derro fails the first save, they have to attempt another or be engulfed by the orb. I placed the sphere on the map. 10' diameter is big.

The Derro is able to avoid the aqueous orb jumping quickly to the side. Zeltyieli takes the clear shot hitting the Derro in the corner. Sevrus moves up and shanks one of the Derro nearly killing the one Marcus had hit. Finding Marcus too hard to hit the creatures turn their attention to those with a clear line of fire. Their aim in not very reliable.

With two Derro next to each other, things were even more fortunate. Von-Dai moved his hands and the orb of water rolled over both of them. As he did, he cast another spell, flinging a gob of acid at the derro in the corner.

Move Action: move aqueous orb. Same Reflex DC. Standard: cast acid splash at the derro not in water. Also, don't forget that I cast haste.

Marcus whips on of the derro spilling its innards. The second derro is engulfed by the watery sphere and the third hit with a small ball of acid.

Von-Dai keeps the ball of water in place, continuing to churn with the derro inside.

The derro takes that damage at the beginning of his turn. He must also hold his breath unless he's capable of breathing water (don't forget to reduce how long he can hold his breath for by 1 round because he took a standard action to fire a crossbow). He can attempt a new Reflex save on his turn to escape into a random square outside the orb. He gains cover on attacks from outside the orb.
