Kwin Longclaw |

Seeing the guards from the corner of his eye, Kwin patently ignores them, skids to a stop, points frantically back the way they came, and begins shouting at the receptionist.
"Fight! Fight! Help! The whole room's in madness and it took us this long to get here from our seats it was supposed to be a nice meal and a show and look at my face some varlet slammed me with one of YOUR tankards and I might have broken my nose and my GODS what kind of place are you running never again will I stay at this establishment!!!" he says breathlessly, trying to look panicked.
Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 14

GM: |

@Miyako Roll a skill you feel would be suitable to know that information
Sense Motive #1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Sense Motive #2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Sense Motive #3: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Wow ok
The guards upon seeing a very frazzled patron rush through the entrance, let out a collective sigh. The middle guard addresses you
Sir, please proceed through the exit. we need to block that entrance encase any of the ruffians come out. One of the guards outside will protect you, just let them know Sgt. Jenkins let you out.

![]() |

Miyako turns her head from one side to the other, scanning her surroundings to find out where she's ended up.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 That should do :)

Kwin Longclaw |

What a bunch of bogus rolls there, GM! Sometimes the dice are just evil. Though I have to admit it's comforting to see it happen to the person on the other side of the screen every now and then!
Kwin's head snaps around as if he's becoming aware of the guards for the first time.
"Oh, thank you sir, thank you! I was starting to fear for my life in there! Keep an eye open for a surly dwarf who was grabbing at our serving girl before the fight broke out... he was the one who started this ruckus!" JAB! :o)
"Come along, machine!" says Kwin as he heads out the entrance with a subtle sigh of relief.
Once outside he looks around to take stock of the situation -- how the guards are arranged around the building, how many there are, the size of the onlooker crowd if any, etc. He'll also scan for any of the people who were at his table.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Also, does this building stand free, as in: Is it possible to circle it or at least slip around the back?

K-01 'Kol' |

"Yes, Master."
Kol follows Kwin outside. Once out on the street he scans the area to see how the guards are deployed. He didn't want to engage them if possible, but it would be good to plot an escape route just in case he had to evacuate Kwin in a hurry.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

GM: |

@Miyako The room is a large rectangle room. You came out the west door, and though the smoke you see a window at the north and east positions both smashed open, as well as another door to the south. You also see several cooks on the floor aside two smoke canisters. You have a move action, afterwards roll fort again.
@Kol/Kwin I'm going to give the others a chance first but I'll answer your ooc. The building are situated next to each other, so no sneaking between buildings. a street is bustling with people, several of whom are stopping to watch the scene. Others are watching each of the entrances, specificaly the bar entrance where people are being netted as they exit. (I assume Nimos is there but we will see) As you scan the area 3 guards come up to you, 2 of them with swords at the read. The other one is distinguishable from the rest. He approaches without a helmet between the two other guards. He has a striking curly while mustache and is extremly tall for a half-orc. Unlike the other guards you see a rifle at his back, a large device which he has no reserve showing. He approaches with his hands clapsed behind his back Whats all this then?! Who let you ruffians outside?!

Kwin Longclaw |

"Ruffian? RUFFIAN? How dare you! Do I look like a ruffian? I'm a paying guest at this inn! I was in the tavern, intent on nothing more than enjoying a good meal and a show. Hardly had one bite of my meal when some troublemaker started grabbing at our server and a fight broke out!"
Kwin touches his swollen and rapidly bruising face gingerly. "Caught a pewter tankard right across the face before I got out, too," he says, calming his voice to a more conversational tone.
"Some man calling himself 'Sergeant Jenkins' sent me out here. Said he had to block the entrance, and that there would be guards out here if I needed help."
"Oh... this..." he says almost as an afterthought, jerking his thumb at Kol, "is my porter. I'd say 'bodyguard' but you can see what a lovely job he did at that. And not a word out of you," he says to the warforged, a finger pointed at his metal face accompanying the quick wink of one eye blocked from the guard's view.
Turning back to the moustachioed man he asks somewhat more calmly and politely, "Any idea when I can go back in? The show's no doubt a loss and I've lost my appetite, but a wet cloth for the face and a good lie-down would serve me well about now."
Not going to bother with a Bluff role since everything Kwin said is the absolute truth with no fudging involved. :o) Understood on the timesharing, just let me know when you need me to jump back in, I'll go (mostly?) silent 'til then.

