The only one of BobE's skeletons to attack misses. Turngut's head rings from the strike he just took and he misses both of his attacks. Poppo darts toward the front while Nalia nearly gets a critical hit on the foe.

GM Roles:

Jespar Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

But combined with Nalia's strike and more magic missiles the final knight is taken down. We are out of combat.

I knew I shouldn't have left that temple! the mage with the green robe shouts looking down at the bodies of the deceased knights. Well thanks I guess. Constantine Firespark shouts toward all of you. You can tell based on his appearance and his consistent "What?" in conversation that he is hard of hearing. Jim? he loudly says toward Jespar who doesn't respond initially Jim!

Jespar notices Constantine is talking to him and responds in a shouting voice Mysir Firespark, my name is Jespar! Jespar!

You don't have to shout! Firespark replies.

About a minute after you guys are out of combat several guards enter the tavern. Some of them appear to be pretty standard city guards while one is armored in fine plate armor Is everyone alright? the Keeper of the Holy Order questions. What on Vyn happened here?

What a morning!! As you can see we've just jumped out of bed and grabbed our arms when we heard this ruckus down here. Nalia pulls her robes around her tighter (Never occurred to me to wonder what she would be wearing; could have streaked down naked with shield and sword....we'll say she threw on some robes) and then speaks to the leader, My name is Nalia Malphason, my friends and I have sought lodging at this fine inn after coming from the tournament in Tallfield. Turning to Jespar she says, Jespar, who is this mage and where did that last creature go, the one Poppo said ran away?!?

Turngut rubs his head stupidly after the last enemy goes down. When the city guard rushes in, he immediately readies hie defense, but slumps into a chair after realizing they are not threatening. Wearing only a loincloth, magic medallion and magic boots, the hungover orc is something to see!

Turngut is down 15hp. I list my hp in the spoiler during combat, would it be easier to list it outside of that for the healers? I'm assuming the invisible assassin is un-catchable?

I see! the keeper says looking around at the dead bodies before turning to Merrick, report this to Signet Master Bartarr and Captain Rubyfist at once. A terrified barkeep peers from behind the counter setting down a freshly spit cleaned glass. Sir, I'm afraid you will have to shut down your establishment while the city watch and Holy Order investigate this attack. The dark haired bartender nods his head and glances around at all the corpses.

Glad you guys were here when those guys all teleported in, not sure we would have been able to handle them just us. Jespar responds The strange elf disappeared I haven't a clue where he went. But allow me to introduce Constantine Firespark, leader of the Nehrimese Mages and master in the ways of evocation. He's the man who hired me to go to the Sun Coast.

The old mage played obviously by Sir Ian McKellen walks forward taking a good look at each of. A nod of respect to the equally old BobE, a bit of sneer to Poppo, and a stern look to Nalia. When he looks at Turngut he chuckles An orc! he says looking at Jespar Oh Peghast is going to like you, always had a weird thing for tusks! Anyway good job on helping Jasper on the Sun Coast he tosses a bag of two thousand gold pieces to BobE. Now from what I hear and have now also seen you are all very capable in battle. How would you like another job?

Poppo was used to sneers, but had grown comfortable from the acceptance of his friends. They had gone through so much together in a short time and it had bonded them together. So for some reason the old mage's sneer, caught him off guard for a moment. But when the large bags of coins went BobEs way, his mouth dropped open.

I can't wait to count all that! His eager mind was already constructing well measure stacks of golden bliss in neat little stacks!

Then snapping back to reality, Yeah, what was that about, were they trying to kill you Master Firespark?

Thankfully for the old man, Turngut misses the sneer at Poppo's expense. At Firespark's exclamation regarding orcs, Turngut looks puzzled and glances at his friends to see what he should do. Uhh. Uhhh, Turngut not know Peggy-hast. Touching one of his tusks with a finger, Turngut want to keep tusks...
When the old mage mentions their battle prowess and offers another job, Turngut puffs up proudly, quickly forgetting the tusk issue, and pronounces: Turngut good at fighting. Turngut ready for new job with new friends.

Looking over to Poppo: Hey. Hey!! Hoppo, Hoooppoooo... Waving a hand in front of the blissfully distracted halfling.

Nehrimese loyalists Constantine says Ever since my guild left Nehrim to aid the Holy Order they've been after me. I recognize the mage, former student of mine Eliana. Back when I was teaching her the wonders of sorcery she befriended one Taranor Coarek who corrupted her to his will. Ten years and one bloody revolution later and Tarnor Coarek sits on the throne of Nehrim with Eliana at his side. Constantine pauses for a moment clearly saddened at the corruption of his former pupil So will you take the job or not? I should get back to the Sun Temple soon in case another one of these attacks occurs. The magical energies that surround the Sun Temple make it impossible for teleportation into the citadel.

That was Eliana, the one who slipped out at the end? She's the co-leader of Nehrim? We escaped Nehrim, what guys, a month ago, and out ship later crashed here, where we met Turngut. Why would the leader of another land be all the way over here? She hates you enough to chase you across the ocean?

Trying to keep up with the events, she pulls her robes a little more closed and sits in a chair to collect her thoughts.

Now, it always seems wise to be clear on the specifics of a job before accepting it, she says smiling at Turngut, What exactly are you hiring us to do?

