| Bhoors Thistledown |
Bhoors will happily assist Amelia for advantage.
Aeshuura

I see Bhoors holding the light for her, so that she can see. Does Bhoors have proficiency in Thieves' Tools?
| Amelia Zera Rose |
thieves tools: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Amelia smiles as she pulls out her tools and quickly gets to work po popping open the lock and melting into the shadows quickly after
Aeshuura

Okay, now, what order are we going? I am assuming that Bhoors is holding the window open for Amelia?
EDIT: It opens out toward you, but does not prop open, so someone will have to hold it to keep from making noise...
| Bhoors Thistledown |
Yes I do. Urchin background.
"Look here." Bhoors moves the light to give Amelia a little edge.
Once the window is open he holds the window open for the others. "Here we go."
| Marquez |
That was surely inspired lol.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Distracted by Damine’s exposed position while climbing through the window, Marquez may or may not have walked intro a barrel along the wall.
Aeshuura
|
I see Damine climbing in and kicks Bhoors by accident, causing him to drop the window and Marquez letting out a loud curse!
Damine tumbles into the warehouse, crashing into a crate and making quite the ruckus!
Damine takes in her surroundings, the darkness easily overcome by her infernal heritage, and she notes that tables and chairs have been carelessly tossed across the floor. The corpses of a dozen men lie along the walls, their rapiers and daggers lying nearby. On the north side of the area, stairs rise to an open level above.
More urgent though are the four short, avian creatures with long beaks and black feathers that look over in surprise from where they stand in the middle of the warehouse. Each wears a hooded cloak and wields a shortsword.
One squawks out in a clearly mimicked voice with a thick orcish accent, The Xanathar sends its regards!
Amelia 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Bhoors 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damine 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Marquez 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Reuleaux 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Kenku 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Initiative Order - Round 1
Marquez -> Kenku -> Amelia -> Damine / Reu -> Bhoors
Marquez can go, then bad guys!
Map is updated!
| Amelia Zera Rose |
Just one question, are those that made high stealth checks still unseen as of now?
| Bhoors Thistledown |
"Well it was fun while it lasted."
| Marquez |
Smiling at Bhoors ”Ahh, dhe fun es just beginning mi amigo.” the Ahmish man then retrieves something from a pouch on his belt, crushes it between his fingers, and recites arcane words familiar to him. With a new bounce to his step, he moves so that he is lined up with the window for a short running start. Marquez then runs for the window, leaping into a diving roll through the window rolling to his feet inside next to Damine. ”En garde” he says while pointing the tip of his rapier at the enemy.
Presuming I had my weapon already drawn
Action - casting Jump
Bonus Action - Beginning the Blade Song
Move - Position for the jump and then leaping through the window.
Aeshuura

@Amelia, it seems that they are looking in your direction. It is unclear whether they have spotted all of you at this point.
@Marquez, Ahmish... All of a sudden my picture of you grew that chin beard and you now have a wide-brimmed hat!
The kenku swarm over Marquez, one hopping up on a couple of crates to take the high ground!
Kenku (Yellow) shortword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Kenku (Red) shortword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
I believe an 18 hits despite your bladesong, correct? If so, 6 hp damage!
Marquez deftly dodges the first thrust, nearly arching into a perfect bridge, then spins, slapping the second blade wide!
Another one of the kenku tries to slip wide around everyone, passing right by Amelia, crouched behind a crate! Amelia may take an Attack of Opportunity at advantage!
The kenku (purple) further back sticks his blade into the wooden floor and draws a shortbow from his back! He draws a bead, ready to shoot at the first available target!
The last kenku runs up from the far end of the warehouse, then stops, panting with its hands on its stomach!
Everyone may go! Though I will adjudicate Amelia's Attack of Opportunity first.
| Damine Nithrissa |
Seeing Marquez get hit by the kenku's sword, Damine immediately screams out in a frustration! She mutters some arcane words as her hand glows a deep purple, pointing it at the Red kenku. She then rushes in, blade in hand, and goes to swing at him!
Longsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Hex: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Bonus: Casting Hex on Red and giving him disadvantage to Strength checks.
Move: Move 5ft
Action: Attack!
| Amelia Zera Rose |
Amelia snickers at the kenku as they run past, and takes the chance to poke one right up the arse.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
adv attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (7) + (1) + 3 = 11
depending on what happens to the guy. I'm also assuming he left my reach after/during the AoO.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 halfling luck reroll
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
if he does go down from the AoO, amelia will hide before barely poking out from cover pulling out a dagger and tossing it at the kenku who drew the bow and ducking back down behind the crate.
I'm unsure if I would still count as hidden, so, just in case I am. I took adv. and SA, if I do not count as hidden, its a 20 to hit and 7 damage on the bow kenku.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
damage: 1d4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (2) = 9
Aeshuura

