The moment his spell begins to fade, Martel steps back and renews it. "I've exhausted my best spells for the day!" he advises his team. 5' step east before casting slow, boosting DC to 22. 6 rounds left.


Again, Kaalul misses his opponent but Stauntram strikes a heavy blow.

All of the enemies are slowed by the spell. The wind walker very, very nearly resists the spell but is instead damaged by it. His swirling winds nearly slow to a halt. But he lashes out once more, damaging Martel and Stauntram (14 bludg each). The air elemental strikes Stauntram as well (5 bludg) but the other elementals miss.

I just remembered the orb at the end of the last area that gave us the corrosive effect. Did anyone else remember? It was almost a month ago. Should I retroactively roll?

Stauntram grimly continues swinging, an acidic sheen visible on the chain head.

Stauntram disperses the air elemental with two mighty blows and Martel moves over and strikes the lightning elemental, leaving it weakened. Kaalul lands a blow on the airfiend but it keeps attacking relentlessly.

But both it and the lightning elemental strike out as clumsily as they possibly can, nearly striking each other instead of the well-armored dwarf!

Martel finishes off the airfiend with a blow from his staff. The heroes pant to catch their breath after that prolonged battle. The clouds clear in the room of air, revealing a nearly colorless, slightly blue orb hovering over the seemingly bottomless chasm.

"They are a holy implement," Kaalul replies. Probably seriously.

Is the whole room a bottomless chasm? How far from the ledge is the orb? How high is the ceiling?


The entire room seems to be full of air so high you cannot see a top to the bottom you cannot see either. It must be some magical enchantment. The walls are made of sturdy stone, however.

The map shows how far across this room is.

Fizz sits down and breathes pretty heavily. "I coulda done with ya not takin' so long to finish that."

He looks at the room suspiciously, trying to see through any illusion.

Stauntram doesn't detect any illusion.

I designed this expecting a fly spell to be an option but there are certainly other solutions you guys can figure out.

At the 'lightest' question, Fizz looks around frantically as he slowly begins backing back down the hall. "Now, now boyos. There's no need tuh' be getting ideas. Surely there be other options..."

I think it'd be a hilarious thing to do to throw Fizz over there.

Okay, I've put the orb on the map in the center of the room. GM, please let me know if the orb isn't where I placed it.

"I'd like to hear them. I have no means to fly or hover, and there's no walls that connect anywhere even close to the orb that I could climb.

"We would tie a rope to you, of course."

To identify the new orb

"I could enlarge and enhance the strength of the thrower, and also shrink our 'projectile'," Martel says, "but let's make that Plan B."

He then steps up to the edge and peers over thoughtfully. He pulls out a copper piece and drops it into the seeming abyss, listening carefully.


Martel is sure that this orb functions in the same manner as the orb in the chamber of earth, except that it is associated with lightning instead of acid. His coin falls and falls and falls without making a sound. Very soon, it is too far down to make out anymore.

Fizz looks to Kaal with a very unimpressed look, "Tha t'was not funny. I don' see you jumpin' at th' opportunity to be thrown into somewhere with no bottom!"

Martel watches his coin fall out of sight. "Welp, that's me out of ideas! Let's do this!" He pushes back his sleeves, and gets ready to cast a quick sequence of spells.

Fizz heaves a big sigh as if accepting his fate. "When," he says disheartedly.

With a rope secured around Fizz's waist and shoulders in a harness, and the other end tied securely around Staubtram's right arm, the dwarf heaves and throws the gnome straight for the orb!

STRENGTH: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10


Fizz flies through the air like a discus but throwing a gnome is tougher than Stauntram estimates. The first throw is several feet short. Fizz falls like a rock and, though the rope catches him, he still strike the wall of the chamber.

Need to hit 18.