Miyako runs toward the smashed open window at the north, and leaps through with her hands covering her head.
Acrobatics: jump: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
After leaping through the smashed open window 007 style, Miyako rolls on the ground and ends up in a sitting position. She quickly covers her nose properly again when she realizes she's not doing that anymore.
No no no, I don't want to turn green and yellow!
Fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Checking her arms Miyako concludes her skin hasn't turned green and yellow, which she thinks the effect of the smoke is. "Oh, lucky", her lips say, but they make no sound. She looks around to see if there are any guards in sight, or any of the people she's met inside the inn.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

GM: |

Always remember that their is a Diplomacy skill too :) But usualy I prefer a sound argument anyway so you check out
The man waits politly for Kwin to be done. Then (as if remembering a joke) lets out a hardy laugh
BWAHAHAH Had a rough time did you old boy? Don't fret, we will have this inn working again soon enough. I'll have Guardsman Johneth here escort you over there He turns his back and points to an area with a few other guardsmen and some civilians sitting at the edge of the street talking to each other. He then turns back to you We'll need a full statement from you of these events.

Nimos Yardan |

100: 1d100 ⇒ 31
fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Failing to follow his own advice Nimos stumbles and gasps in a little of the fumes before snorting and pushing his way out of the building.

Kwin Longclaw |

Yeah, and Kwin's diplomacy is every bit as stellar as his bluffing (+0). :oP Just to close out this conversation...
"Thank you," Kwin replies, providing his room number. Then he frowns. "Though after this I'm not sure I care to spend any more time at this establishment; that might further spoil my enjoyment of the festival. But I'll update you if I secure safer lodging."

"Dirty" Harry Calahan |

1d100 ⇒ 9
Holding his breath, harry drops his shoulder and rushes towards the first exit he sees, an open window. running and dodging around scared patrons, he leaps for the opening and fresh air...
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
...and slams face first into the window jam. Coughing loudly, Harry jumps and leans out of the window, falling onto his side on the ground outside. Rolling to clear the building, harry stops when he hits something hard. Looking up, he sees a couple guardsmen standing over him, swords drawn and pointed at him.
Well, how rude of you gentlemen to wake an orc-elf up from his nap. Here i was, minding my own business and BAM, there you guys are, prodding me. STanding to his feet, being sure to keep his hands in clear sight.
well good job gentlemen, keep up the good work. I will not delay you from doing the guardsy stuff.
Harry turns and begins to walk quickly towards the front...
NIMOS!? Where are you buddy! NIMOS!!!

GM: |

Sorry I've been out of commission the last couple days, few things you guys did that need reviewing
#1 Miyako, The crack in the window you tried to go though was not big enough for you to go through, that being said you could have easily OPENED the window, does that sound more to you likeing?
#2 Harry you need to roll a for save as you didnt manage to hold your breath (under 35 is fail to hold breath)

![]() |

Haha, I didn't even think of that. I thought the entire window was in pieces xD
I'll retcon my post. As it's a retcon, I hope it's okay that I use the same results for the rolls I made in the first version of the post?
Miyako runs for the window and quickly opens it, climbing out of the building.
I got out! Woohoo!

GM: |

As Harry stumbles out the window, a pain flares up in his lungs which causes 1d4 ⇒ 3 STR damage. As your body feels itself weakening, colors appear before your eyes and your vision becomes unfocused making it hard to concentrate, leaving you Dazed. A par of guards come up one with a sword while the other attempts to tie you up. Reroll with a -2 penalty to shake off the effect.
Miyako successfully makes it outside without breathing in the fumes...only to come face-to-face with the sword points of 2 guards. One of the guards lets out a loud sigh as you tumble out the window. Seriously? We finaly get to raid a place and we get the runt of the litter to deal with?
The other guard ignores his companion and stares you down. The first guard continues talking Alright, hands behind your back we'll need to take you in little one

![]() |

Tears well up in Miyako's eyes and she starts to cry. "I'm... I'm so glad you f-found me! *sniff* T-there w-w-waaaas this dw-dwaaaarf with his talking metal... *sniff* cookie caaaans and th-they just attacked everyone *sniff* I t-t-tried to escaaaape *sniff* then the gas came and I r-r-ran to the kitcheeeeen *sniff*" Miyako rubs her eyes and tears roll over her cheeks, all to make her slightly bent truth more convincing to the guards.
Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

GM: |

Sense Motive: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (12) - 3 = 9
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
After the long-winded speech guard #1 gives a faint chuckle at the unconvincing speech and crocodile tears. While guard #2 simple says We saw you climb out of that window with excellent precision, aside from that you managed to leave the building without feeling the effects of the gas, clearly your no ordinary little girl
Guard #1 looks at his companion with shock at this unexpected revelation and says Uuuuuh yeah! Now don't fight back "little girl" we wouldn't want to hurt you

