GM Fireclaw |

Hi everyone! Glad to have you here.
I expect this game to run into Christmas holidays, and I know I am going to be out of town for at least some of that time. As such, any posting expectations will be relaxed between the 22-28 of December. I will not bot anyone during that time, nor will I push to advance the plot during that time. I will try to avoid starting a combat shortly before that. Hopefully folks are understanding. If you would like an addendum to those rules, please feel free to speak up.
As for my typical schedule, I try to post for the game at least once a day, but often I am able to update twice, and rarely three times in a day. The only exception is weekends, where my schedule is erratic and I may not post at all.
What I expect from my players is once a day posting on weekdays, and that their actions are clear, especially in combat. I will generally colour-code enemies, please make sure you indicate your targets clearly so I am not guessing on your character's behalf.
If you have any questions/comments, go ahead! Otherwise I'll take your information and you can standby.
APL is 6.6, so we will be playing up a bit in tier 7-8.
Game start date will be December 3rd.

BTW, I am on vacation from the 8th through the 16th. My wife and I are going to Italy. I will do my best to post in that time, but it may be a bit disjointed. Feel free to bot me as necessary if that is ok. :D

Day Job & roll: (have to check)
Hello,
Thank you for having me in the game!
And hello to my fellow Starfinders and adventurers.
I have to update my character's profile on the site (will do so this week-end) and post his day job then.

Player Name: DoubleGold
Character Name: Applying Credit to Huckle Jim (using raia Pregen Technomancer with this alias)
Number 135676-702
Faction: 2nd Seekers
Day job: Do I get this when I play a pregen? I have the Instructor Boon, which I will slot to forgo a Day job check.

Hello all!
Updated my profile (botting spoiler is at the end in case of need).
Here is for my day job:
Take 10 +16 for Profession "Head of Security" = 26
26 x2 = 52 Cr.
Then apply Acquisitives Social Boon "Known Quantity" to multiply by my rep' tier
so 52 x 3 = 156 Credits
Ready for tomorrow, Dec' 3.
Have a good Sunday and end of week-end all!

GM Fireclaw |

Still waiting on one player to report in. He was one of the level 8s so if we go without him, the tier will be 5-6.

![]() |

If we drop to the lower subtier I plan to switch characters to my level 6 solarian.
Player name: Michael Eshleman
Character name: Hollis Brucke
SFS#-Character#: 766-702
Faction slotted: Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo)
Day Job & roll: Planetary Surveyor: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

GM Fireclaw |

I'll send him a PM but if he hasn't reported in by tomorrow evening then I'll consider him out.

![]() |

Um, it looks like all six of us are here, unless you had seven?

GM Fireclaw |

Buzz Lightyear played by Luke_Parry did not report in yet.

GM Fireclaw |

Ah, I didn't have any of the above information so I thought you hadn't reported in yet (I never use the players/campaign tabs).

![]() |

Yeah, sorry - I am on the road until Friday evening, and don't have my sheets with me, so I haven't had a chance to update Buzz to bring his 'online' persona into line with his 'meatspace' version.

![]() |

BTW does anybody have hirelings they plan to slot? I have a Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo) boon (efficient administrator) that will give a bonus to their skill checks if I slot it.
Also, I do have Abundant Ammunition (to increase the capacity of one of our limited fire weapons) which I could slot instead of Rugged Hull.

![]() |

BTW these are the stats for the Crypt Warden.
▫ Loaned Ship: Crypt Warden (Starship Boon; Limited-Use): You can only slot this boon in a Tier 5–8 scenario, and everyone at the table must agree to you slotting this boon. When you slot this boon, rather than choosing the standard starships presented in the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide (such as the Drake or Pegasus), you can instead choose to take a captured Crypt Warden from the Corpse Fleet (Splintered Worlds 51). The statistics for this hull appear below. This ship can be further upgraded with Starship boons from other characters in the group as normal.
When used in Subtier 7–8, the PCs crewing this ship gain a bonus reroll that can only be used on a d20 roll made during a starship combat encounter. This reroll is meant to give the starship a slight bonus when outmatched by more powerful encounters. This reroll can be used by one PC, and does not count towards the reroll limit for that PC. Otherwise, this ability functions following the rules for rerolls as detailed in the Starfinder Core Rulebook on page 243.
CRYPT WARDEN (LARGE DESTROYER) TIER 7
Speed 6; Maneuverability average (turn 2); Drift 2
AC 15; TL 14
HP 170; DT —; CT 34
Shields Medium 100; forward 30, port 25, starboard 25, aft 30
Attack (Forward) heavy laser net (5d6), plasma cannon (5d12)
Attack (Port) gyrolaser (1d8)
Attack (Starboard) gyrolaser (1d8)
Attack (Turret) light EMP cannon (special)
Power Core Arcus Maximum (200 PCU); Drift Engine Signal Basic; Systems basic computer, basic medium-range sensors, crew quarters (common) mk 5 armor, mk 4 defenses; Expansion Bays cargo hold, escape pods, life science lab, medical bay (modified to accommodate undead)
Modifiers +2 Computers; Complement 6–20

I have a ship boon we can slot for powerup from scour stars (Not at home, so I can't check it.)
Defender of the Fleet (Starship Boon): During the return to the Scoured Stars, you partook in at least one starship combat mission to assist the evacuation of the stranded Starfinders. As a result, your name has spread throughout the engineers and dockmasters of the Starfinder fleet. Whenever you slot this boon, you can pick one of the following options:
Finest Computers: You can improve the computers onboard your starship by one step: from a mononode to a duonode, or from a duonode to a trinode. Alternatively, you can upgrade the computer’s bonus by 1 while this boon is slotted (to a maximum of +8).Finest Engines: You can increase the speed of your thrusters by one step. For example, T6 thrusters become T8 thrusters. You cannot use this boon to upgrade beyond the fastest thrusters commonly available for your size of starship (so you cannot upgrade past T14, S12, M12, L10, H10, G8 or C8 thrusters.)
Finest Weapons: Each of the weapons on your starship is the best available in the Starfinder fleet. When you roll damage, you can reroll any damage dice with a result of 1 on the die; you must keep the second result.

