Sorry, he's within reach (5'). Also, make a Will save when you attack him and you might get some additional info.

Will save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14+2 vs. enchantments
Auberon goes into a flurry of attacks against the brine dragon, using ki to attack faster than normal.
Attack 1 w/ PA: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 2 = 27
confirm?: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 2 = 10
dmg 1 w/ PA: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
Attack 2 w/ PA: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 2 = 23
dmg 2 w/ PA: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
Attack 3 w/ PA: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 - 2 = 24
dmg 3 w/ PA: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

Well, the dice roller likes someone.
Your 2nd attack would knock the dragon unconscious. Would you attack it a 3rd time?

![]() |

no, I'd leave him alone.

GM MattMorris |

The dragon falls unconscious. As he hits the ground, his form shimmers, revealing that he was a Medium-sized dragon under some kind of glamour.
Stabilize: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Let me know if you want to stabilize him.
With the dragon out of commission, you are able to examine the planar anomaly more closely. In addition to what Auberon deduced earlier, you imagine that elementals and other summoned creatures from its own planes would likely be drawn into it and beyond, while those of earth and fire are weakened within its range. It seems unlikely that you would be able to close the rift at this time, though the agitation in the water surrounding it has subsided somewhat with the fall of the dragon.
While the dragon does not appear to be carrying anything of value, you notice an open chest near the back of the alcove.
The chest contains a +1 frost longsword, a potion of greater magic fang, 50 feet of spider’s silk rope, and 250
gold pieces in assorted coins. Additionally, the chest includes a sheaf of notes and research on the anomaly.

appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Auberon makes sure they loot the useful and valuable items from the dragon's "hoard" and then suggests to the group:
"Perhaps it is time to report what we've found. It will take planar specialists to close this breach. But what to do with the dragon. I am not one to kill it now that it is down, but it may return to pester us further."

![]() |

”I would like to question it. Its knowledge about the rift could save us a lot of time, but how does one restrain a dragon?”

GM MattMorris |

The dragon is only Medium sized. You could tie it up and throw it in your swan boat. It's likely to be unconscious for a few days without magical healing.

![]() |

Using rope, Auberon binds the brine dragon with whomever can help, and then lugs it back to the swan boat.
"I believe we should now return to the Venture-Captain."

"Hear, hear"

GM MattMorris |

Though difficult to pilot against the current, the waning of the planar rift allows you to manage to pilot the swan boat against the current, if only barely.
As you head back toward you rendezvous with the Grinning Pixie,a pinpoint on the horizon resolves into the sight of another small boat. As it nears, it brings with it the fragrant scents and bright colors of garlands of flowers. In the boat are several masked figures, unarmed and wearing ceremonial regalia. They seem shocked to see a vessel emerging from the cave, and stare openly. “What was your business in the sacred grotto of our god?” one of them calls. “No one, not even we, may enter!”

GM MattMorris |

The cultists reply, "Ah, we have come to offer treasures to the sacred wind and waves. You say this dragon had taken up residence in the caves? How concerning!" The cultist leader appears thoughtful for a moment. "Though it is forbidden to enter the cave, you did the Eye a service by removing that creature. We will not interfere with you." With that, the cultists continue toward the caves, muttering about cleansing them.
If you want to say anything else to the cultists, you can! Or, you can continue to the ship.

Torn about whether or not to tell them about the portal in the cave, Auberon decides to remain silent.

local: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
El-G is happy to leave the talking to his compatriots.

GM MattMorris |

The cultist recede into the distance to do cult things.
You return to the Grinning Pixie and find Calisro Benarry waiting, with a few exhausted sailors. These are the survivors of the shipwreck, whom Benarry found in Driftport. Comparing notes with Benarry and the survivors you are able to verify the account of mutiny that you discovered on the wreck.
Benarry says, "You seem to have found the actual source of the strange currents. My contacts tell me that the Master of Gales has been in Port Peril on official business for several months and is therefore unlikely to be involved. A portal of both water and air is unusual, however, and I will inform the Pathfinder Society so that they can send experts to further study the anomaly. No doubt they will interrogate the dragon when they arrive. Thank you for your hard work, agents!"
And with that, you have successfully completed your mission! Exploring the wreck and returning with the captain's log earned you your first Prestige Point, and defeating the dragon earned you the second, and some boons. I'll get chronicle sheets up for you guys soon. Thanks for a really fun game!

Thanks, Matt!

Thanks, Matt! I had fun, hope you did too.

GM MattMorris |

I had a ball, as usual!
Session reported, and HERE are the chronicle sheets. Let me know if there are any problems with them.
