Witch's Winter Holiday

As Fendel races over the rooftops, several things happen in quick succession:

First, the archer glances at Fendel briefly, brow furrowed, then nods slightly. He releases his arrow, which flies silently through the air and strikes the prince squarely in the chest. As Zinlo falls behind the balcony, Fendel's keen eyes notice that the arrow's fletching is a mix of yellow, black, and maroon feathers. The archer turns back to Fendel and launches another arrow at him...

...but everyone sees him inching to the south on the rooftop, even though his form seems to warp and weave as if a desert mirage.

Fendel feels something foul in his blood from the arrow...

Fendel Fortitude (vs Poison): 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 2 = 18

...and he can't shake it off!

Second, a voice even stronger than Fendel's calls out above the stunned silence, "Death to Aspenthar! Long live Pashow!"

Third, a man in the crowd screams as a hooded woman stabs her neighbor. As he falls, she tries to blend back into the crowd...

GM Screen:

...and only Fendel can see her crouching near the fountain.

So, we have more crowds! Yay! Remember that you can try to direct a single crowd (please indicate which one) using either Diplomacy as a full-round action or Intimidate as a free action. No, you cannot use Intimidate to direct multiple crowds in a single round. These crowds are larger than the ones at the ruins and might be more difficult to manage.

Thoriel, Shardra:
Remember your mission! Keep the people of Aspenthar safe, and demonstrate your leadership while doing so!

Again, because we are in the city and nobody mentioned having their weapons out, remember that you will need to draw your weapon before using it.

Fendel tries to resist the effects of the poison...

Fendel Fortitude (vs Poison): 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 2 = 23
Strength damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

...but feels it sapping his strength! (Would that affect your ability to use your Composite Longbow, or not until you've taken 2 points of Strength damage (since it's based on your Strength modifier)?)

Botting Seelah

"Please, for your own safety, move this way!" Seelah implores the people closest to her.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

Her words seem to strike a chord with the people, and they begin shuffling to the west. Thoriel has a tougher crowd, what with all the screaming about the prince being dead, and the people near her continue to mill around in a blind panic.

Taman doesn't have any success either, but the disembodied voice of Glasha somehow carries enough menace to prompt a group of people to flee the fountain, screaming and pushing against each other in fright.

Glasha, that was 90 ft of movement from your previous position to your current one. Depending on how high you wished to be, you might not have had enough movement to get there - please report your altitude so we can determine your flight path and current location, over.

Glasha will be just above the crowd. So I guess tactically 5’ off the ground.

Glasha stares at the hooded foe who just struck at a citizen then takes out her wand of divine favor as she flies directly above her and uses the wand (Spending more movement than actually needed so as not to need a fly check to hover; free action to drop the wand—will recover later). Witch's Winter Holiday

Glasha's command only results in screams of "Divs! They're all around us!" as the crowd beneath her huddles down in fear. Their screams drown out Shardra's voice, but Seelah knows the battlefield and her voice rings through the cacophony like a bell!

A sudden buzzing fills the air as thousands of wasps erupt from nowhere, filling parts of the plaza with masses of angry insects that sting and bite indiscriminately.

It's a bunch of wasp swarms - immune to weapon damage and mind-affecting effects, distracting to those caught inside, and capable of delivering poisonous stings.

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 24 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 24 + (1) + 2 = 45

Fendel recognizes the blue-skinned creature as a pairaka div, a creature of lustful dreams and unbridled desire. They have several spell-like abilities, such as charming almost any creature and summon plagues of insects, but they themselves are resistant to spells and outright immune to fire damage. They also resist weapon damage that doesn't come from a cold iron or good-aligned weapon, and their touch can spread disease.

Thoriel:
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Thoriel recognizes the female creature as a pairaka div, a creature of lustful dreams and unbridled desire. She remembers that it has a remarkable ability to ignore damage that doesn't come from cold iron or good-aligned weapons.

