As Boron moves in and provokes, the hits makes him start to bleed.

Xagyg fires once at the hulking behemoth, hitting it in its single red “eye.” As he does so the red sensor melts away, revealing the internal circuitry beneath.

The Terminator turns and raises its gun-arm—the rifle slowly starting to warm up as it takes aim at the shirren—before the robot stops. There is an awkward silence mixed in the the tension of adrenaline. One second turns to three turns to six, and when nothing happens, Boron—just to be sure—stabs his blade deep into its mechanical chest, melting its metal frame and removing its torso from its legs. The Terminator is defeated.

Just saying, I was going to put a second one here, but after that initial crit I figured that’d be going a tad too far...that thing hit like a truck!

Boron Engineering w/rig: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40

With a little work, Boron manages to disconnect the Terminator’s rifle-arm from its central structure. It appears to be a yellow star plasma rifle with a high-capacity battery. Inventory Updated I’m currently away from my laptop, so I can’t advance things. Just figure out healing and stuff until then.

Xagyg Burn: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Xagyg:
Take 3 more damage. Yes, this does increase the DC of the Reflex save to get rid of the Burn.

Volcklon smiels beneath his mask as the creature's cannon-like arm smashes creases into the door right next to him. his mind goes back to that dreamscape and how good the pain felt. "Yes, it is exhilarating."

Sparks leap out as Volkclon realizes Xagyg's armor has a small fire. He begins to pat the investigator down.

Reflex Aid Another?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Help me! He's on fire." Volkclon calls out as he watches Boron try to light a new cigar from the small flames.

Actually, technically, it is a free action at the end of my turn to attempt to stop the burning - I just haven't been bothering to ;-)

Xagyg looks down, seems to notice the flames for the first time, shrugs, then tries to pat them out, but not before nodding in approval as Boron lights a cigar from the flames dancing across his flesh.

"Waste not, want not..."

Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22.

He then settles down for a 10 minute rest, meditating upon his pain.

Acquisitives

Jacob Andrews, Mystic 9 SP 81 HP 58 RP 12 EAC 24; KAC 25 Fort +5; Ref +8; Will +12

Jacob sits down behind Xagyg and growls and mutters at him as he holds his hands out, healing him with his mystic power.

Healing touch, it'll heal 45 over the course of the rest.

Feeling "Alive" or not, it's more work for me to patch you up. Don't do such nonsense again!

Xagyg listens carefully to Jacob, and nods thoughtfully.

"You are right, of course - if I let myself get too damaged all at once, I won't be around later to have more experiences!"

Once the party has had a chance to catch their breath, Xagyg moves over to inspect the southern double doors...

| Strange Aeons | Hell's Rebels | ◆◇↻

The set of double doors to the far east don’t seem to open with the white key cards the employees had, but the black one that was in Kaeon’s office does open it.

Through the eastern double doors

This hallway opens to various more rooms.

Through the first door on your left

Two raised examination tables constructed of stainless steel stand in the center of this laboratory. A rolling metal cabinet is connected to the southern wall by a tangle of multicolored wires and emits a low humming sound. Starched white lab coats hang from metal hooks on the eastern wall. Two dead verthani bodies lie strapped on top of the tables while a third lies slumped over in the corner of the room. The stench of decaying flesh overwhelms the senses.

Engineering or Medicine 25:
Much of the equipment in this room is for monitoring an individual’s medical condition.

When someone steps into the room I’m gonna assume the first one’s Boron, the two verthani bodies on the tables rip free of their restraints and all three stand to their feet!

Initiative:
Boron: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Jacob: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Volcklon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Xagyg: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31

Verthani: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

ID Verthani: Mysticism (Boron may use Perception instead) 19:
For a moment these verthani look no different than the ones that were working in the central room—until you realize that these ones are decomposing. These are cybernetic zombies, beings whose cybernetic augmentations cause them to continue to move and function even after all organic bodily functions have ceased.

Cybernetic zombies’ augmentations are susceptible to over-exposure to electrical overloading. Translation: vulnerable to electricity

If you exceed the DC by 5+, then open the spoiler below

Spoiler:
Cybernetic zombies all have a self-destruct feature that damages all within 10’ of the zombie when it is reduced to 0 hit points in an explosion of electricity. This explosion destroys any and all cybernetic and/or technological components of the zombie that could have been salvaged.

Just realized that Xagyg said he inspected the southern double doors, and that's my bad. That said, though, I did say I was taking you guys around clockwise (within logical reason). And considering certain things that I as the GM know, the order in which you go through the rooms is now ultimately irrelevant; the southern double doors might have been helpful to go through if they were, like, the second room y'all had gone to, but not so much so now.

Sorry, I just don't want these dungeon-crawl portions to take forever by having me say "where do you go" after every room. But I also don't want to invalidate what your character was trying to do. When it comes to PbP, I'm trying to make things as efficient as possible while still giving your characters agency.

No worries. I picked those doors, because they were simply the closest ones to where Xagyg was at the time. I'll just let you advance things, in the future.

Mysticism: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31.

"Beware! These things are cybernetic zombies. They are vulnerable to electrical attacks, and when destroyed, they will explode..."

Xagyg frowns, then shrugs, and takes a shot at Red.

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be anything else of interest in this room.

Through the Northernmost door

Two circular tables made of thick laminate occupy this drab beige-and-white room. The floor, however, is littered with broken glass, discarded medical supplies, and an overturned swivel chair. Computer terminals on the tables have shattered screens and cracked keyboards. Drawers in the cabinets to the north hang open, and flecks of dried blood mar the white tile floor.

This room seems to be some kind of medical lab. Among the items strewn about the floor is a smashed framed holographic picture of a young adult male verthani—Kaeon Rhyse—and an elderly human man. This seems to be the exact same picture as the one in Kaeon’s office.

