Dwarves
Dwarves are naturally hardy and highly resistant to arcane forces. A dwarf has advantage when resisting poison, disease and magic of all kinds.
Magical healing, including that from potions, only has half the usual effect on dwarves.

In addition, dwarves have a 50% chance of sniffing out a handful of gold coins, or a single gemstone, within 60 ft (this chance may increase for large quantities at the GM’s discretion). All dwarves suffer from gold lust and take great pride in their honour and ancestry. The GM may require a Will check to resist new opportunities for riches, or to keep from retaliating against a perceived slight.

Dwarves have better night vision than most humans, but are just as blind in the absence of light. The deep roads are well lit if dwarves are nearby.

Eldritch Champion

Key Attribute: Willpower.

Hit Points: (1d4+4) per level (gains 2 hp/level after 9th).

Armour and Shields: Light, Medium armour and shields.

Weapons: One handed weapons, light crossbows, short bow, sling, and two-handed weapons

Prayers & Rites (1st level)
All Eldritch Champions serve an otherworldly master in some way, be it the faithful service of a cleric, or a more straightforward contract between master and student. The first lesson learned by any Eldritch Champion is how to call on their patron for aid, though usually at a cost. You begin an adventure with one use of this ability per level. You may regain expended uses by taking short or long rests (see page 56).

Calling upon your patron is usually an action, and requires a successful Luck check, modified by Will. This ability may also be used as part of a Rescue. If used in this way, the normal Dex check is still required, but a second Luck check is not. As the Eldritch Champion is calling upon his patron for aid, the Champion may not need to directly intervein in order to save a companion, and this ability may also be used to rescue the Champion himself.

When used as an action, the Eldritch Champion asks his patron for some minor service, usually to further the cause of said patron, even if that is only to gain a greater hold over the Champion himself. As this ability is very open ended, it requires careful consideration by the GM, who is encouraged to disallow any extreme use. In general, the following guidelines are true for all patrons and their Eldritch Champions:
• Only produces effects which are instantaneous.
• Only produces effects which are subtle and small (healing hit points equal to the Champion’s level or minor disease, granting a +2 bonus to a single action,etc.).
• Only creates generic normal items (an imp swoops down and drops the blank parchment needed to make a copy of an ancient inscription, a well-used club inscribed with the god’s symbol is found lying under nearby bushes, etc.).

Spell Casting (2nd level)
Though the Eldritch Champion’s spells are actually prayers or invocations of a greater power they follow all the same rules for Magic User spells, with the following exceptions:

• Bonus spells and all spell effects are based on Will modifier, rather than Int.
• Eldritch Champions do not earn bonus spells from finding scrolls or spell books.
• The GM should either choose the spells each Champion learns or, preferably, work with the player to ensure the selected spells represent powers the patron would normally grant (the Elemental Lord of water is unlikely to grant the Fireball spell).
