Marquez -> Bhoors -> Amelia / Troll -> Reuleaux -> Damine -> Yagra / Durnan

Reu reaches into his knapsack and busts out a semi-completed clockwork orangutan. Promptly, he removes the head in a violent snap and a green viscous liquid spills forth like evil honey. He catches the fluid with a magic hand and weaves its strands into a dense nugget, flinging it forth at the reckless brute...

yeah downside to Green Flame is no primary target fire damage until 5th lvl

But if you are an Eldritch Knight, you can conceivably hit two targets with melee attacks + 1d8 +caster mod. Well, almost. But you have to be 7th lvl... ;p Imagine, now, that you also have a flame tongue... ^_^ Will wait a little while for Amelia first before I adjudicate...

Reuleaux's acid splashes across the troll's leg, but it is difficult to tell if the creature is screaming from that or the flames upon its back!

Durnan shakes his head and mutters, What a Monday...

He doesn't even seem to notice that his shoulder has caught fire until Bonnie rushes up and pours a pitcher of water over him!

Nodding his thanks to the young woman, the barkeep looks at all of you, Not bad. You've got potential...

Durnan shoulders his greatsword and heads back to the bar as suddenly the din of the tavern patrons raises again to its previous levels!

Bhoors feeling impressed with things nods in appreciation to the bartender. He stowes his daggers, I really need to get a set of light swords. I trained with wooden scimitars that might be fun. It feel so fan boy. Gets the job done I suppose.

He looks over to where the Xanathar thugs were gathered previously to make sure that the other disturbance was over.

He looks down toward Amelia, "Glad to have you with us."

Finally he turns and is forced to regard Marquez, "Its been some time. I hope things in Amn are well." Bhoors speaks friendly toward the man but there is a bit of sizing the man up playing itself out in the recesses of his face.

well my stat line wasn’t accurate due to the Stirge bite previously. The troll’s attack roll was high enough as well that a shield spell just won’t do it. So the 11 hps from the troll plus the crit sting of 8 puts Marquez in an uncomfortable place lol.

As Bhoors regards Marquez, he notices the Amnish man seems confused. ”Now where did I put down mi vino?” With one hand reaching up to the wound that n his neck, Marquez turns to retrieve his wine from the nearby table and then falls face forward onto the floor.

LOL That is exactly what I was thinking. My nick name for Bhoors is Captain Jack Aladdin Solo. Touching on the major influences I try to invoke when I play him. Clearly I am the cheater. I figured you for the sophisticant though.

Durnan laughs, Boy, you got some moxie, t' be sure! Bonnie! Get them a round on the house!

You haven't even had time to delve into that fresh round of drinks before a foppish man approaches the table!

Image of fop.

The approaching figure strokes his mustache, adjusts his floppy hat, and tightens his scarf. Volothamp Geddarm, chronicler, wizard, and celebrity, at your service. I trust you’ve noted the violence in our fair city these past tendays. I haven’t seen so much blood since my last visit to Baldur’s Gate! But now I fear I have misplaced a friend amid this odious malevolence.

My friend’s name is Floon Blagmaar. He’s got more beauty than brains, and I worry he took a bad way home a couple nights ago and was kidnapped — or worse. If you agree to track him down with all due haste, I can offer you ten dragons apiece now, and I can give you each ten times that when you find Floon. May I prevail upon you in my hour of need?

Reu seems to be distilling pure alcohol from his drink using a funny looking alchemical apparatus he has improvised on the spot. At the news "Ah! A lovely new riddle. Why would someone kidnap a beautiful imbecile man? A smart one would be better company I would think!"

Marquez opens his eyes and clears his head. After a second or two of blinking, he smiles at Bhoors and quickly looks to the gods of wine he had before he pass out. Broken and wine-blood spilling everywhere, the bard frowns sadly but takes Bhoor’s offered hand and stands up. ”Well zhat thing hit harder zhan a bull. Muchas gracias por your help mi amigo.”

When he hears the name Volothamp, even Marquez can’t help but be a little star struck and there is little hesitation befor the Ahmish man agrees to help the famous bard.

Damine was looking forward to her next round (especially after cleaning her sword off of all of the stirge blood that had gotten on it) until the man had walked up. Who the heck is this guy...?