Here is what I would like to do. After leaping across the gap, I would like to steal the archer's quiver and toss it upside-down to the ground below so that it empties all over the street. I am not certain if I would have to unhook/unbuckle it {Disable Device} or 'disarm' him {CMB} (I thought it would be too large for Sleight of hand, but tacked in on anyway). Also, I have not been able to find an official ruling as to whether or not stealing an item constitutes an attack, thereby breaking invisibility. Of course, if it is a true 'disarm', then I would understand if you rule it as an attack.

The long and short of it is that I'm pretty certain I cannot outfight this guy, and that he can kill me LOOOONG before I can kill him. So, I have to out think him. An archer without arrows is not very effective. It was either this or use my bowstring as a garrote. Fingers crossed.

Witch's Winter Holiday

The hooded woman stumbles from the force of Glasha's surprising blow, but continues moving and becomes lost in the crowd to everyone except Fendel.

Shardra, which crowd are you trying to direct and where are you trying to send them?

Seelah's calm words seem to be effective with some of the civilians, but her harsh words are quickly lost in the screams of people dying and the buzz of the wasps. Glasha's yelling seems more effective at motivating the crowd underneath her to move.

Glasha, I'm not certain if you can take the free action to intimidate the hooded lady on an AoO. Speaking is called out in the rules as allowed even when not your turn, but nothing else is and I'm inclined to say you can't take that action at that time.

After whacking the hooded lady, Glasha zooms around and up to whack the div hovering over the fountain. Her blow connects, but it seems less effective than it should have been. Outraged, the div rises up to stare Glasha in the eye - hampered somewhat by the fact that she can't seem to tell which set of eyes to look at - before clawing at the half-orc with sharp nails...

Fendel, which swarm did you toss your bomb into?

Taman, remember that you can't see the archer this round (as I understand the Stealth rules). You can make an active Perception check as a move action if you want, but because of the abstraction needed to break down simultaneous actions into turn-based combat, you can't see the archer this round even though he has no cover in the middle of your movement. Next round though, he'll have to find cover from you to make another Stealth check. You can keep the attack rolls though.

Also, remember that your green friend just knocked your blue friend unconscious and she's probably drowning in the fountain.

The way how I see the whole situation.

In the moment when blue friend is knocked out, Taman was turned in opposite direction, so there is no way that he will react to that because he didn't see that.

Regardless of the rules I think it makes no sense that Taman flies over an enemy who is completely visible and he does not see him. That's a complete nonsense. But you are GM, you will decide whether or not you will adjust rules to the situation.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Thanks Fendel! Can you put a circle or something on the square you targeted? It looks likely that you'd catch another swarm with some splash damage.

Taman, I agree that it's very odd. But unless I can find something in a rulebook or FAQ to help clarify, that's what we're going with. Again, it's the weirdness of changing simultaneous actions into turn-based combat. That being said, if you are hoving over the rooftop at the end of your turn then the archer will need to find cover if he wants to remain hidden - and there's not a whole lot of it with Taman above the rooftops.

Also, since there is no facing in Pathfinder, you certainly would have seen Glasha knock out your new friend. I'm not letting you get out of a charm that easily. ;-)

Concentration : 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

Shardra is truly annoyed that she lost the spell.

She feels the poison and wants to stop any further effects.

She casts mirror image and suddenly 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 copies of her appear.

Taman tries to pull his friend out of the water.

STR: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

He put a lifeless body on the ground near the fountain. Then he checks if his friend is alive.

Why haven't the local authorities reacted yet? Certainly so brazen an attack would elicit a response.

The detective tosses another bomb, this time at the one nearest the crowd to the south east.

Bomb vs SWARM (Touch AC) {PBS}: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 211d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 1 = 14

Rounds to 21 points. I may have made an error in the last post on splash damage. If PBS applies to all bomb damage, splash is 10 points, not 9 (for 15 instead of 13 points).

Fendel, I think Point-blank shot only applies to the direct target and not the splash damage. If you can find something that says otherwise, please let me know - my alchemist will be most pleased!

As multiple Shardra appear and Taman pulls the div out of the fountain, Fendel tosses another bomb and sends two of the swarms scattering. Taman, however, feels a sudden shiver as he clasps his friend's blue skin.

Taman, I'll need a fortitude save in your next post.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Hah! Yep, Taman's fine.

Question though: Is Taman currently raging?
