Gazigaz Pregen |
The chill night air did not touch Gazigaz as he sat contentedly on a log near the fire. His green fur and exquisite clothes normally did well to insulate him from cold weather but today he enjoyed basking in the fire's warm glow, savoring the heat and smell. The chirping of some local insects set a pleasant tone casting an aura of calm and peacefulness about the little camp.
The envoy looked around the little camp at his companions, he hadn't spent much time in their company but did genuinely came to like them. As the skittermander lounged he descided to strike up a conversation. "This is living, the pleasant things make all the difference. yes,no?" he made his statement a question to prompt someone to answer.
Quonx - Pregen |
Quonx sits by the fire reading some book about quantum physics she found lying around while absentmindedly tinkering with something that vaguely resembles a wrench when she notices that Gazigaz was talking to her. "What was that? Oh yes, living...pleasant...difference." she mumbles out a garbled version of what Gazigaz has just said not even really paying attention to the words as they leave her lips. She then holds up her "wrench" "Do you know what this is? This is my quantum reality spanner. Isn't it just so amazing? With this I'll be able to twist subatomic particles into certain configurations and fix reality on a quantum level, if I can ever make it work." Her voice gets much softer on that last part.
Quonx continues to talk about her wrench for the rest of the evening or until someone else jumps in to introduce themselves and cuts her off.
Ebon Fist's Nako |
Nako just grunts as she examines her Doshko. The weapon is at least as long as she is, and unwieldy even in much larger hands. It is only the fact that she has 6 that allows her to manipulate it as deftly as she does and even then, those closest to her might be inclined to duck or flinch as she moves it around.
She squints at Quonx's tool. "Yes, yes, I'm sure it's quite useful. But how good is it if you need to hit someone over the head? Now this...THIS is a tool..." she says, brandishing her oversized weapon and looking to the last Skittermander seated around the fire for confirmation.

It began as a dull day aboard the Clutch, Nakonechkin
Salvage’s only ship and your home for the past year or so.
Your boss, the vesk Nakonechkin, brought the ship out of
Pact Words space and into some of the void beyond, looking
for derelict space stations or the remains of forgotten
starship battles to pick through.
Suddenly, with a buzzing chime, the ship’s computers
registered a starship drifting in the region. Nakonechkin
rushed to the captain’s console and initiated a scan. An
image of the target ship appeared on screen: a large, ornate
green starship with brass accents. It looked abandoned and
ill-suited to be so far from the Pact Worlds.
Nakonechkin quickly pulled on his space suit and grabbed
a set of all-purpose tools. “This looks like an easy enough job.
You lot stay here and keep an eye on the Clutch. Try not to
‘repair’ anything while I’m away. I should be back in a couple
of nanoseconds.” He nodded curtly and cycled the airlock to
float over to the derelict ship.
Two hours have passed since Nakonechkin departed, and
he isn’t responding to your communications. Something must
have gone terribly wrong—and Nakonechkin might need help!
It is up to you to decide how to help, but roll computers to gather more info.
Azih Pregens |
Tool? I have my heart beat hearer. Stethoscope the old ones called it. You push it on chest and then ooooh.. thub thub thub thub thub...!
Dakoyo squeaks out, as he waves around the knobbu end of the device he always wears around his neck. If he hadn't been talking about it pretty much constantly the rest would have thought it to be some kind of strange necklace.
How many nanoseconds are in a couple? he wonders. Has it been more than a couple? We should go help Captain!
Ebon Fist's Nako |
"Dakoyo is right. It has been more than a couple. It is time to go help the Captain," Nako speaks up. Though it is unlikely the others listen, whenever the captain is away, Nako at least tries to be leader, emulating her idol in that way.
"Get us into that ship, Quonx!" she declares, pointing several fingers at a screen that may or may not actually display the ship that the captain went into. (It IS a ship, but it might be the one they're on...)
Ebon Fist's Nako |
Nako knows almost less than nothing about computers or other fancy technology. But she knows that it involves pushing buttons so that's what she does, leaning over Quonx and pressing buttons to help.
Computers Aid Another: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Quonx - Pregen |
Quonx slaps Nako's hand away "No touchy me precious machine. You the breaker, me the fixer."
Computer check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
That should be able to tell us something.
Gazigaz Pregen |
"I worried too, What we find out about ship?" Gazigaz says as he walks over to the stand with the others. "Any unusual reading? Maybe ship not empty after all, Maybe filled with Nufriends."
