Yes xD, I work in IT so all of my coworkers are also nerdy and into DnD style games. I bring this up in conversation frequently and linked a lot of them parts of the book... They're becoming increasingly interested... At least one is wanting to join the current game (since the other guy I asked went dark on me) and one or too are looking over things and wanting to join a game later one more then likely. ;D
Tesswyn |
Okay, the discussion thread for the new game is here. You can also dot in on the gameplay thread.
Charlemange |
Well seeing as I haven't yet managed to successfully petition in joining a new game the last few months I'll probably end up trying to join you all again. But this weekend's gotten a bit busier than I was intending it to be so I might not be able to post again until Sunday or Monday.
Tesswyn |
No problem, Charles. We would love to have you!
Tesswyn |
Charles and Drot: you might want to buy some armor before we leave town. Your Defense sucks. :D
Charlemange |
Yeah, I put it off for a long time but there's only so far luck and magical healing can take us. I'm officially a Paladin now, it's time to look more like the part. We'll have to figure out some sort of payment idea as I only have 10 silver coins stowed away.
Still kicking myself about not grabbing any of that gold from the forge. Perhaps as something one of our side characters could have done. Oh well.
Tesswyn |
Charles, we're getting ready to start my game soon. I have a question for you there in the discussion thread if you haven't seen it already. :)
Tesswyn |
In the other game's discussion, I realized I forgot to add +1 to a stat at character creation, so I've boosted my Agility to 14. That means that hard leather armor will give me a better Defense than the current dwarf-crafted brigandine I'm wearing. If one of you wants that armor, you're welcome to it after this fight.
*cough* Drot *cough*
Tesswyn |
That should be mail, not brigantine. And I don't have enough money for hard leather yet, but I could get soft leather as a stopgap for now.
Charlemange |
Where it says class/levels is where you'll be posting your most basic information. Just use any of our characters as a template.
Also, I don't know if you want to do this but your posts are a bit harder to read when you use the same text. If you format it so that you use bold words when speaking it's much easier to pick out what your character is saying from what he's thinking.
The text format spoiler at the bottom of the box gives a good list of ways to help make things look different.

Had a long day after only getting half a day of sleep. Will post tomorrow.
Tesswyn |
I'll let Balrog react to the spoiler before we move on. Tess wants to check out the silo next before the tower.
Charlemange |
Sorry for slow responses in game. I've been unusually drained this weekend in my responses and feeling like I don't have much time to do anything right now. I'll try to get back into this after I sleep tonight.
Tesswyn |
I can see the case for a Druid not recognizing monstrously mutated plants like these, but either way, glad we survived. :)
Charlemange |
Hmm, okay. Now that we might get this new information, Charles would change his mind and actually want to press forward.
After looking carefully over my sheet, I see now I've still got 8 spells left total (I thought I was down to 4) and any spell I still have can turn into a remove disease or even a low powered heal.
Knowing that some of this doesn't start doing anything for a day means we could press forward. If we go armed with fire and are careful, we might be able to continue and maybe save anyone who hasn't completely been subsumed. If we delay though, we certainly survive to come back refreshed, but we likely consign everyone else to die.
Even if I cure Flamebeard and Drot'ook, that still leaves 6 spells.
I'm not sure Charles would want that for anyone else based on what we've seen so far. So I suppose we have a decision to make. Press forward, knowing how dangerous but also somewhat limited these things are, or retreat with those we've saved already to come back and likely deal with the rest of this place.
Tesswyn |
I am okay with pressing forward then. To the silo if everybody is on board.
Charlemange |
In the case of who's the most wounded, it would have definitely been Drot'ook and Flamebeard. So all of the current round of healing should go to you two.
Onward and to the silo next!
Tesswyn |
Yep, Tess is only down 4 HP.
Charlemange |
The map appears as blank to me right now.
Tesswyn |
Charles, you might also want to use prayer to toss Drot an extra boon on his attack. 15 might not be enough to hit, but it may be close.
