Hi all!
I'm considering running a game of the Void, an RPG made by Wildfire that is the spiritual successor to their Chthonian Star setting for Traveller. The core rules are currently available as a pay-what-you-want PDF and quick-start rules are available for free (if you just want an idea of what the game is like).
The setting is hard sci-fi and the game focuses on survival horror and investigation of the Cthulu-esque events and entities that have started to plague the solar system. PCs play Wardens, a semi-secret organization tasked with policing these things.
Any interest in the game? I'd tweak some things for PbP (rather than rolling defense, I'd just use the average value, rolling Initiative once per combat instead of every round, etc.). And for specifics (beyond spacefaring Wardens) I'll wait to see what people say, but I'm strongly considering running the published series of adventures that at least begins in the Martian Outback.

I like what I read, and now I have a couple movies I need to rent.
Count me in. My first thought for a character is a Warden Enforcer trained in heavy weapons similar to PFC Vasquez from Aliens.
There's a lot of room for customization and quirks, which is awesome.
And tentacles.

I have an idea for 3 different characters, all of which are percolating in my brain:
A knife specialized enforcer who is good at stealth and tactics, who comes from hyperion and was forced to kill his abusive father as a child after his father joined a cult
An incredibly tough investigator (of the noir style PI type) who got drug into investigating a string of murders that were done by something supernatural
or
a pop culture driven scientist who believes that technology is the key to understanding an communicating with the intelligence that is behind the cthonian star.

Seeing some interest is heartening. I have 1-2 people that will probably come on board as players, so if we can get to a total of 3-4 interested parties, I'll start a real recruitment thread and we can go from there.
I do have access to and encourage the use of Characters Unbound if people want to use it. Nothing that would make it a required purchase (Empathy, Aptitudes, etc.) will be used, but people are welcome to use the Lifepath Character generation rules, the Talents presented, and I may end up using Achievements.

I started an honest-to-goodness recruitment thread, so please hop in there when you have character ideas.
And as for being familiar with the mechanics, I wouldn't worry too much. It is fairly basic and the Core Rules give you a step-by-step guide to making a character. Choosing a Specialty from the three presented is extremely easy and gives you the majority of your character already completed.

Counting this (don't worry) but the full blown recruitment thread is here: http://paizo.com/campaigns/DMMorviussIntoTheVoid/recruiting
Hop on over.
I do wish the boards would let me just change the title of this thread to a recruiting one, but cest la vie.
