Yagra stands up, looking menacing at the ruffians surrounding her and kicks the bald man in the ribs. The bald man groans in response as his mates pull him away...

You barely have time to respond when the small brass bell at the winch over the large well. You notice Durnan move to the lever near the bar and begin reeling the half-barrel back up.

The bell keeps ringing, which is unusual, and Durnan calls out, Keep yer pants on, I'm pullin' ya up!

Wisdom (Insight) DC 12:

@Amelia, You got a few coin purses, but you know that the longer you have them, the more likely you will be found out. Normally, when you are filching, you are long gone by now... Remember to check the code legal on the Campaign Info tab too. If you get caught, you will be subject to the fines and will have to spend DT for imprisonment. So be careful... ;)

As Amelia hops up on the ledge and peeks in, she sees a large form climbing up the rope, hand over hand, emerging from the darkness... As it comes into the light, she just manages to make out the shape as a HUGE troll!

Flapping out of the darkness, about a dozen stirges burst out and flap around in a swarm!

Wisdom (Perception) DC 13:
Many of them are flapping a little slower and look bulbous, as if they are full already!

"Oh...no, no, no! That won't do!" Reu holds up his pinky to the rope and with the other hand pulls a small sphere of force from under his cloak that seems to be filled with a black, viscous, alchemical mix. The sphere loops and leaps in a crazy spiral down the hole...

Casting Grease on the rope just above the troll.

Amelia jumps off the lip as the troll clambers up. Instinctively Drawing her Rapier. But before she leaps down and readies a strike, she takes a moment to try and better understand the situation.

Perhaps, if you slip the purses back, they may think that they spent it all in their drunken stupors? Now a smart little thief would just skim a few coins off the top and return their purses, leaving them none-the-wiser...

Oh, the troll is hostile alright. But your passive perception is enough to tell that the troll is hurt. It currently has two stirges still attached...

Blast it, girl! You all know the portal leads to Undermountain! It's why you come here! Hazards of the Yawning Portal! Grab that oil lamp! Durnan yells, pointing to a nearby oil lamp hanging from the ceiling. At its height, Amelia would have to move a chair to reach.

How close to the top is the Troll if I missed it? Also I had asked earlier but did not see an answer. How thick is the rope as in can it be cut quickly?

Grand Lodge

Owlbear Rodeo

Sorry, I missed that one. The rope is pretty thick, since it holds a giant half-barrel that lowers adventurers into the Undermountain. The troll is probably about 20 feet down, and the rope directly above it is coated in grease at the moment... Thanks to Reuleaux's grease bomb... Think of one of those ship ropes, maybe 2 inches in diameter...

If an opportunity attack comes up he will strike a stirge other wise he is going to see how the Troll fares climbing with the grease. If the troll is able to keep climbing despite the grease he will let the troll get a few feet into the grease and then cast Dissonant Whispers.
