He wears a supple looking pair of black boots, billowy blue pattern pants of Chultan design. Beneath a sleeveless black tattered long coat show the woven patters of worn Chultan leather armor. A picture of Bhoors Personality:
Uncommonly relaxed Bhoors is a common descriptor for Bhoors whose carefree manner seems to rule his interactions good or ill. Charming, polite often even when scorned, seem to drive his interactions. Quick witted and dismissive of offense if he can. History:
Bhoors Thistledown was a hard working woodsman, a trapper, hunter, kindling monger, who slaved outside the Podunk village of Phandalin in the forests and fields. He was already getting up in years when he was reacquainted with an elf whom he had met years past back when he was a younger man. The two rekindled a spark that had not turned into a real fire when he ranged the north and the high forest with the beautiful elf.
The old man walked with a limp some said it was the bite from a great beast that he had fought. These folks were often waved away. "Ole Bhoors Thistledown is hard working man puts food on the table for those he cares for," they would say. "He's not one to fly off on adventures like a man with no purpose or roots." Bhoors was a good man, a hard man and a father. Even in his grey haired years he married that beautiful elf. Of course this was scandalous to the backwoods cretins of Phandalin but Bhoors waved that away, "I always said, 'if they won't tolerate an elf lass and an oldman at the shrine of Lathander then we'll flip a coin and let one of those carefree priests at the temple of Tymora say the words'." Well after they found someone to "say the words" at the temple of Tymora Bhoors and his new bride, Ilsevel Torsalor began a quiet life together. Ilsevel had a little son. Bhoors with his small town sensibilities named the lad Bhoors Thistledown the second. It should be supposed that anyone whose father's name is Bhoors will likely be called Piglet by someone. However if you are Bhoors the Younger there is twice the reason. So Piglet was the apple of his parents eyes. He learned music from his mother and well he learned many things from his father. He saw the man struggle. Day in day out to keep the family going. His father took some sort of pride from hard work. There was a beauty to it, in its sort of pastoral way. Bhoors loved his wife's singing but he did not take the same joy when his son learned and excelled at music. When the lad would go with his dad into the woods he had little respect for danger, "no fear of what might kill you," his dad would say. The young lad would smile, "Dad sister Geralee from the temple says I was born under a Lucky Star." His dad would announce humbug and explain that luck couldn't be trusted. Before little Piglet turned 7 Bhoors passed on. Piglet well "now man of the house" Bhoors learned what is likely an unintended lesson from his father. He heard the groans from back pain, the scrapes, the frustration when the trail yielded no game. Hard work at least to the boy seemed not to pay off. Ilsevel with her husband gone had little anchor to the small village and so. She uprooted with the boy and they set out. Bhoors the Younger was wide eyed and filled with wanderlust. He knew his mother loved his father intensely but the season, a short season, in the life of an elf of small town wife was over for her. They lived on the road putting roots down in the colder months in a new city only to head out in the spring. This time was fun for Bhoors he learned music, stories and enjoy the wandering life his mother was able to live by. Seeing his mother sing and play in taverns and inns and make a decent living made him wonder why his dad worked so hard. "He loved the forest," his mother would say. "He valued the struggle." Bhoors loved his dad, missed his dad but did not understand him. Bhoors remembers seeing the mighty gates of Neverwinter for the first time, bigger than Silverymoon he thought. He saw the sea the ships and his 11 year old mind whirled. There was a pulse to the city that excited the small town boy. Ilsevel had a reputation and even a draw. Not only was she able to play multiple taverns in a week without repeat but she was also called to fancy parties and it was a fairly comfortable living for she and for Bhoors. As good as it was it didn't last. Luck runs cold at times. Bhoors is still not sure what happened. His mother wasn't a push over. She knew how to handle herself, he had seen her shame men who attempted to abuse her plenty of times. Reports were that she was found in an alley. Theories included robbery or worse but that made little sense to Bhoors. After the funeral. Bhoors was brought by an innkeeper who could no longer float the boy a room without his mom performing to an orphanage. For a boy like Bhoors an orphanage was a sad thought that's where kids who loose their families go. Sure that was true but they are also at least this orphanage was also where some sick people went. The other kids were bullies, he didn't love the affectionate nickname Piglet as a young child, but to the jerks of the orphanage he was Warthog. The biggest jerk there beat him near senseless the first night, "They were right to name you Bhoors you have a face like a warthog." Somehow that changed his name to Warthog, whatever. He didn't stay long. He picked up some ideas from the other kids. How to pick pockets. How to win at dice, even if you loose. How to beg. If the kids were bad at the orphanage some of the staff were worse. Once Bhoors had a handle on begging, picking pockets and cheating. His 'friends' grew more calloused as suddenly as they had grown nice and the staff of the orphanage would make him go out and return with whatever he could. Too little he got in trouble too much he must have been holding out in the past or took too big a risk and "now the heat was gonna come down on us." After a few months he never went back. Occasionally he would see one of the kids from the orphanage and he'd have to run, hide or fight. But better the streets on his terms than the orphanage. That was life. The way of things. But hey he lived in the Big City. Opportunities. He knew how to get by usually. He was still young enough to get shooed off if he got caught. He learned how to better pick a mark and so on. Winter was tough the year he turned 14. He was sometimes looked on as a man and not treated with the same annoyed disinterest if he was caught stealing. It dawned on him he wasn't a kid. He had more run ins with the law, with people willing to beat the crap out of him. Not that he wasn't a scrapper. Worse more than just the kids from the orphanage to avoid the older 'organizations' where always worried about territory. When he had been a kid he was always sent on his way but now his earning his scraps was somehow disrespecting the social order. As if a band of murderous thieves weren't already a disruption to the social order. More than just tough that winter was cold. He remembers shivering alone in an alley. He would have died if not that night then some other night he would catch a shank or slip on an icy roof. But luck took him to an old man. Some figure the old man useless. An old drunk Chult. Well it turns out the old drunk Chult had good spot for hiding out, keeping warm and laying low. Sure it was in a sewer tunnel but it was out of the way almost hidden it shared a wall with the basement of some building with a hearth in the basement so one of the walls was always warm even without a fire. The old man found Bhoors passed out in an alley bloody. He brought the kid home and gave him a place to stay. The too became friends the old man would speak about the man's homeland. Chult the stories were different wild far off. He learned from the old man. They spoke in the old man's native language when they wanted others to not understand them. One night the old man brought Bhoors a lute. It had been years since Bhoors had played but he remembered well enough. The old man didn't come home one night, something he long predicted would happen, "one of these nights I ain't comin' home too old. Kelmevor is gonna get me and send me on." Bhoors missed the old man, he owed the old man a debt that he couldn't repay. After a while Bhoors was old enough to take work and he returned to a life of a performer in inns and taverns. This time he was the singer. He played well and learned what he could from any one that would teach him. He traveled the road saw Waterdeep, Bualder's Gate, and places big and small in between. A few weeks back he heard that ship was heading to Chult. A notion hit him. To see the home of his friend, to look on a Dinosaur and walk in the jungle. He collected his things and met a sailor, cute in the right light who was headed on a ship south. She was fun for awhile on the trip. It was the Capatain that well had different concepts of property. Bhoors was thrown in the bilge and forced to man the pump until they reached Port Nyanzaru. Equipment:
