With a little over a week until the convention ends, when do you want us to do boon rolls?

Will it be handled in the same way as the past, where we fill it in on the reporting and need their e-mail to send it to? How many player boons are there, and since I know the players will ask can you tell us which number is what?

If it is being handled differently this time, please just let me know how it works now.

On a related note, did we ever hear what the GM boon is?

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

I'll be making announcements about boons and reporting when we get close to the end. It's still a week and a half left in this special, and those things should not be done until the very last day or two.

Sign-up sheet| #5-11: Library of the Lion

I've got another reporting question! Are we reporting successes per task or per completed handout/request?

Grand Lodge

Based on this, Editing to remove a Code tag, it appears to be breaking the layout

Quote:
Each district-specific encounter includes a task—typically accompanied by another encounter—that the PCs can perform to contribute to this goal. Each time the PCs successfully complete a task, the Table GM should send a Runner to HQ Staff or flag down a Courier to report the success. The number of tasks the House completes determines the level of their success at the end of the adventure.

I believe it's per task, for example one in F1 (The Brothers' Arches Restored) and another in E1 (Cohort confrontation), the latter can also give an exceptional success. So 3 possible successes in areas E-F (?)

Since I just finished F1 I'll hold my reporting for that success until we get some clarification =)

Since we want 9x number of tables (see pg. 46, calculating results) I believe it is report for each task as well.

Without that, I don’t think you could reach that number of successes.

You're my actual hero. c: Thank you!

My party is struggling with the puzzle. Are the players allowed an INT roll or anything to recall the tile setting? I left the original image in the deck for a long time, felt that was pretty fair.

Scenario and AP Tracker

Would one of the Backup GM's kindly be able to step into Lady Ladile's table until she is able to return?

Thanks!

Here is the link to the table.

I didn't give any sort of roll or anything. I did inform them that alignment just restricted who could attempt the puzzle, it didn't help with the puzzle. That was more a case of anticipating a mechanism that didn't exist.

In live play, we had to draw it in our notes and later try to put it back together. This is a task that a lot of tables fail.

Grand Lodge

Consort Compact Maps | Character Details |

I left the original image in the deck till this week, even. I didn't give them a big *winkwink* when the tiles were originally displayed but I think I've been fair.

One of my players snooped the other tables and it seems like other tables may be offering INT rolls, so I want to be consistent. The player snooping tables is another matter.

Emerald Spire slides |

I didn't give the players an INT roll but I did advise them when they saw the tiles originally that they could take notes (but not a screen shot) so that may have helped. In any case, with the timer mechanism, if they can't get it, they can't get it. I would just tell them no successes and move on.

Knowledge Checks -Sky Key Solution Aid Token

I was one of the GM that allowed in INT roll for it to pass. I think this was the first place my group went, so it was a day or two ahead of the slides coming out. And in the spirit of keeping things moving, I went ahead with it.

Grand Lodge

Consort Compact Maps | Character Details |

if it's alright, i'd like to offer my players that option as well.

Witch's Winter Holiday

I was rather surprised just how much one of my players was able to draw/infer/remember from “in a way that is pleasing to Torag”. Not an exceptional success (those darn dark lines), but one four tiles off isn’t bad.

Biggest question my table had was whether they could rotate the puzzle pieces, which certainly is a yes.

Sign-up sheet| #5-11: Library of the Lion

One of my players actually copied the image and kept it for later reference. He proudly busted that thing out when they got back to the altar, so I got lucky and we breezed right through it.

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Yay! Great job so far, everyone. We are up to 48 successes, and if we get 70, players get maximum rewards. We may stop at that point, even if it's a little early, because OutPost starts so soon after the end of RetroCon.

Season of Ghosts

Hey folks, I didn't get a chance to post here last night but thank you for getting someone to take my table. I've been struggling with trying to keep up and keep things moving the past few weeks but on top of some RL stuff I think I've just hit PbP fatigue. All of my games have suffered for my inability to concentrate on posting and so I'm taking steps to lighten my load.

At this point if the covering GM would be able and/or willing to take my table to the finish line then that would be great and I'm entirely happy to let them have the GM credit and the GM boon for it as well for doing so. If not, I think I can finish things out with putting my other games on hold for a bit until the special wraps up; turns out my other tables have been very understanding of things and expressed willingness to wait until I get my crap together.

Either way, thank you very much to the organizers and backup GMs and I'm so very sorry for the trouble :(

Survivor's Salvation

Question for the miner's district C1 encounter (Preventing Tragedy): Can the dwarves not leave a threatened square? The scenario says they flee as soon as they can do so without moving through a threatened area. I've got the players fighting one of the elementals with two dwarves on the other side so it seems like they're stuck, unless they're able to withdraw and I'm interpreting it wrong. The tunnel's going to collapse, so the next round will determine whether they get a success or an exceptional success.

I would allow the withdraw action. I believe the intent is they don’t want to draw an attack of opportunity.

Survivor's Salvation

Ok, I'll go with that. It seems more fair that way.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Are the Aid tokens still active? They're mentioned in this act (pg. 35), but I haven't seen any being passed around for a while now.

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

OK, we have probably just a little more than 24 hours left, if successes keep at the same rate. You can go ahead and let your players roll for boons.

Each player (including the GM) rolls 1d20. A 19 or a 20 wins a boon. All boon winners need to roll 1d4 to see which one.

(You must let players roll their own boons, rather than the GM rolling for the table. If players do not roll for a boon within 24 hours of your request, you may 'bot' their roll.)

