ExplorationStation's Untitled Campaign

Game Master ExplorationStation

Howdy folks, I'm starting an online game using a homebrew setting. I'm looking for 3-5 players who are interested in a role-play heavy campaign that makes use of Ultimate Campaign and the kingdom building rules. A brief rundown of the setting/plot/game follows, but the full writeup will be made available to players who are interested. I already have a player or two but we're looking to fill out the group. We might end up using Roll20 or some other system but Skype at least will be a requirement.

The Premise: A new continent has been opened for exploration and colonization, and the rush is one. Guilds, Nations, and Churches clamber to put feet down on this virgin soil. However, the New World is populated by natives, terrible beasts, ancient ruins, and countless other dangers. The players take the role of a group organizing and setting out to found a colony. They'll wheel and deal in the Old World to gain the support of different factions, secure funding, find willing colonists, and fend off rivals for the first 1-2 sessions. Following that they'll set sail for the New World and found their colony. From there the game opens up into a true sandbox.

Themes: The characters are setting out into the unknown. The New World is rife with magic, wonder, riches, and a native population that is every bit as rich and nuanced as the lands they've left. They bring the politics and prejudices of the Old World with them and will have to deal with those troubles as they struggle to keep their colony alive and successful.

Character Creation: Starting at level 3 with 4,500 gold to cover some of the early expenses and troubles the players will encounter. We'll roll stats the old fashioned way. Paizo only products. Races will be somewhat limited, core plus about half a dozen more (and I'll work with players for others case-by-case) Any class, any alignment except NE and CE.

What we're looking for: I've been a DM/ST/GM for ten years, both online and around the table. Pathfinder however I'm relatively new to, I've only been playing for about a year. I will mess up a rule now and then but I will also listen to the players and correct my mistakes. I need players who are ok with this, and players who are alright not making super optimized killing machines as a small mercy to me. Players should be comfortable making full fleshed out characters with a history, motivations, and aspirations. Characters will be heading up a colony, making decisions, and handling a lot of issues both diplomatic and military themselves. I want players who are going to be alright in a sandbox environment. Lastly, please be comfortable making characters who mesh with the group and can function together.

When are we starting: In about 2 weeks! But during that time the players will be making characters together, going over and amending setting details to accommodate players, working out the specifics of what the characters are trying to do in terms of their colony (National colony, guild business expedition, religious haven, etc.)

Post away! I'll private message you my skype within 24 hours and we'll get a little group chat going.

Wow this is an interesting concept. If you wouldn't mind could you tell me the time when you're thinking of playing the game (evening, night, noon)? Otherwise I am very interested.

Doh! I knew I forgot something. We're gonna take stock of what works for everyone, I imagine evening/night is probably going to be the most likely? Also thanks for the interest. I should also note that although the actual sessions will have a scheduled time, I absolutely encourage roleplaying or a pseudo play by post outside the scheduled times. If two players want their characters to discuss how they are going to handle X or Y, they can and just recap the group/GM later.

Edit: I also don't mind if players have to miss a game here and there. The way the game is structured it is easy to say X is busy being doing General/Grand Diplomat whatever stuff while the party has to explore.

As someone who previously DMed a Kingmaker campaign and went waaaay too into creating a system and UI for the players to use to control the kingdom I'm extremely interested in being a PC in your game. (Unfortunately I ended up losing everything when massive driver corruption forced me to wipe my HDD)

My schedule is currently extremely open (Much to my dismay) so just about any time on any day is good for me.

Looking forward to getting into contact with you some time tomorrow.

I present this guy. I made him for a kingmaker pbp I had to withdraw from. If the setting isn't Galorian I can change some stuff.

I would like to play if the timing can be worked out. Please include me in the beginning discussion.

I would be interested in this, definitely. Always wanted to try out the kingdom building stuff. I am open almost any day (not sunday evening, wednesday evening, or frday pre-5pm est US time). I have also been playing for a little more than a year myself. It's not very often you see a non-pbp game on here.

Skype is oreofox. I have many character ideas that I would like to try out, and pick one of those to use. I also don't flake out after a few sessions, like I have seen many people do in the last year I have been playing online (not saying anyone here does). So definitely color me interested.

Woohoo! Interest! I'm gonna say anybody past this point who is interested feel free to post, but you may not get a guaranteed seat unless scheduling conflicts arise or someone current drops out. Everybody who expressed interest already should have a private message or a skype invite.

hp: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5) = 13

Try out this dice roller thing, as I assume it is 4d6 drop lowest.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 5) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 2) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 2) = 7
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 1) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 6) = 21

Wow... That's just terrible.

I... wow. Hmm, what could I do with these... That's a tough one for sure. Gonna have to think about this one. Unless I could get a reroll.

Once you accept Exploration's contact request on skype we can explain how we've rolled stats so far. Basically he's letting us choose.

That's good to hear. I have accepted the contact request already, so will wait until I hear from him.