One of the two computer terminals is shattered and inoperable. The other, while it has a massive crack, is still functional.

Computers 25 to hack into computer:
There seems to be two modules of interest:

Work E-mail

Spoiler:
This seems to be the work email account for one “i.qindor@eclipse-innov.org” that seems to be full of many mundane things: meeting invitations, medical-supply orders, etc.

However, there are three things of note. First is a group message in the outbox dated a few months ago titled “Employee Volunteers” announces that the recipients of this message have been selected to participate in an employee-exclusive clinical trial of a brain augmentation developed to enhance productivity and improve stress management. The message details compensation for the volunteers, including a sizable credit transfer and free copies of the Penumbra app.

Second is various emails to HR about sick and injured employees as well as the writer asking to “halt PS 2.1,” with each email growing more and more desperate in this request.

Finally is an email, this one titled “Resignation,” attached with a formal resignation letter. The letter references “violating an employee’s right to be properly informed” and “cruel and unusual punishment.” The letter closes by mentioning to “clean up the mess that was made in my clinic” and “paying out-of-pocket for the medical bill for the cut on my right hand.” The email is dated 26 Neth, 318 AG.

Clinical Trials

Spoiler:
This module is protected by a firewall!
Computers 27 to open the spoiler below

Spoiler:
A number of captioned recordings and text logs are contained in the module. The first recording goes as such, the timestamp dated several months ago:

An elderly human man—the same one that’s with Kaeon Rhyse in the picture that was on the ground—fiddles slightly with a recording camera. Behind him is the same room where you fought the zombies. Someone seems to be unconscious on the stainless steel table as a medical drone hovers over them.

”Is this thing on? The light means it’s going, right? Yes? Okay. Ahem. I am Dr. Ivri Qindor, and I suppose this is my…well, the execs want video proof of the augmentation process for PS 2.1—the neural productivity implant. Well, if corporate wants to be sick by watching the literal brain surgery of 35 employee volunteers, I suppose that’s their problem, not mine. Well, let’s get on with it.”

Dr. Qindor motions to the medical drone, which then starts the surgery upon the unconscious verthani. The doctor proceeds to verbally describes the operation as the drone continues with said operation—every now and then commenting on the patient’s vital signs.

The other videos proceed in almost the exact same way—albeit without the introductory explanation of the video’s purpose—for the other 34 subjects.

The text logs appear to be personal observations of Dr. Qindor of each of the subjects of the aforementioned surgery—usually anecdotes of the employee’s actions during the following months. Things started out looking promising, but eventually the subjects would stop making small talk with the other employees. Then they would stop taking breaks. Then stop eating. Then stop going home entirely. Dr. Qindor sent various emails and complaints to HR about his patients’ physical and psychological health, but each and every request seemed to be ignored. The most recent text log was saved late in the day on 25 Neth, 318:

When the ‘Relocation’ memo went out, management ordered mandatory paid sick leave for the patients. Some had to be sedated and forcefully removed from the property. The lucky ones went to hospitals funded by what I can only assume to be corporate hush money, but others have returned on-site to continue their work. That same day, as I was packing up and leaving, I passed by one of my patients—malnourished yet typing away in her work station. I had given up on any kind of progress with HR, so I normally would have went on my way, but something was different. Her skin was gray and her movements seemed more rigid, and there was a distinct smell hanging in the air. I placed my hand on her shoulder, but she felt cold to the touch. She thrashed at me—I thought she was going to take my head off! When I backed away she just returned to typing. Something felt wrong. I tried to sedate her to examine further, but no matter how strong the sedative she wasn’t affected. A pit was in my gut. I took a risk and put two fingers on her neck. By the time she had thrashed at me again I had what I needed to know: she had no pulse. The stench filling the room was decomposition, and her rigid movements was from rigor mortis having set in. PS 2.1 seemed to have connected to her other cybernetics and took over her body—her dead body. I can’t do this anymore. I can’t. I’m resigning tomorrow. After that, I’m going to talk with Director Rhyse; PS 2.1 must stop, by any means necessary.

Various medical supplies are stocked in this room, including an advanced medkit, two doses of sprayflesh, two tier 2 antitoxins, two tier 2 sedatives, four mk 3 serums of healing, and an x-ray visor refer to pg. 221 of the Core Rulebook because they don’t give sufficient info on Archives of Nethys. Within this dimly lit room, a 10-foot tall terminal constructed of dark-gray metal houses a computer with dual monitors, accessible by two identical workstations.

Standing within are three more verthani employees—these one also seeming to have succumbed to undeath!

Boron starts to move on... before stopping.
"Err... just one sec'. I'll use this real quick."

Each of the zombies hit Boron once, thus none of them are jealous of the others.

Hack into Terminal: Computers 35 (+4 bonus if you use Kaeon‘s key card):
The computer holds several files describing the planned installation of signal transmitters around Cuvacara. An image of Cuvacara contains three sets of coordinates for Eclipse engineers to install this equipment—one each in the Southeast, Spouth, and Northwest Facets. A document explains that the test conducted at New Elysium is going according to plan. Cuvacara will host stage two of the trials in approximately 1 week. Additional recovered memos reference Eclipse Innovations’ new headquarters, a black site on Verces’ Darkside, though no coordinates are listed for the facility.

Culture 15 to open the spoiler below

Spoiler:
The Grand Assembly meets in the Assembly of Nations in Cuvacara’s East Facet. This group includes representatives from each member of the Ring of Nations and acts as a planetary governing body. If phase 2 of the Eclipse plan is anything similar to the events of New Elysium, then the consequences could be planet-wide, possibly even spreading to other planets.