DoubleGold |
10+: The vessel’s transponder identifies it as the Emerald
Empyrean, a pleasure barge owned by a Vercite company
called Trendsetter Excursions. The only ways to enter the ship
are through two airlock doors, one on the port side near the
aft and one on the starboard side near the fore. The forward
airlock is completely sealed shut, but the aft airlock could be
forced open.
15+: The Emerald Empyrean is a modified heavy freighter
with a forward-facing heavy weapon and a small turret
weapon, but plenty of room for passengers and recreational
activities. Though its thrusters are active, they are currently
idle, and the ship has enough power to provide artificial
gravity, interior lighting, and life support.
20+: Further scans reveal over a dozen life signs aboard the
ship, which Nakonechkin missed on his initial scans. Most of
these life signs are concentrated in an area in the ship’s aft,
on the starboard side. Nakonechkin’s life signs are visible, but
the vesk is currently in a semi-conscious state and his location
cannot be pinpointed. An additional anomalous energy
signature is detected in the ship’s center.
25+: It appears that most of the Emerald Empyrean’s
functions are controlled by a single onboard artificial
intelligence core, which is very unusual for a ship this
size. However, the AI doesn’t respond to any attempts to
communicate with it.
Ebon Fist's Nako |
"Not supposed to be no nufriends onboard! Captain didn't see them. They must have come onboard after the captain did! We have to save him from his nap and these nufriends!"
She hefts her Doshko, using all three hands on her left side then points at the screen with the hands on the right side.
"That's the way we go in and we search until we find the captain and bring him back!" she declares, pointing at the aft airlock.
DoubleGold |
Once outside of the Clutch, the Furries hook
themselves to that ship with tethers for safety
and then push off toward the Emerald Empyrean.
The two vessels are a few hundred feet apart,
but it takes no more than a few minutes
to float between them. The cruise
ship’s outer airlock door is marked
with a large Trendsetter Excursions
logo (a golden rocket blasting out of a
glass of sparkling wine) and can easily be
opened using an adjacent access panel. A PC
who succeeds at a DC 15 Computers or
Engineering check notes make the check
Quonx - Pregen |
Quonx makes a as if pushing the others aside with all 6 of his hands "Step sideways little furries, I's gots diss." He then floats up to the access panel and gives it a shot opening the door.
Engineering check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Tada, and we's in.
DoubleGold |
someon eelse, likely Nakonechkin, has already
hacked the panel.
Small meteorites are falling from the sky, not big or strong enough to damage a ship by big enough to damage you, you cannot get back inside, you are too far away, you're halfway between here and there so everyone has 1 round to react before they make reflex saves. Bless or something to increase the saves would be nice.
Gazigaz Pregen |
"That doesn't look good. Gree? Give it all six and go,go,go." The green skittermander shouted as he made haste to get away form the falling debris.
I don't have anything either my abilities are combat buffs.
DoubleGold |
Speaking as the mystic of the group. Sadly I don't think there's anything like that. He can hurl a telekinteic projectile at it though!
Great, not going to work, see post in discussion page as to why this sucks. Okay Everyone Just roll Reflex
Anyone that fails dc 13 reflex takes dmg: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4) = 13, this is a one time roll and is all or none. At least even 18 dmg which is the max, nobody dies.
Ebon Fist's Nako |
"Graahr! Stupid space rocks!" Nako exclaims as the hurtling stones reach them. She swipes at one with her Doshko and even hits it, though she could never knock them all away.
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
The motion sends her spinning and twisting, though and it is that as much as any actual skill that allows her to avoid getting struck by any of them.
DoubleGold |
Heroes get to a spaceship and get the hatch open and the storm passes I'm assuming you take 10 on engineering. You are unable to short rest for now. Azih is the only one down 13 hit points
You get inside and are greeted by three patrol robots Pets should go in the appropriate containers. They lower their weapons.
You have a choice to fight or willingly be locked in cages, I'm assuming you all pick fight.
init: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (12) = 16 robots, 3 of them
init: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (11) = 12 Azih Pregens
init: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (9) = 14 Nako
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (9) = 11 Gazigaz
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (19) = 21 Quonox
I'll get maps up in a while, but first I need to know what everyone is doing, I'm assuming fight, but the other is a choice, you can make your actions or wait for map and I'll adjust accordingly and put you on the map
Quonox is up
Ebon Fist's Nako |
"Take us to the Captain, metal talking thing!" Nako declares. She certainly isn't willingly going into a cage while the captain is missing.
