"SEVEN DAYS!" Vocklon sounds worried. He sits down in one of the chairs, pushing the unconscious form out of it. "We are going to die here aren't we?" He says nearly defeated. He looks to Boron for a small bit of hopeful news. "There any clues on that computer where we can even start looking for this site?"
Boron' |
"Yes, the location of the back side is... on the darkside.
That narrows it down a bit.
As for dying, heh, who knows. I died before. It's not great, but not that bad."
Boron taps his symbol of Pharasma:
"The Boneyard is peaceful...
It's where you go after that can be less fun..."

EDIT 2: Forgot to mention, swiping one of the white Eclipse cards that the verthani had across the card reader opens the doors unless I say otherwise.
Through the Southern Double Doors
Off-white ceramic tiles speckled with green glint in the powerful light given off by rectangular fixtures built into the ceiling. Steel doors, some adorned with nameplates, branch off from the corridor, leading to the various rooms within the facility. Compact, black security cameras keep watch from the ceiling, spaced at 30-foot intervals.
From around the corner a white robot looks at you all, its shoulder-mounted gun loading itself.
”INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!”
As the robot loudly alerts, the sound of similar voices echo throughout the hallway!

Each robot has an integrated tactical arc emitter and two batteries. Gonna decide that it takes an Engineering check of DC 15+1.5*CR of creature to safely get an integrated weapon off of a creature (which Boron happens to make automatically with these guys). Inventory Updated
A casual perusal of the rooms around the hallways shows one room near the northeast corner of particular interest: an office with a silver nameplate that says “Kaeon Rhyse.”
Into Kaeon’s Office
A matching chair sits behind a mahogany desk in this spacious office. A pair of filing cabinets stands against the eastern wall. A map of a vast city covers most of the western wall, studded with many silver pins in seemingly random locations.
A search of the desk finds an electronic frame haphazardly shoved into a drawer alongside other office detritus. When powered on, the frame cycles through holographic images of a young adult male verthani shaking hands with a gray-haired human man in medical scrubs, walking across the stage at a graduation ceremony, posing with verthani children in front of a school, and other happy-looking memories.
In addition, in another desk drawer is a black laminated key card. It displays a picture of a smiling verthani male in the equivalent in humans of late 20s—it is labeled “Kaeon Rhyse, Executive Director.” It is the face of the same man on the electronic frame and who left on that first day at New Elysium.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |
I’m assuming you guys took a 10-minute rest.
Inventory Updated With no other labeled areas of note, the group decides to go through the rooms one-by-one going clockwise, starting with the northwesternmost room.
Through the northwesternmost door
This room has more cubicles with more not-very-portable computers on them. On the northern wall are two glass cases with comm units running the Penumbra app.
Boron Computers: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
Boron Computers: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39
Boron hacks into the computer, but isn’t fooled by the fake shell once again and manages to get around it. The same email about relocation to the black site is on these computers as well. Additionally, there’s multiple spreadsheets of sales reports and projections—apparently the recent release of Penumbra was very well received, with 60% of Cuvacara inhabitants purchasing the app within 48 hours of its initial release. Otherwise there is nothing of interest.
Through the north-middle room
An oblong wooden table surrounded by cushioned swivel chairs takes up most of this room. A large vidscreen on the eastern wall currently displays an image of a black sphere limned by radiating golden light—Eclipse Innovations’s logo.
This seems to be some kind of meeting room. There is nothing of interest in here.
Through the northeasternmost door
To the east, metal cabinets provide storage for various food items and utensils. A large rectangular device labeled “Meal-o-Matic Deluxe” stands on the L-shaped counter to the southeast. A door exits to the south.
The cabinets are filled with nonperishable canned foods as well as packets labeled “Meal-o-Matic” that display pictures of a wide variety of cuisines from prime rib to tofu curry.
The Meal-o-Matic Deluxe is a non-portable mk 2 culinary synthesizer that creates meals from specially designed packets (instead of UPBs). Each packet inserted into the machine produces a common-quality meal in 1 minute. It also has a setting for different flavors of coffee and tea, but can’t produce any intoxicants. You can manage to salvage 20 weeks’ worth of field rations from here, but considering that’s 20 bulk for something worth 20 credits, I’m gonna assume that you guys just leave it.
The group advances onward, toward the double doors to the far east…
Boron: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22
Jacob: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30
Volcklon can’t possibly succeed
Xagyg: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35
Before anyone can react, from around the corner appears a single longarm rifle that appears to be built into the arm of a Large, white construct. Peeking around the corner appears a sort of “head,” a single giant red visual sensor giving the imagery of a massive mechanical cyclops.
A deep, booming voice resonates from the robot’s direction. ”INTRUDER ALERT.”
A massive line of plasma shoots out from the robot’s weapon, aimed directly at Xagyg and Jacob!

The blast nearly knocks Xagyg off of his feet, rushing past the shirren to also hit Jacob. As Xagyg regains his balance he realizes that he smells something burning—and that something is him!
Thus ends its surprise round.

At the Meal-o-Matic, Boron does try to see if he can get a helping of dwarven sausages and mashed potatoes: "No beer, but better than nothing."
But he sadly has to drop all this, splattering it across the floor, when something blasts plasma all over.
His mouth full, he calls out: "My meal!"

Also, constructs are immune to bleeding, but considering you basically just did triple damage to the thing (double plus 50% extra), I think that’s a fair trade-off.

Xagyg frowns.
"Now the construct is doing it, as well..."
With an exasperated sigh, he scuttles forward, chitinous legs moving furiously, and takes a shot...
Trick Shot (auto if CR 13 or less).

It is also flat-footed against this attack, and until the start of my next turn.
...but he continues to be too distracted by the fire eating away at his useless flesh.
