Yeah! Phylactery of Positive Channeling here I come!....Or I could get a headband of Cha....Nah, phylactery it is! BOOM! 5d6 healing 10 times per day!

You could afford both but yeah that's a great item. The cleric in my CC game is saving up for that, especially because the GM made the incredible decision to allow channels to heal and harm at the same time with no penalty... In an undead heavy game... So now that cleric is specced for nothing but channels and who can blame him!

sadly they occupy the same item slot

Ah didn't realize the phylactery was a headband. Belt of con then. :P

Nah, it is only 6 more hp. Other things useful for that much.

Your call. Just curious to see what you pick. The phylactery is definitely more fun than the headband, imo.

Sorry, all. I've been on pause for the past week. Spring Break With Small Children + Road Trip = Exhausting. It might be Sunday/Monday before I get a chance to post.

No worries, Kaalul. Everyone should do any last healing before resting then report whether or not you have bedding to sleep on.

Without a bedroll, I'll require a DC 12 fort save to benefit from the rest. Fail and become fatigued.

Hey all, I should be back to normal posting now. Still catching up with many threads.

Looking over gear, I realised three things:

1. I never copied over my final gear list into my profile.

2. I forgot about boots of the earth entirely!

3. And...I forgot to pick up any sort of kit. I'm going to leave it a mystery IC as to why, though I can posit theories!

A heads up, due to a vacation, I will be sporadic at best form March 25th until April 5th. I'll post as able but it will almost certainly be far less than normal.

What if you had that summoning headband from the water elemental? Would a swift action every now and then inhibit you?

A fair question, and no, it wouldn't inhibit me. But I, as a player, do not feel a need to do something every single round. I am plenty happy just healing the crew and attempting some comedic relief.

Yeah while Fizz might be a little more effective if he used a crossbow or something when not healing, he's plenty effective as is and it helps cultivate an amusing character.

Nothing safe about that.

Fizz, I'm building a life oracle at the moment and I'm wondering what the breakdown is of how you've boosted your channels/heals. I've often seen some bonuses I'm unfamiliar with and want to consider useful options for my character. Thanks.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Oracle (Spirit Guide) (Life) - (this gives you two separate pools of channel)
Feats - Fey Foundling (this gives an extra 2 healing per die used in healing)
Alternate Racial Traits - Vivacious (this gives extra healing on spells cast onto the character equal to half caster level)
Phylactery of Positive Channeling (this adds 2 dice to any positive channel)

Ok cool those were what I was thinking. I've considered vivacious on this character... Still unsure. It trades away a lot... I'd like to keep keen senses and trade gnome magic for fey magic. I did take scarred by war though, as you mentioned earlier.

I know some people don't think that combo would give two pools of channels but I'm fine with it.

Elemental Forge GM wrote:

Since this is just a short fun dungeon crawl, I’m looking for a specific mix of classes/party roles:

Arcane caster: Played by an arcanist.
Divine caster: Played by an oracle.
Skills/traps: Played by an inquisitor
Fighter-type role: Played by a Fighter, Barbarian, Paladin, UC monk, Ranger, Cavalier, or Samurai

So what's the verdict, GM? Are you seeing what you were hoping to see with this mix of classes? Just curious.

I play an arcanist in another campaign, and I really like the class. Daily spell selection becomes crucially important until you can get the exploit that lets you switch out spells almost on the fly, but the flavor of the class is really fun.

I've never played an oracle (favored soul, yes; oracle, no) mainly because I never envision a character where the curse is such a large part of the background (or I just don't want to put up with the mechanical penalty the curse bestows).

I've never played a Pathfinder ranger or samurai (although I've GMed for both), so those probably would have been my picks if I were going for the fighter role, but I have to admit that a Dwarven Stonelord seems to be a great match for this adventure.

This is my first inquisitor. It's a powerful class, but it's a bit too fiddly for my tastes. Too many uses-per-day abilities (and options for those abilities) than I like to keep track of. But I'm enjoying Kaalul, and I liked the challenge of making an inquisitor a trap-finder.

Good question! I would say that inquisitor fills the rogue well very well, better than a rogue in a lot of ways. Stonelord paladin has been doing just fine as the fighter type and I like arcanist as much if not more than wizard. Fizz is the oddball here in that he is extremely effective at keeping the party's hp where it needs to be. But I wouldn't exactly compare him to a typical cleric, if you know what I mean. XD The two do VERY different things.

Honestly, I find rogue is a bit of a weaker class in Pathfinder. Not that rogues can't be effective, but other classes frankly do their roles in a superior fashion and have other roles.

Arcanist seems to be doing just fine, as is Stonelord!

And Fizz...a compact healing machine.

I try...

Though, with the advent of the unchained rogue, I would very much disagree with you. A well built level 6 unchained rogue can be a sight to behold. I theory crafted a very impressive one a bit back. Though it was an evil concept character, it doesn't have to be...it would thematically be a bit of a stretch otherwise...but possibly doable.

I agree unchained rogue is a big step up.

Will update as soon as I can get to my computer. Should be an hour or two.

Kaalul has had multiple interesting ideas lately where I've thought "Huh. That's cool. Just not what I did." *Shrugs* Something spawning fire elementals would be cool. Also, it's just your weapons that unlock the door.

Going to see Endgame so will put map up later.

Oh I think unchained rogue is a big improvement, playing one who is just after making a giantess flee in terror repeatedly. But his focus on intimidation came at the cost of other things.

Looking forward to the endgame!

Kaalul's buff plan before heading into the next room:

heightened awareness - lasts one hour, but I'll probably fire it for the initiative bonus when the battle starts

see invisibility - lasts one hour

communal protection from evil - lasts 6 minutes

invisibility on Kaalul - lasts 6 minutes