Quonx - Pregen |
Quonx pulls out laser rifle and points it at the robots. "You no nufriend, you just metal thingy. Me make you fall asleep down then me take you good bits for meself."
Gazigaz Pregen |
Gazigaz moved forward with a flourish of his cloak. In his most athoratative voice said "Hi hi, better idea, why don't you take us to the captain, we don't need cages."
Should I roll a diplomacy?
DoubleGold |
No you can't make them take you to their captain. Honestly the only option is to attack, cause if you accept yourselves as prisoners, you, you lose. I wouldn't actually have let you do that, I just want to see what the players would actually do.
They are constructs for anyone who wises to make the appropriate knowledge check
Map is up and at top of page too.
Quonox is up
DoubleGold |
Okay, so Quonox will use the laser rifle hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (4) = 8 vs EAC.
dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 8 fire miss
They then move forward, 2 on Nako, 1 on Gazigaz, they will try a reposition grapple
grapple: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (8) = 14 on Nako
grapple: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (10) = 16 on Nako
grapple: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (4) = 10 on Gazigaz and they all miss
It is DC vs combat manuevers, don't worry they have other tricks.
Pets in cages now the robots say with a robotic voice Or we will knock you out and force you in
All heroes are up
Ebon Fist's Nako |
"Hands off, mechano-thing!" Nako orders before taking a swipe at one of the robots that tried to grab her with her doshko.
Doshko: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Gazigaz Pregen |
"OH! I like hugs, But I don't think you're a Nufriend after all." Gazigaz says. "GET 'EM!"
Simple action: Speak. Move Action: Get 'em on robot closest to Gazigaz (+1 circumstance bonus to all attacks against robot) Standard Action: Attack with Tactical Baton +1 Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Quonx - Pregen |
Quonx fires again with his laser rifle.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
DoubleGold |
Nako damages one, while the others miss, while the laser vs EAC almost hits but bounces off then vanishes.
They will grapple grapple: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (2) = 8
grapple: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (12) = 18 vs nako and they miss
grapple: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (4) = 10
grapple doesn't seem like much, and it is very hard to pull off, cause it if vs grapple maneuver which is very high KAC+8, but if they throw you in the cage, you are out of the fight even though you have all your HP. Until fight is over. The battle could theoretically end in 4 rounds with a total party loss. One round to grapple, another to put you in the cage. Three people grappled at a time.
All heroes are up
Ebon Fist's Nako |
"Ha ha! You can't put Nako in a cage! she exclaims as she avoids that fate, again.
It worked once, so she swings again.
Doshko: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Gazigaz Pregen |
With a grunt of effort, Gazigaz swings his baton at the bot.
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
blunt: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Ebon Fist's Nako |
[b]"Don't run away robo man! I'm just starting to like you!"[/] Nako exclaims as the combined might of the skittermanders takes one of the robots out and the others start to retreat.
Doshko: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Ebon Fist's Nako |
Reflex 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Reflex 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
"Ack! Stickystuff is no good!" Nako shouts as she is entangled by the goo from a grenade.
She draws her pistol and takes a shot. It's not nearly as good, or satisfying as the Doshko, but she wants to destroy this robot that's keeping her from saving the captain.
Tactical Semi-Autopistol: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Piercing damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Azih Pregens |
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Dakoyo, almost miraculously, manages to avoid both grenades.
Seeing Nako stuck, he hurries to help her get free. I help Nako! so Nako can help Captain by stopping silly robots!
Not sure what roll I can do to help get her unentangled?
DoubleGold |
I'll figure that one out in a minute, what you need to do to unentangle, edits coming.
reflex: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (14) = 19 quonox
reflex: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (20) = 25 quonox
reflex: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (1) = 6 Gazigaz
reflex: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (2) = 7 Gazigaz
Gazigaz being entangled fires at the robot hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (9) = 13 vs EAC dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2 electric. miss
hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (15) = 19 dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 7 as Quonox also fires. but Quonox blasts one down.
Edit: Azih, it does not say, we are just going to say you do so buy cutting the webs or whatever with your melee weapon, but that is your action.
The last robot fires a weapon at Nako hit: 9 + 1d20 ⇒ 9 + (16) = 25 vs EAC
dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 electric and nonlethal.
All heroes are up only one robot left.
Quonx - Pregen |
Quonx fires again at the last remaining robot.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Ebon Fist's Nako |
"Thank you, Azih! I'll smash these robots, but good!" Nako replies, a moment before being zapped.
She seems to double in size as her fur stands on end.
"Graagh!" she growls as she rishes the last robot and swings
Doshko: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