Charlemange |
Good call Tess! Yes, Charles will use his prayer to add a boon to Drot'ook.
Charlemange |
Hmm, I'm honestly confused. Nothing in my Faith healing ability states I can't heal him. I should be able to remove disease and poisoned afflictions from any living creature. As well as heal 1/2 normal healing rate.
There are only a few things I can think of. First is that Drot'ook is cursed in some fashion to not heal, because I was able to remove the seed from myself earlier. Second is that he is not actually a living creature and some construct or weird sort of undead but we just never noticed. Third, I'm somehow not actually touching him but only seem to be.
Tesswyn |
The faith healing doesn't work on creatures with Corruption, Charles. And you have to cure the disease before other healing will work.
Charlemange |
Ah, I'd missed that somewhere along the way. Also I had attempted to remove disease with faith healing earlier but it had failed.
Charles had just thought Drot'ook was complaining about it not being healing at the time and hadn't taken it too seriously because of his form of sarcasm that pops up occasionally. In short, he's still very new to all of this. Now he'll understand more readily.
I can still get rid of it but it will have to be with one of the actual Cure spells I'll get back with rest tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get to do so.
Charlemange |
Right, time to get tactical. Charles is tired of getting beaten up in close range quarters.
Combat equipment wish list:
Bow + arrows for distance combat.
Glaive or Halberd for reach combat.
Scale armor, if they've got it.
Large shield for extra defense.
Other equipment:
Backpack
bedroll
rope x20 yards
Grapnel
Fresh clothes x3, belt and work gloves.
New tinderbox
A lantern & oil flasks x3, if not then Torches x5
A deck of playing cards and some dice. (which I'll trade for/buy.)
Charlemange |
Hmm, that's a little bit trickier than I thought. Everything I've got that isn't part of my usual attire is already something that a soldier ought to have. Unless he's willing to trade for some soft leather armor that's a bit torn.
Tesswyn |
Oh yeah, I wanted some new clothes, too.
Charlemange |
So something I just read this from the book and noticed, that every level we first get a new path: novice (1st), Expert (3rd), and Master (7th), we're supposed to roll again on the Interesting Thing Tables.
Should we roll them GM?
Also, with the success of the trade deal with the farmers and the bounty collected from the Wargs, I do believe our share of the wealth should be 2 gold crowns, 6 silver shillings, 2 copper pennies and 5 bits each.
Coincidentally, I will be buying up my lifestyle from Getting by to Comfortable.
Intellect w/bane: 1d20 - 1d6 ⇒ (18) - (3) = 15 Success!
CP: 1d6 ⇒ 3
bookrat |
Interesting Thing: Sure! Everyone roll for one new interesting thing. We'll do this again next level to make up for the missed opportunity back at Novice.
You're also supposed to lose all non-magical equipment whenever you gain an expert or master path, to represent wear and tear.
Charlemange |
Table: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Interesting thing: 1d20 ⇒ 6 A flower that never withers. Neat. I'm getting a Beauty and the Beast enchanted red rose vibe from this, especially after what we just went through.
Charles would be extremely wary of this at first but if Flamebeard told him it was safe then he'd believe it.
Tesswyn |
Interesting Thing: 1d6 ⇒ 31d20 ⇒ 14
A music box that plays a sad, sad song when opened.
How appropriate.
Drot'ook |
Level Up! (4)
+6 Hp
Rising Fury: When you take damage, you make your next
attack roll before the end of the next round with 1 boon.
I am so good at being an Orc now, y'all don't even know, I'm like an expert!
Tesswyn |
The racial abilities are generally very good. Better than most spells IMO.
Charlemange |
I'm honestly quite torn about it. The human's ability to reroll 1's on boon rolls can be pretty great. But another spell feels like it would be pretty solid too, particularly given my added versatility with spells.
bookrat |
It seems as if I didn't specify where you guys would be living for the six months the that passed.
Drot had placed himself at the Keep with the soldiers. Based on Barlog's downtime rolls, he will likely have stayed with the farming village. You may choose where your character has stayed.