Amelia strikes out at the kenku ruffian, surprising it as it scrambles out of the way, but it is not fast enough as her hurled dagger catches it in the back! The bird-man crumples to the floor!
Damine's magic throws a wave of exhaustion over the corvid humanoid, slowing it just enough that it cannot escape the young tiefling's blade!
Red and Green are dead!
As Red drops, a shot opens up for Purple, who looses an arrow at Damine! Damine has half cover from the crates! +5 AC!
Purple shortbow (readied action): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Despite the cover, this kenku threads the needle, causing Damine to whip her head back to avoid the projectile! She feels the burn of a scratch that it left along her cheek! Damine takes 6 hp off her temp hp!
Initiative Order - Round 1
Marquez -> Kenku -> Amelia -> Damine / Reu -> Bhoors
| Bhoors Thistledown |
Bhoors moves into the warehouse and into position. He makes a swipe at the tengu before Amelia. As he moves and steps there is a rythmn he sings out, "I get knocked down, but I get up again. Never gonna keep me down."
Dagger Attack Green: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Dagger Damage Green: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Healing Word Amelia: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 3 = 8
Aeshuura
|
@Bhoors, Marquez got hit, not Amelia. ^_^ Damine still has temp hp still.
EDIT: Amelia also managed to kill Green.
| Bhoors Thistledown |
How embarrassing. So that would be healing to Marquez and damage to red then.
| Reuleaux |
Squinting at the creatures "HmmmMMMmm...black feathers. Eumelanin, not very resistant to corrosion!" he snaps his fingers and a little hyperdimensional pocket zipcracks into existence near his belt. Reaching inside, he produces 2 glowing green flasks of an unreal glass containing a dark green fizzy fluid. He hurtles them forth like any gnome would...
Acid splash on adjacent targets there if possible, not sure who is alive and dead

I think I’ve wrote it out a few times previously and restructured the sentence to avoid that. This time I was going n a hurry and didn’t realize my folly lol. Ahmite maybe? Not sure what they are called in the realms.

Contributing to the Amnish, Ahmite, Amnian discussion would be more fun in character. Just saying ;)
Aeshuura
|
@Bhoors, ha ha, Damine demolished red already! Yellow, Purple, and Cyan are left. Only Yellow is in a position that you may be able to make it to melee.
@Reu, after the two kenku dropped, no enemy is adjacent to another enemy, so which target, Yellow (in Marquez' face), Purple (with shortbow), or Cyan (shortsword, too far to attack anyone yet)?
Aeshuura
|
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The Kenku standing over Marquez is showered by acid! - 3 hp! It screams a blood-curdling scream, but does not fall!
For future reference, just roll once for damage and it will go for all affected.
| Bhoors Thistledown |
Hmm. If Reu just killed yellow I guess my attack is against no one. Though with Blade Flourish I can now move 40 so it is possible I could have reached purple.
Aeshuura
|
Yellow is still alive, the screaming was not commensurate with the damage, leading you to believe that it is mimicking someone that it killed perhaps?
Bhoors swings, causing the kenku to squawk and stumble back a step on its unsteady footing! -6 hp and Marquez is healed!
Map updated and Marquez is up!
Initiative Order - Round 2
Marquez -> Kenku -> Amelia -> Damine / Reu -> Bhoors
| Marquez |
lol. Even spelled Amn wrong. I’m so awesome... heh
HP - Full (thanks!); Spell Slots: 1st - 3/4, 2nd - 1/2; Blade Song - 1/2
Marquez grimaces as the crow-creature’s blade finds a way through his defense. The grimace turns to a grin though as the magic from Bhoors’s rousing tune closes the wound as soon as it was opened. The bard then grabbing the edge of his cloak flourishes it between himself and his attacker driving his rapier behind it. Spinning to the side and flashing his cloak to hide the movement, he pulls back his rapier and stomps his foot with audible “Huah!” pause for effect after.
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for Piercing: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Aeshuura

Marquez' thrust finds its mark! The kenku crumples, and the other two turn tail and run, leaping up the stairs for the second floor!
Give chase, or secure the floor?
Initiative Order - Round 2
Marquez -> Kenku -> Amelia -> Damine / Reu -> Bhoors