![]() |

Miyako dries her tears and stand up straight, looking at both guards with a look of guilt on her face. "I beg my pardon, misters of the guard. I was just enjoying myself inside with a decent conversation about my elders, when the dwarf came and started to attack random people with some huge metal cookie cans. Only thing I wanted to do today was have fun and dance."
Which I did, haha.
"I'm sorry for this act of mine, but I didn't know what was going on and tried to escape. Fight or flee, get it? Basic human reactions. I'm not much of a fighter, really. More the fleeing type. When the gas came in I was afraid I'd turn green and yellow so I fled. Not too strange one might panic and try to escape, is it? Especially not after some random dwarf started a riot. Once again, sorry for my act. I was afraid you might hurt me, and as I said I'm more the fleeing kind of person. Though with the feeling of having to escape gone, I'm now able to see the mistake I made."
Miyako: I'm so glad you taught me to talk this smooth, great-grandfather. I'm sure they'll believe me now.
Great-grandfather: Sure, kid. And if it doesn't help, kick them in the balls!
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 Ah darn it...

GM: |

OH GAWD!! Harry turned into a lizard thing O.O
@Harry 1d4 ⇒ 3 STR damage Try try again!
@Miyako
Guard #1 looks flustered at your sudden change in character, (even if he was told the first act was a fake). However Guard #2 continues to be unphased and says That's all well and good but we'll still need to take you in. Just let my friend here tie your arms so you won't try anything funny and we can get this mess sorted out

![]() |

"Bleh!" Miyako sticks out her tongue to Guard 2. Not a second later her foot, engulfed in fire, moves for his crotch. AoO?
Kick (Touch of Flame): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Great-grandfather: Shame on you! You're a girl, you should learn to properly aim for crotches when kicking! Basic self-defense!
Realizing she's missed, Miyako does the most unlikely thing. She quickly turns around and tries to get back inside the building through the window.
Fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 For some reason these rolls continue to be good <.<
Initiative?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

GM: |

GM Arbitrary roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Hmmm alright
Guard #2 easily dodges the kick and upon seeing the young girl try to escape, attempts to Grapple her. Guard #1 is too slow to respond and fumbles, dropping his sword on the ground Now we know why he is stationed at the window lol Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 However he is too slow and narrowly misses the girl's legs as she jumps back into the building.
Too bad for the girl as the gas takes effect dealing 1d4 ⇒ 2 STR damage and leaving her Dazzed

![]() |

With the penalty to her strength Miyako's backpack starts to feel heavy. Her head starts spinning and she doesn't seem able to move anywhere.
Wha-wha-whaaaat?
Looking down at her arms again, Miyako sees yellow. In her current state Miyako's doesn't realize it's the yellow from her jacket's sleeves, and she panics.
Nooo! I've turned yellow!

![]() |

Unless the gas' daze effect works the same as the spell Daze (preventing a target from getting dazed again for a whole minute), this is what will happen next.
Fort save: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 2 = 3
STR Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Current STR = 5
The gas' effect continues to weaken Miyako, who by now feels her entire body weaken considerably. Her head spins like crazy, and she has trouble focusing.
I... need to get out...
Fort save: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 2 = 8
STR Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1 Current STR = 4
The gas fills Miyako's lungs and she begins to wobble on her feet.
I should... never have... even if I'd just gone with them...
Fort save: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 2 = 5
STR Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Current STR = 0
Miyako falls to the floor, unconscious. The last thing she hears are the voices of some of her elders. Some scream, some cry, some laugh...

Nimos Yardan |

Con damage kills you at 0 str just means you can't move.
Seeing two of his fighting buddys fall in the gas Nimos takes a deep breathe of clean air turns and trys to drag them out.
hold breath: 1d100 ⇒ 52
Nimos heads in and grabs Harry's arm dragging his limp body to the young girl.
hold breath: 1d100 ⇒ 42
Turning slightly blue he grabs the girl in his other hand turns to the exit dragging them both out.

GM: |

Summary of situation:
Kol/Kwin: Successfully Negotiated their way out of the side door building. You guys can see both Harry and Nimos in the front
Miyako: Unconscious in Kitchen.
Harry: Outside front window, being tied up, 1 more fort roll for you, if you fail you'll be tied up without help.
Merrilin: Staying put enjoying a pipe.
Nimos: Outside front door, in the middle of a mishmash of choking patrons and guards tying people up. At this point two guards come up to you (about 2/3 your size) holding up swords LAY DOWN YOUR WEAPONS!!! one of them says

Kwin Longclaw |

Kwin subtly nudges Kol and then ducks his head ever so slightly in Nimos' and Harry's direction.

