I had a level 6 PC playing at a tier 7-8 table. Do they get gold for tier 5-6, 7-8, or the average of the two?
^^Seconded - I have two out-of-tier players (5-6 on a 3-4 table).
From previous experience, it works as Out of Tier Gold. So take the average of the two. Unless I am mistaken.

Yep, for specials, OOT gold is the average between the tier they played in and the tier they belonged in.
One of my players found the following in the Guild Guide:
"For special scenarios with 4 or more subtiers, give the character the gold value for the tier that matches his character level, rather than the tier played. Write this value beside area F and circle it."
That seems pretty clear to me, but I would like to confirm before passing out the chronicle sheets for the characters in question.

OK, it appears they did change this rule in the most recent guide version.
Kind of a let down for the player playing OOT, but, rules are rules.
What about GMs applying credit to a 9th level character? Do we average the tiers for that case?
I believe so; the current wording on specials assumes that every character level is covered.