But, she listened carefully to his request and grinned. "I don't know about these guys, but I'm sure in! Sounds like it'll be a fun time out here. Plus, I need a couple more dragons anyway. Where, uh, was the last time you saw this...Floon fellow?"

Volo frowns, It was two nights previous. I left him at the Skewered Dragon tavern. You know the one? On Fillet Lane?

"Ah yes, Jenskies place. Charming stew special on Third-day. But again, why would someone take him? What kind of person is this friend of yours? Is he allied to any particular guild or faction??"

Volo shrugs, He's good looking, but I don't know why anyone would want to kidnap him, but his landlord said that he didn't come home last night. Usually, when he, um, entertains the ladies, Floon brings them there... It's just unusual. I checked again today, and he still hasn't returned home...

@Bhoors, you have never been there, but it is in the Dock Ward, so it can be a rough and tumble place. Gang activity is not out of the question.

"Marquez is a fencer and don't let the sword fool you he is studied in the magics. Damine is bold enough to assume she can handle herself in a scrape. I can do some healing if anyone gets cut up. But hopefully it won't come to that. Anyone else have any special skills that might be handy to know."

You can hang your hat on that information when its crunch time, its that reliable." he nods to himself. "Oh, theres also this...zippy dippy dooo!"

Suddenly a polished iron bird seemingly moving on its own jumps out of Reu's shirt collar, squawking a strange metallic *cacaw!! cacaw!! caacaw!* and strutting its stuff around Bhoors irritatingly. It finally trips on a small pebble and tips over on its side, but its little feet and wing movements continue like nothing happened.

Somewhat dissapointed Reu states "Meh...that one is more just a hobby."

Amelia shrugs. Suppose' ye summ'd it up 'bout right. Just ta' be clear. I won't be sticking my own neck too far out for any of ya lot. Nothin' personal ya kno'. Just gotta keep an eye out for yerself in this town. No one else really well do ya the favor o' doin' it for ya. as she talks she twirls her hat on the end of her finger before tossing it up to have it land on her head.

In a slightly more down-trodden voice she adds. Well, not anymore anyways.

At Reu's little demonstration Amelia lets out a chuckle.

Oh I don't kno'. All it needs is a bit of paint and color and ye could almost mistake it for the real thing I'd say. She says as she leans down to pick up the contraption to give it a thorough look over.

How did ye manage to make it both move an' make the sounds in such a small item? More Magic?

He waggles his finger 'NO' "Ah ah ah, guild secrets I'm afraid! Members only! Just kidding I'll tell you! There is nothing magic about it, just teamwork. It starts with the miners, just the right quality of copper, zinc, and tin need to be found. The smelters come next, the ores are refined into ingots...quite a costly operation for someone on their own, but this is Waterdeep! Next the alchemists mix these metals together in the proper proportions to make what's called an 'alloy'...much stronger than the original! Finally the master tinkers can shape these alloys into tiny gears, sprockets, and linkages. Even smaller tiny metallic bars strike a rotating barrel like the hammer of a piano on its string to create the discordant squawk! That's an old Lantanese trick! Let me guess, you're curious about how its powered..." he goes on until told to shutup.

Damine looks at Reu’s demonstration and laughs when the bird falls over, but immediately loses interest in it when he starts spewing off about the different types of things going into it. She looks over at Bhoors, instead finding interest in what he had said. ”Hehe, I can definitely handle myself in a fight! Even if I couldn’t I’d still throw myself into a fight! It’s where I feel most alive, you know?

“Anyhow, I won’t bore you all with the details but I can perform some magic as well as fight with the blade here. Not as much as our little friend here, for certain.” When saying that, she gestures at Reu.

You head off South toward the Dock Ward. Almost as if walking into a different city, the surroundings change as tall, densely packed tenements leave most of the neighborhood in shadow at ground level.

Most of the streetlamps have had their glass smashed and their candles stolen, and the smells of salt air and excrement linger as you pass by rows of run-down buildings.

As you round the corner, you find yourselves on a street that has been cordoned off by the City Watch. Lying on the cobblestones are a half-dozen corpses, seemingly the victims of some terrible skirmish. Watch officers have disarmed and arrested three blood-drenched humans and are in the midst of questioning witnesses. One of the officers sees you. Get on, she says. Nothing to see here.
