Witch's Winter Holiday

Fendel's words have less impact than his arrows - two sink deep while the third misses - as the crowd continues to mill about in confusion and panic.

Shardra, remember that you have to be within 30 ft to use your hexes. In addition, the Will save is only to determine duration (1 round vs 8 rounds). Also, I just realized the Shaman version of "Cackle" is "Chant". Whatever floats your boat - either works for me. I'm assuming you moved to be within range and thus didn't have the chance to cackle/chant this round.

The div tries to resist Shardra's influence...

Will, Hypnotic Stare vs DC 18: 1d20 + 11 - 3 ⇒ (2) + 11 - 3 = 10

...but her evil eye is too distracting!

Thoriel, I'm not seeing anything that would let you ignore dimension door's "not take any actions until your next turn" clause (like the Dimensional Agility feat). Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like those attacks will have to wait until next round. If you wanted to cast a spell before teleporting, I would be fine with retconning that.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Taman, remember that you are not hasted. I will say that the pillars are not quite large enough to keep you from charging - but that will affect your AC for the div's AoO.

As the barbarian rushes in, the div takes the opportunity to stab at him with its spear...

Spear vs AC 17: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27
Piercing damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 4) + 10 = 15 (Remember to take your DR off that when you update your stat bar)

...and pokes him! The barbarian feels the filth coating the spear in his bloodstream...

Taman Fortitude: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

...but he cannot shake off the effects either!

Taman, please include a Fortitude save in your next post to resist the effects of the poison.

Taman's mighty swing strikes the div, but it does not seem to hit a vital spot (even with Shardra's Evil Eye) and some evil force deflects some of his damage. (Forgot to add Glasha's Painful Stare earlier, so I'll add it now.)

"Pathfinders? An attack on Aspenthar? Perhaps whoever is responsible summoned the div to disrupt the festivities," Lyheri muses as the party walks. "But to frame Pashow? What could anyone gain from that?"

Upon arriving at a modest temple decorated with motifs of the Dawnflower, Lyheri bids the party wait a moment as she goes inside. She returns shortly with a staff. "This holy staff once belonged to Ah-Misehp," she says reverently. "Please, use its power to help thwart any other evils at large in Aspenthar. All I ask is that you return it when your work here is finished."

The staff has 5 charges remaining.

Lyheri bids the Pathfinders to "go with the blessings of the Dawnflower" to their final destination, the Prince's speech. On their way there, the party is stopped by a group of guards. "Packs on the ground," one of them orders. "Hands where we can see them." As his companions ready to dig through the party's belongings, he continues, "Search them for any contraband. They look suspicious."

"Dear guards, thank you very much for your service to this city. We are only trying to get to the Prince's speech. Surely, you can see that we are harmless and that we mean no harm. Please be assured that the well-being of the citizens of this city are of great importance to us! We thank you for your trust." the dwarven woman says with a smile.

"Officers, if I may? Given your posture, body language and inability to make direct eye-contact, it is clear that something is amiss. You seem to be somewhat uncomfortable with your current task. Perhaps there is some duress being applied to this situation. Please, if you can tell up what is happening, we will do our best to rectify whatever is going on. We pride ourselves on finding solutions."

Witch's Winter Holiday

At Fendel's observations, the guards shuffle around, suddenly unwilling to look the Pathfinders in the eye. The talkative one finally speaks. "Well, we were given strict orders to look for Pathfinders. We were told to follow them, that they were threats to the festival, and to arrest them under false charges if necessary. And, well, that don't sit well with me or my boys. Pathfinder Society's done good in Thuvia, but orders are orders - especially when they come from Prince Zinlo himself." He hangs his head in shame.

Glasha just grins, looks at everyone, and shrugs. ”Did I say we were Pathfinders? Oh yeah, I did.”

Addressing the talkative guard, Glasha says, ”Orders are indeed orders, especially from the Prince himself. but what if you and your boys never actually found the Pathfinders? Sounds like the Prince might not actually have the city’s—and maybe even the Sun Orchid Elixir’s—best interest in mind at the moment, hm? We were sent here because there’s credible evidence that a plot is underway to once again meddle with the Sun Orchid Elixir’s auction. Maybe you and your boys looked really hard for the Pathfinders, but no adventurous-types wearing wayfinders have been seen in the city?” Glasha doesn’t carry a wayfinder herself. Witch's Winter Holiday

Ashamed, the guards let the party pass unhindered.

Following the throngs of people, the Pathfinders soon find themselves outside a smaller palace. The crowd gathers around a large fountain with a statue of a man in regal robes pouring endless water out of a horn, waiting to hear the prince's speech.

Please position yourself on the map where you would like to be and include in your post how you would get there. The palace (large building on north side of map) is off-limits to visitors, and the surrounding buildings are 30 ft high. List your actions on a round-by round basis in case something interrupts you.

The crowd murmers - people seem excited to see Prince Zinlo speak. Taman sees two men in the crowd eyeing him appreciatively, and Fendel notices that while the entrance to the palace is shut tightly, banners and drapes on the balcony mark it as a likely place for the speech to take place.

Go ahead and give me three more rounds-worth of actions if you want.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Fendel, you certainly could. I've placed your icon in the corner of the rooftop, but you've got some movement left if you wanted a different position.

Moving on - Seelah, you have the opportunity to perform 1 round's worth of actions if you wish in your next post.

Also, everyone please make sure your stat bar is up to date!

As Fendel moves to a nearby rooftop, Taman studies the two men studying him. The taller of the two winks at him while the shorter turns bright red and refuses to look Taman in the eye. The crowd is intrigued by the spells being cast, but nobody seems to pay much attention to the Pathfinders other than shrinking away slightly.

Before Shardra and Thoriel cast their third spell (each), a trumpet pierces the air, and the crowd's attention shifts to the palace balcony. The great glass doors open, and a lean, handsome man clad in noble's regalia strides to the railing. From the cheers of the crowd, this must be Prince Zinlo himself.

To clarify, not enough time to have cast mirror image or bless.

After a moment, the prince raises a hand and the crowd immediately becomes silent. "Aspenthar," he begins, but he is drowned out by more cheers from the assembled people. He lets this continue for a few seconds, then raises his hand again to silence the crowd. "Aspenthar," he continues...