@Hollis Brucke: thanks a lot!
I'm travelling and on my phone, so was going to post stats' later.

GM Fireclaw |

The destroyer to me looks less heavily armed than the drake in Tier 8. It is considerably tougher though, and the lower tier will make checks easier.

![]() |

the lower tier
So, we are playing in tier 5-6?

GM Fireclaw |

the lower tier
So, we are playing in tier 5-6?
No no, I meant the Crypt Warden is only a tier 7 ship, compared to either of the standard ships which would be tier 8. So Starship checks would only have 10 added to the DC instead of 12.

![]() |

Thanks!
Sorry for the confusion (I thought we had not changed tier, but then that we had! Sorry...).

The Crypt Warden has more hull points, but less shields. In combat we can repair shields but not hull points. Combined with the better armaments I think between the two the Drake is a better pick.
Would people prefer an increase in limited fire capacity or a 3 point higher critical threshold? I'm leaning toward slotting Abundant Ammunition (+50% to one limited fire weapon's ammo capacity) unless somebody else has it and wants to slot it, otherwise I'll slot Rugged Hull (increase critical threshold by 3).
GM, are there any recommended boons we should slot?

The scenario does not have any recommended boons. Unless someone objects, we will say Drake then. Looks like most people leaned that way anyway.
You guys still have a chance to ask the VC some questions before I will ask you to finalize boon choices.

![]() |

Drake is fine by me.

Alright, since the Society being part of the playtest took me by surprise, I want to extend an offer to you guys:
If you can have a level 8 "pregen" of the new classes ready in the next 24 hours, you may swap that character in. I don't want to ger bogged down in this since we were just about to begin in ernest. Use level 8 WBL and only make a race you have a boon to play. Otherwise must be society legal.
In addition, this next part is not strictly legal, but you all may use any shield that is your level or below for free. Don't be silly with it (unlimited shields!!), and if any group member feels I am being too generous then say so amd I will nix the idea.

Pangea Beta |

I will take you up on the offer if okay with you and all.
Here is the character I prepared.
I have to sort out the character sheet, but I also put in some calculations (I will check again to make sure I did not mess up, but all are free to have a look and tell me if i goofed).
RP-wise he is about the same and we can just say that the company PANGEA reboots his software and such during the trip to change this android for the Strike Team.
No problem to keep the original if there is any problem.

GM Fireclaw |

Interested to see the Vanguard in play. That is a crapton of stamina to chew through :D
Unless someone has more questions for the VC, I will be concluding the briefing, such as it was, and moving forward with the game tonight. Please have your boon selections finalized within 24 hrs. :)

Pangea Beta |

I freaked when I saw that!
It is a tank actually. Less damage dealt but a LOT more resistant.
I will clean things up asap in my online sheet.
But no boons to slot for me, other than Acquisitives!

![]() |

I left my character sheet at home and won't be back until Thursday evening at the earliest.
Can't recall the boons I have, so I will hold off on that for now. :(

GM Fireclaw |

Okay no problem Goose just as soon as you can. ;)

GM Fireclaw |

Not sure if this was missed but these questions...
"As the good doctor Hollis stated, earlier, Venture-Captain, is there anything the records tell us about the King Xeros? A deckplan maybe? Are we to be allowed to read any surviving mission reports ourselves? Do we have any intel on Peak of Evening, its moon, or nearby planets, planetoids, or moons?"
...have already been answered by the VC to the best of their ability.
"Unfortunately only scraps of references to the King Xeros remain, we don't have any detailed information such as a blueprint or anything similar. Peak of Evening was a modest lunar trading hub mainly dealing in geological and botanical resources harvested from the moon's surface. While the moon does have an atmosphere, it is thin on oxygen, so make sure your armour's environmental seals are in place. The station itself should have breathable air."

OK. Not sure what gun I am shooting, but I fired a shot. Do we know who is on what gun? BTW, are the bonuses from the ship for skills and/or gunnery?
I can change to a Science roll if we don't have 2 guns lined up to fire.

![]() |

Mordack as the Raia Pregen level 8 can't fail as science officer, he should be it.

GM Fireclaw |

Busy past day for me. Should be able to sneak in a post before the end of the night.

GM Fireclaw |

Gear I did not put Boytoy on the map mostly for lack of an image. If you can direct me to an image I'll slap him on there (or feel free to do it yourself)

GM Fireclaw |

Erm... Mordack, you guys are on the ground now in combat. The strafing run was just a one-round combat to beat certain targets to make landing safe. Apologies if that was not clear enough.

Pangea Beta |

Not I, sorry.
Cannot slot boons anyhow.

GM Fireclaw |

Apologies for the slow pace guys. Holiday season came a bit early for me and been busy with family and such. I will try to get in a post or two before I am out of town (on the 22nd), anf pace should pick up once I am back (27th). Thanks for your patience.

Pangea Beta |

Merry XMas to all who are celebrating!

Alllrighty. Hopefully everybody had good holidays (or good NOT holidays if you don't celebrate). Let's get this train moving again. :D

GM Fireclaw |

That post was a bit dense so if you spot any errors let me know. :S