Amelia pops up from behind a crate and fires at the back of one of the fleeing Kenku.
Aeshuura

Sorry, Amelia, you would have had to take an action to Hide again after killing your last target. So I will take the 1st d6 roll for damage...
Amelia rushes forward and shoots at the trailing kenku, who barely avoids getting impaled, a puff of black feathers left in its wake! Kenku (cyan) takes 7 hp!
Initiative Order - Round 2
Marquez -> Kenku -> Amelia -> Damine / Reu -> Bhoors
| Amelia Zera Rose |
no problem!
| Reuleaux |
I'm thinking that solid line on second floor is an open balcony and I can target up there. If that's not the case, I'll just investigate the 1st floor.
Reu seems pretty confused and starts looking all over, checking here and there...everywhere. Finally he slips off his boot and reaches inside pulling out yet another magical vial of acid, tossing it up at the wounded bird (cyan...
Acid Splash: 1d6 ⇒ 2 dex 13 save none
OR
Content to let them go, Reu and his mechanical bird start poking around the papers and what not strewn about.
Investigate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Aeshuura

The solid line is a balcony with a railing, so you can see your targets from the bottom floor if you move out from under the area that you are in.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 The kenku scrambles out of the splashing acid and you can hear the sizzle as it burns into the wooden floor...
Just waiting on Bhoors and Damine. Marquez will also get to act before they do. Going up the stairs is considered difficult terrain (factored in on their last moves).
| Bhoors Thistledown |
Bhoors dashes up the stairs taking to runners at a time drawing his second dagger as he moves. He takes his last few steps and leaps at the bird creature hoping to sink a pair of daggers in his foe.
I love the extra movement (are stairs difficult terrain?).
Assuming no difficult terrain and terrible ingenious stair traps that I just ran headlong into don't exist.
Dagger 1 teal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Dagger 2 teal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage 1 teal: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage 2 teal: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Aeshuura
|
Yes, they are considered difficult terrain, but you can make it easy with your 40 ft. move.
Bhoors moves like the wind, hopping up the stairs as if they were nothing! He spins like a dervish, slashing here and there! The kenku falls dead at his feet!
Just purple left and Damine and Marquez to go!
Just a reminder, if the icon on the map is red, the target is dead.
| Bhoors Thistledown |
Just a reminder, if the icon on the map is red, the target is dead.
No more rhymes I mean it.
| Damine Nithrissa |
Damine rushes after Bhoors upstairs to chase down the two remaining kenku! She then points at the remaining one, laying her Hex upon him.
Using the Dash action to get up the stairs, and bonus action to recast Hex on the survivor and giving him disadvantage on DEX checks!
Aeshuura
|
The kenku slips slightly as he runs, a small hint to Damine, that her magic took hold...
Marquez is up...
| Marquez |
Marquez turns non chalantly to Amelia and Rue after castle by a spell. Three bolts of energy fly forward weave by in and out of the banister to strike the fleeing creature. ”I believe tey will know of us at ‘tis point non?”
Magic Missile
Force: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) + 3 = 14
Aeshuura
|
The three silvery bolts zip out and catch the kenku, peppering it! The momentum causes the now-corpse to tumble across the balcony!
Combat over.
What would you like to do?
| Bhoors Thistledown |
What sort of weapons did the birdfolk use?
Bhoors looks over the corpse of the creature before him, checking pockets and so forth.
| Bhoors Thistledown |
Bhoors grabs a pair of the shortswords as he puts his daggers away. Smiling he does a few practiced swings. Its been awhile since I practiced with a pair of these but they hit a little harder I suppose.
He continues to look for pockets and such. "Check the bodies and lets find a corner to dump them in and get to searching."
Any funds? Assuming that there are no additional interruptions. Bhoors notes the crates on the yard level where there is some space behind them to dump the bodies.

As we are using Season 8 rules, it is negligible but you find a few coins on each of them. Enough for a meal or two for each of you.
As we head in to the Christmas holiday, I am going to end our first session here and give everyone 4 ACP and 4 TCP, 10 DT, and 1 renown. For the higher level crew (namely Marquez and Bhoors) I would suggest taking the slow track so that Amelia, Reu, and Damine can catch up a little.
So to sum up:
DDHC-WDH: Session 1, Finding Floon
Date: 12/21/2018
DM: DM Aesh aka Noel Mock (DCI: 6203763429)
ACP gained: 4
TCP gained: 4
DT earned: 10
Renown earned: 1
*Slow progression is 1/2 those amounts; suggested for Bhoors and Marquez.
