"Probably because we are invading their space in order to stop the damage they are causing." Pooka answers Enora's rhetorical question. "To be fair, we kind of ambushed them, even if they were quick to react. They are undead though, and the only good undead is a re-dead undead." Pooka chuckles to himself before pulling his wand to make sure that his ribs are all in one piece.

"Good girl Luna." Pooka shifts his attention to his mount, scratching behind her ears and pulling a jerky treat from his pouch and giving it to her.

"Enora, your haste spells have been fantastic. Kiboko and Mvumbu have been nothing short of spectacular. I am honored to explore with all of you. Severin? Your scouting is amazing. Shall we?" Pooka passes compliments around, trying not to leave anyone out.

Seriously though, nice work everyone. We've carved this up so far. Now just need to try not to let it go to our heads before the BBEG... ha!

I'm happy to use my own wand - but will take channels or other 'free' healing any time it's available. Don't burn your own wand charges though, unless it's an emergency!

i was using my wand, but I'll take the potion off no one cares. I usually roll my own clw wand charges and just assume someone else cast it for me. Saves time. :)

Severin barely rounded the corner when she spots a dessicated walking corpse standing at the end of the short stairways down to the next chamber. From its stance, it had clearly heard the previous battle and is standing guard. Thankfully, the eidolon manages to retreat quickly enough before she is spotted. She felt a strange mind-numbing effect wash over when she laid eyes on the creature, but resisted it before retreating.

She reports to Nicolas what she saw. Other than the creature, there might be others but she did not get a good look before retreating. The chamber has ceiling that stretches 30ft high. Just ahead, there is another adjoining chamber of similar height but she did not get a good look.

Again, you have time to prep/buff/etc, but there would be no surprise round as the enemies are ready. Once everyone has done their buffs, I'll initiate combat.

Kiboko activates his ioun stone again, casting Shield. He also activates his wand of Heightened Awareness and will burn the spell for +4 initiative.

He sends Mvumbu up the wall, making more room for Pooka and Luna, and he readies his greatsword.

Kiboko looks to Ingrge: "Sounds like a mummy. Steel yourselves against the fear! If you have remedies against such dangers, use them now!"

Ingrge and Kiboko just came from an adventure fighting mummies :)

"Nicolas, could you cast this spell on me from this scroll please?" Pooka asks, handing him a scroll of bull's strength.

"Kiboko is wise. Your remedy is your courage. It is within all of us. Take heart, these enemies cannot withstand our onslaught."

Takes 3 standard actions to accomplish, so I am sure we could time it better with Enora's haste to not waste rounds - But I can activate all 3 of my danger wards. Everyone gets a free reroll once on each of the saves if you fail, and the reroll is with a +4 bonus. Text in a spoiler below.

Danger Ward:
Danger Ward (Ex): At 2nd level, the cavalier can ready his allies for impending danger. As a standard action, he can ready all allies within 30 feet of the danger ahead, granting a bonus on a single type of saving throw (Fortitude, Reflex or Will) that he chooses when he grants this boon. At any point in the next minute, when these allies fail a saving throw of that type, they can choose to reroll the saving throw with a +4 competence bonus as an immediate action, but must take the results of the reroll even if it is worse. He can use this ability up to three times per day, once for each type of saving throw.

Summary: Bull's Strength on Pooka from a scroll and a helping hand, Activate Danger Ward for all 3 types of saves. If well coordinated, would take 3 rounds.

The first Pathfinder that steps towards the uneven stone stairs manages to see into the entire chamber and realises that there is not one but two of these walking dead!

While Enora starts casting a spell, Ingrgre moves past the junction, catching a glimpse of what he recognises as mummies. Immediately, waves of fear washes over him but his previous encounter had steeled him for it and he quickly moves away, readying to attack.

So no one can see into the chamber at this time?

The mummies do not come after the Pathfinders, however.

Right in the centre of the darkness is a horned woman, floating near the 20ft high ceiling. Dark energy crackles along her hands and dances through her sunken eyes.

"Mummies..." Pooka mutters. "Steady girl, Let's do this!"

Pooka verily stands in his stirrups, leaning hard over Luna's head. "Go!" he shouts the command, and Luna obliges. Her powerful rear legs uncoil, rocketing dog and rider forward. Pooka anticipates the wheeling turn in his charge and starts to lean into it. Luna's paws slide easily over the stone floor, holding their combined momentum as she begins to scramble forward around the corner.

Immediatly the sight of the mummies makes both of their hearts skip a beat.

OMG This is the first time I've ever gotten to use this and holy balls did that come in handy...

Fear washes over the halfling and his trusty companion, threatening to freeze him in place. The sight of the tattered wrappings combined with the stories of the damage these creatures can bring threaten to overwhelm the pair.

In the briefest of moments, a space between time really, Pooka is reminded of and reflects on Kiboko's wisdom. He grits his teeth, and the courage in his heart wins the day.

"Run this monster down!" he shouts to everyone and no one in particular, perhaps just himself.

