...
Earlier, in the den
"Well, good cleric, I am from Taldan. I was traveling through this area, before the... the... the events of the other night. I've always been good with animals. That is why I was traveling here. I am, I mean, I was, looking for particularly good breeding animals to buy and bring back to sell in Taldan."Edran pivots the conversation, turning inquisitive and questioning Father Emil. "So, tell me. Do you know if other groups escaped Phaendar or are we the only one? After we find some form of refuge, are you planning a counter attack against the hobgoblins?"...
Emil gives the young man a stern, searching look. Insert Sense motive check here, with a -2 for provincial drawback. "I'm just a humble cleric of Erastil, not a general nor an oracle. Right now, I just want ta git my friends ta safety. Why? Ya want ta settle here an' throw in yer lot with us country bumpkins?"
Emil is familiar with giant spiders, but he's never heard of anything like a human spider hybrid. He hustles around the edge of the web until he can attack the monster menacing Caspan.

Both Selde and Father Emil land their attacks on their enemies, drawing first blood.
Thael knows that Ettercaps have no special defense abilities to be concerned about, but their poison is notorious for lasting so long that it is not uncommon for their victims to become immobilized quickly. Regardless, he blasts them with his magic and manages to blind and stun one of them. The other one however resists its spell and plans to retaliate.
The ettercap attempts to claw Caspan twice, but luckily for the webbed brawler both attacks missed as does his bite attack.
Two of the spiders land their webs, casting Wren and Selde in their webbing. The third spider is stunned and the fourth spider's web flies past Jillian, missing. DC12, 2HP
Web spinners can create sheets of sticky webbing up to three times their size. They usually position these sheets to snare flying creatures but can also try to trap prey on the ground. Approaching creatures must succeed on a DC 20 Perception check to notice a web; otherwise they stumble into it and become trapped as though by a successful web attack. Attempts to escape or burst the webbing gain a +5 bonus if the trapped creature has something to walk on or grab while pulling free. Each 5-foot-square section of web has a number of hit points equal to the Hit Dice of the creature that created it and DR 5/—.
A creature can move across its own web at its climb speed and can pinpoint the location of any creature touching its web.

Not sure where Jillian should be in the Init.
Seeing Emil and Caspan seem to have things in hand with the Ettercap she moves to help the others with the spiders once they get in range or someone uses magic to assist her reach.

GM ShadowLord |

Jillian - In case I ever forget your name in init, just peek at my spoiler in the post where combat starts. I have a premade macro for init, so it will always be there but sometimes I just forget to add a name to the order. Jillian, you are right before Caspan.
Wren - The DC12 was the strength check to burst, sorry. It was an attack roll so no reflex required, you are webbed. You are currently entangled, so you will need a DC 15 + spell level concentration check to cast your spell if you wish to continue down that path.
Caspan - You can move, but you can't 5' step because your movement is hampered. So as listed your action will provoke, let me know if you intend to proceed.
Caspan lands a solid blow on the ettercap, scaring the crap out of the creature. Clearly it thought he wouldn't be moving when it moved up here to attack him. The combination of Caspan and Father Emil flanking him seem to really bother him as he looks back and forth.
Thael's fire roasts the two spiders, but one of them manages to avoid the majority of the damage.

By the time Emil has pulled his scythe back to make another attack, Caspan has escaped the web and is flanking the ettercap. Emil makes eye contact with Caspan when he senses Caspan is ready, he times his attack to coincide with the brawler's, making it harder for the beast to dodge.

Selde lands another solid arrow, inflicting major damage to one of the spiders.
The ettercap, now fearing for its life, unleashes a vicious set of attacks against caspan. First it leans forward and bites his neck, ripping a chunk of flesh out and sending blood spraying everywhere. Next it embeds a claw into his belly, critically striking his internal organs. By the time the Ettercap's attacks are done, Caspan is feeling a bit woozy. (8+7=15 damage + DC15 Fort or suffer 1 Dex damage). The spider-man moves southwest with a quick five foot step.
Two spiders collapse on wren, the small webbed halfling proving too appetizing a meal to ignore. The first giant spider tries to bite her, but she leans far enough away to avoid it. This however, puts her directly in the path of the second spider who sinks its poisonous mandibles into her skin. (5 damage + DC14 Fort or take 2 Strength damage).
The spider in front of Jillian tries to bite her, but misses. The fourth spider is still out of comission due to Thael's spell.