No! Eliana was the one teleported all the foes here before disappearing back through the portal. The Nehrimese Mages have always had an important role to play in the court of the true king of Nehrim. When Coarek had the rightful King Henselt assassinated he declared himself the rightful king despite not being selected by the King Seeker. He ordered the Nehrimese Mages to join his side, but me as well as the rest of the mages refused. Coarek saw this as an insult, and Coarek takes insults very seriously. Seriously enough that he would teleport assassins here when I was vulnerable. And I wouldn't say she is co-leader she has more taken the role that I had with Henselt as head mage of Nehrim.

You can give me a knowledge nobility DC:15 to know more about the politics and such of Nehrim.

Now on to the job at hand! Recently me and my mages have been researching the ancient civilization of the Pyreans. A civilization that in a flash disappeared leaving behind only artifacts and ruins. I need you to go to one of these ruins, and assist them in the excavation. They've been having trouble with various traps and creatures within the ruin. The ruin itself is called Rashengrad, about two days journey on foot in the Heartland of Ark. The aforementioned Peghast is heading the excavation. Go there and assist her in anyway she needs assisted.

I'm fine with the job as we could certainly use more chance for experience and equipment. Just not sure where this task falls in amongst the others (red haze thing, sword finding, Bobe's side trip, etc.)

Before he leaves Nalia tries to pull him aside and ask about her sword. Master Firespark, it may sound crazy but this sword of Malphas has come into my hands and I've been told I need to seek out two more like it. I had thought to go to the Sun Temple to ask them about it but with you here, maybe you can save me a trip. Or if you know nothing about it maybe you could make introductions for my friends and I with those that might? I'm afraid we've already met Signet Master Bartarr back in Talfield where my friend Turngut won the tourney. I wasn't as polite as I should have been with him and don't see him being of much help to us if I asked for it.

Hair of the dog. He has an ale poured for he and Turngut and brings it over to the orc.

He takes a drink and asks the mage. What's this job pay? I'm not so worried about the traps, but what sort of creatures are they encountering?

I'm afraid the excavation already started a few days ago. They didnt until yesterday actually get into the ruin and that's when the problems started happening I suggest you go there as soon as possible. The job pays one thousand two hundred and fifty gold. They are encountering many of the relics of the Pyreans, mechanical spiders and other such constructs.

I recond that sounds alright. Problem is we have some equipment being made. It would be downright rude to skip town without picking them up. We do have a few things we were wanting to do in town also. I was looking for a guy to tell me about some legends on other deities, a dove and a crow to be specific. Do you have suggestions to help us speed along?

I'm afraid sweet summer child I know nothing of the swords of Malphas I've only heard their legend. Those within the Sun Temple and Father Winthrop in the temple district would know more. I'm nothing more than a godless sorcerer.

I suggest you head out as soon as possible. As for the other deities well that's interesting... I know very little but more than most. Interesting of you to bring up both the gods of undead. Carsis the crow a god who enslaves undead and Elnil the dove who sets those undead free in his own way. I'm afraid that's all I know, I don't know that man you refer too but I would proceed with caution those who worship the planar deities can be dangerous.

I agree that we can leave and come back for Frostfang. Anything else that the PCs would know about fighting constructs or other Pyrean relics? I don't want to meta-game, but if Msr Firespark or one of the PCs knows of some vulnerabilities, I'd like to pick some equipment up. I don't think we have enough for adamantine, but maybe some other vulnerabilities (eg electricity, acid, etc.). Then we could pick up some alchemical assistance.

So BobE would know a little bit about constructs. The first thing is that they are very rare pretty much everywhere apart from Enderal because the Pyreans were souly in Enderal. BobE would know adamantine a very rare metal can bypass their damage resistance but also things like electricity and acid can damage them. Due to their rarity BobE doesnt really know the types of constructs that may be there.

Probably not. According to our accountant's spreadsheet, the party is currently cash-poor with only 124gp. We have some nice gear (all in use), but short on cash. Probably best to just go for the job and try not to die. Ha!

acid flask should be 10g and we may want to pick up bone burn if we can find some (25 g). Anyone have the throw anything feat?

I don't think you need the throw anything feat to use thrown weapons [/ooc]

You would know that the masterwork silver estoc, masterwork silver heavy mace, masterwork silver cestus, and masterwork cold iron cestus will be ready tomorrow. I'd say you'd pretty easily be able to find those alchemical weapons just let me know how many you are buying and mark the gold off.

Compared to the Dancing Nomad the Crowned Toad is horrible looking and smelling establishment. A simple wooden shack with nothing more than a straw covered dirt floor. The patrons of the tavern appear to be more working class individuals. The dwarf behind the bar is scarred from head to toe and is never to far from the great club propped behind the bar. You also see a peculiar looking fellow, completely shaved bald with no facial hair. A bandage wraps his right arm though you aren't sure if the man is actually injured.

Turngut on big boat...but boat crashed and now Turngut has new friends, so Turngut happy boat crashed.
After the words gush from his mouth, he pauses to smile a big tusky grin at the bald man and also at his own friends. Oh! And Turngut learn about Mal-FASS and about CrowMan. Uhhh, Peer's Son was dead, but Woman made him living again. Woman say Mal-FASS do it. And now Wrinklebutt has a scary girl. But she isn't that scary any more. He again pauses to catch a breath and looks around at his friends for approval.