Just to clarify: the scenario has negative consequences for any group that doesn't make it back to the Cathedral before the end. Should we get our groups to move there now?

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

If we end early because we got enough successes, I will assume that the remaining time would be used to move back to the cathedral, so they will be fine.

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

I just reread the relevant part of the scenario, and realized that 70 successes does not earn full rewards; it would earn 2 PP, but only one boon. For a second boon, we need 90 successes. I think you have a good chance of getting these before the convention ends, so we will keep going. Please do encourage your players to move to the cathedral.

So that you can begin preparing chronicle sheets, the following information can be used:

Event name: RetroCon
Event number: 686,721

I will link the reporting website when we are done.

Grand Lodge

Consort Compact Maps | Character Details |

Just reported an exceptional success. How are we looking? I can maybe fit in one more random encounter.

We have 77 successes including your exceptional success.

That puts us at Impressive Performance.

We need the full 90 for Unrivaled Accomplishment, so 13 more successes. That is a little more than one success per table.

If other people are close to an exceptional success that would help a lot. I can probably get one more success from my group, but they are already at the point of just fighting the common encounters.

Survivor's Salvation

Will the players get a warning before the end? We're still working on the miner's district.

GM Redelia wrote:

Since we are not ending early, I believe you need your group to the Cathedral to avoid time closing in on them.

Final Closing, pg. 47 wrote:
Those who failed to reach the grand cathedral before the end of Act 5 are subjected to a painful end as time attempts to re-establish proper order in Jormurdun. The result is the PCs' being turned to chalk statues that their fellow Pathfinders later gather up. Reversing this condition costs 450 gold pieces or 2 Prestige Points. If a PC is unable to remove this condition before finishing the adventure, report his character as dead.

Fortunately the rewards from the scenario are enough to allow anyone to recover from this.

Redelia is the Overseer GM on this, so what she says goes, I am just trying to extrapolate from what has been said here and is in the scenario.

Survivor's Salvation

I was wondering about the overseer announcements that were supposed to happen at specific times in this act.

I did let my players know that time was almost up and they could head directly to the cathedral, but they wanted to follow up on the armorer's district first. (I meant armorer's when I typed miner's in my last post, not that it really matters)

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

There are some announcements, but the problem is that one of them was supposed to occur before we even started this part, because the previous one took so much longer than it should.

Please do remind your players that they need to be moving towards the cathedral. If we hit 90 successes before time is up, I will assume that everyone is able to make it out to the cathedral. I'm not sure how likely that is. You guys are doing very very well, but we started this part 3 days late. One of those days was due to site maintenance, so I may extend by 1 day to make up the difference if needed, but that leaves so little time between conventions!

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

OK, after some consultation with others, I will be adding some 'outage successes' to represent what you should have been able to do but couldn't because the website was down. We're almost there, everyone!

Thought this was worth asking again.

My group is about to fight Bat Girl, aka a Young Succubus. Since the template does nothing to the DCs of her specials, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Got a success in from the last district event available to my guys, now I have a vermin extermination that might squeeze in. I saw 89 successes, so we may be done if someone else reports soon.

I just reported one, and we're at 90! My players are properly freaked out and bolting toward the cathedral right now.

Once my players finish their encounter, I am going to strongly suggest them head to the cathedral.

Yay! That's the end. Very nice work, everyone. I'm about to start the round of posts to your tables, and then I'll come back here and post a link to the reporting system.

Emerald Spire slides |

Great job, everyone. And especially many thanks to Redelia and the other organizers for their hard work. And also so much gratitude to those who pulled together the slides, the tokens, and the text. That all helped so much!

I had played this three times (standard, core, replay) and it was so great to finally GM it and have a *much* better understanding of the actual story. One of my big gripes about multi-table specials, especially when played at noisy conventions, is that as a player you usually have no real idea of what is happening in the story.

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Here is your reporting link.

Thank you, everyone, for working so hard to make this a success. Upaynao, please report your table with you as GM. (I'll take care of Lady Ladile) RePete and Gustavef, I will be in contact with you privately; don't do anything about reporting right now.

overseer boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 10
RePete: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Gustavef: 1d20 ⇒ 1

nope, no boons.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your hard work that made this possible.

Please try to get reporting in very soon, so that all the back-end work to finish up the convention can be done quickly.

I'll close this campaign in a day or so.

Er, my 1-2 group was towards the end of a fight, getting ready to kill the last of the three common enemies. Do they count as being 'safe'? ;A;

Redelia had said the following some days ago,

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Yep, your team had time to make it out. The warning to stop what they were doing and just get out left them plenty of itme. (out of game, this is because we quit early, and I'm not willing to punish groups for that)

Witch's Winter Holiday

Just to clarify for myself - do GMs get all the boons on the Chronicle Sheet? Just the districts our table went through? Just two from the same list as our table?

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

GMs still need to pick two, but they are not restricted based on which locations their tables went.

Grand Lodge

Consort Compact Maps | Character Details |

First, thank you to Redelia for organizing us. This was my first time GMing a MTS and I had a great time.

question: Was there a GM Boon in addition to the potential rolled-for boons?

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

There is a GM boon, which is on its own chronicle sheet and will go out soon. Like most GM race boons, it can be traded if it's not something you want.

Sign-up sheet| #5-11: Library of the Lion

Oh wow, thanks so much! This was a straightforward and fun game to run c:

Thanks, Redelia!