Spirited charge, power attack, +2 cold iron lance: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (14) + 19 = 33
for Lance Triple Damage: 3d6 + 39 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) + 39 = 50

Not waiting to see how well his lance connects, Pooka guides Luna directly into the looming form of the mummy, intending to burst right through it. He feels her neck snap forward as she tries to clamp down on the monster as they pass by into the unnatural darkness.

GM - I don't want to create anything that might seem like I am manipulating rolls by having some of Luna's rolls be in her own post. My intention was to roll things in the order of operation, but. If you want me to handle it differently, please let me know.

Following the guiding of her master and best friend, Luna carries him forward, absorbing the blow of his weapon. As soon as she gets close enough, she snaps her jaws forward, trying to take a bite of mummified flesh on their way past.

As soon as the pair enters the darkness, Luna begins to sniff, trying to use her sense of smell to fill in for the lack of sight.

Cool, danger ward is a really good ability. Had been toying with creating a elfquest wolfrider (i.e. halfling cavalier)... No worries about the posting order. I do the same for my characters with animal companions.

Pooka and Luna sweeps around the corner, hesitating briefly as the unearthly fear sweeps over them, but they overcome it momentarily and charge down the stairs, running the lance through the mummy on their right. It tears a huge hole through its chest, but both mummies immediately swing their arms at Pooka who just manage to duck under. Luna reaches out and tears out another huge chunk off the injured mummy's thigh but amazingly it still stands. (DR) Before they move past, the other mummy again swings at Pooka but again, the agile halfling ducks away in time.

Trigger both their ready actions, and also provoke AoO from orange mummy but all three attacks miss!

Through the unnatural darkness, Luna detects the scent of a creature but can't quite locate it yet. (Need move action to find direction)

Forgot to mention that once you've made the mummies' aura will saves, you are immune.

Kiboko, sorry I didn't notice earlier. Mentioned in the earlier post that the ceiling is 30ft high, so Mvumbu can't reach the mummies. However, she can run down the wall and stand beside orange. I've moved her accordingly.

Kiboko rushes in, easily brushing aside the mummies' fear effect. Spinning his greatsword in the air, he brings it down, cleaving the damaged mummy in half! The lanterns then come flying in. Two of them get caught in mummies' aura and freeze. The other two continue flying in, firing beams of light at the remaining mummy, gouging out pieces of dessicated flesh.

From under Kiboko's arm, Igrgre fires a arrow which punctures right through the mummy's head, but yet it keeps moving. Mvumbu squeezes through the narrow passage, stomps down the wall beside it and rips out a chunk of its chest. Only then does it collapse onto the ground, unmoving.

Meanwhile, Traber and Enora repositions themselves, managing to resist the aura of fear thanks to the ward Pooka had laid on the team earlier.

Just then, a feminine voice rings out from within the darkness. "More adventurers! You seek to stop my work? Flee while you still have your lives!" The globe of darkness drifts further, plunging the remaining mummy, Pooka, Luna and Mvumbu into darkness. You hear the muttering of a spell and suddenly, a wave of necromantic fear washes through the chamber!

Kiboko, she is 20ft above the floor, i.e. 5th square. Large would only reach to the 4th square. Anyway, she saw you turning large so she would have kept to that height to avoid your reach. But you can reach her with the hooked lance. But that means no crit? Mvumbu similarly can't reach from the floor, but she can spiderclimb up to the ceiling (30ft) high to reach her, with flanking.

Will turn the darkness area transparent to make it easier to move your token. I'm assuming Kiboko will share her position with everyone. She has total concealment (50%) against those without darkvision.

Position on map looks fine, thanks GM. And yes, the hooked lance only threatens a crit on a 20 (but does x4 damage when it does crit). Kiboko's hooked lance is only masterwork steel. Kiboko will certainly call out her location.

Pooka reaches towards his handy haversack, willing a bag of good into the top of the pile. He marks the area that Kiboko shouted out, whispers a small prayer to Cayden Cailaen before cocking his arm back and letting the tanglefoot bag loose.

DESCRIPTION

A tanglefoot bag is a small sack filled with tar, resin, and other sticky substances. When you throw a tanglefoot bag at a creature (as a ranged touch attack with a range increment of 10 feet), the bag comes apart and goo bursts out, entangling the target and then becoming tough and resilient upon exposure to air. An entangled creature takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity and must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be glued to the floor, unable to move. Even on a successful save, it can move only at half speed. Huge or larger creatures are unaffected by a tanglefoot bag. A flying creature is not stuck to the floor, but it must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be unable to fly (assuming it uses its wings to fly) and fall to the ground. A tanglefoot bag does not function underwater.

A creature that is glued to the floor (or unable to fly) can break free by making a DC 17 Strength check or by dealing 15 points of damage to the goo with a slashing weapon. A creature trying to scrape goo off itself, or another creature assisting, does not need to make an attack roll; hitting the goo is automatic, after which the creature that hit makes a damage roll to see how much of the goo was scraped off. Once free, the creature can move (including flying) at half speed. If the entangled creature attempts to cast a spell, it must make a concentration check with a DC of 15 + the spell’s level or be unable to cast the spell. The goo becomes brittle and fragile after 2d4 rounds, cracking apart and losing its effectiveness. An application of universal solvent to a stuck creature dissolves the alchemical goo immediately.