Nimos Yardan |

#retconed action
Seeing Harry fall Nimos grabs him and pulls him away from the gas. When the guards come up he shrugs and draws and drops his blade in front of them.
Ok, now what.
He looks down on them and raises an eyebrow.

K-01 'Kol' |

Kol follows Qwin's gaze and looks in Harry's and Nimos' direction, then at the guards now surrounding them.
He slowly shakes his head side to side in reply. There were too many guards in the vicinity for them to mount any kind of realistic rescue and trying to speak on their behalf right now would most likely implicate themselves as well or at least put far more scrutiny on their tenuous innocence than he was comfortable with.

Nimos Yardan |

Nimos looks at the rope.
How about I just follow you. I will carry my friend here and that rope isn't strong enough to hold me anyway.
He motions forward
Lead the way.

GM: |

The guards bind Nimos's and Harry's hands and escort Nimos/carry Harry to an area with some other bound patrons and a group of guards. As soon as you the half-orc with a mustache steps up to the group on and addresses them from atop a wooden crate.
All right then, you RRRRRuffians will need to be brought in to spend a night in the brig to teach you lot a lesson. Once the damage has been assessed you will each charged a fine for your time here. Guardsmen! Advant Front! A large portion of the guards surround the group and start escorting them down the street. About a forth of the guards are carrying unconscious and bound patrons. Two of the guards can be seen holding a familiar young human girl and a gnome. Miyako and Merrilin By this point the tavern/inn is well under control and any remaining guards are simple moving the crowd of onlookers out of the way.
I have this thing for my work today/tomorrow and will thus be unable to post, (sorry my posting has been a bit shotty) and we will start again on Wednesday. If anyone's characters have objections/reactions to the current situation go ahead and post them and I'll see them when I get back.

Kwin Longclaw |

"Well that's hardly fair," Kwin says quietly to Kol. "None of them started that ruckus; a few were hardly even involved. And I didn't see that dwarven troublemaker anywhere in the group. If anyone should be locked away, it's him."
He watches the assemblage move away down the street. "I'm glad you and I managed to avoid that, but..." Kwin trails off into silence.

Nimos Yardan |

I wonder where the dwarf is I don't think they didn't manage to get him out of the floor but its a nice thought.
Guard whens the mist going to ease off my friend here I am a bit bored with no one to talk with.

GM: |

Yes it is interesting that a certain dwarf isn't present *wink*
The guard jumps upon being addressed by Nimos (apparently lost in his own thoughts). He doesn't look at Nimos, but looks forward while answering back Y-your buddy will be out f-for a while *cough*. An hour or two probably, and it will take him a while to recover. This stuff makes you go real weak in the knees, I'd guess by tomorrow mourning he'll have most of his Strength back He pauses for a second then looks down at the ground and looks up again this time at Nimos Not sure if I should've told you that. I'm still pretty new here.

Kwin Longclaw |

You just watch, Nimos. That dwarf'll turn out to be the Judge or something...
"Well we don't owe any of them anything, yeah? We were only seated at the same table, is all. No need to get involved, right?" mutters to Kol as if trying to convince himself.

K-01 'Kol' |

Once out of the earshot of the few guards milling about, Kol speaks up. "While unfortunate, their plight does not appear to be life-threatening. At worst they will spend a few nights in jail before being released."
He changes the subject, "Perhaps you should ask the guards if it is safe for us to retrieve your belongings from the inn, Sir. It would be prudent not to linger here any longer than is necessary."

Kwin Longclaw |

"I'm still owed a baijiu," he replies grumpily. "And I never had a chance to finish my pulque."
"On the other hand," he adds thoughtfully, "the bill's probably been forgotten in the confusion, so perhaps it's best to leave well enough alone." His eyes rove over the remaining guards who seem mostly done with their crowd control. And then he nods.
"You're probably right, Kohl. I do wonder if our server's okay... though excepting the chandelier incident she seemed able to take care of herself well enough."
Kwin heads back towards the inn's entrance to retrieve their gear from the room.

GM: |

You reenter the main entrance. At the front desk you see a guard with his back turned talking to a large-bellied kitsune woman in the hallway. She is holding a long smokestick with which she pulls in a breath of smoke every once in a while. The guard is holding his helmet under his arm and a tough of green lace can be seen dangling down.
Things have settled down, though not mentioned there was probably about a 10 minute interval between now and the last time you were in this room
When you walk inside the receptionist from earlier is still there and says to you, Oh sorry sir the inn is closed at the moment, you'll have to come back another time The guard and the woman keep talking.
