Jeorik, I suppose you're walking in from the north? Are you alone? Are you making for the Korvosa right away, or Citadel Vraid, another day or three to the south? Maybe I can help you decide where you're going first in-game....

The cast so far:

Darvyl, human fighter. Variously employed. (pat512)
Darthen, half-elf urban ranger / security specialist Good, with comments. (TheOcho)

Keliwyn, elven diplomat, rogue. (Billazbub)

Inigo, human warrior-priest of Asmodeus. (Radavel)

Arando, arcane caster and office clerk. (Dan)
Jeorik, human fighter Good. (Wicht)

Chris Mortika's NPC to be introduced a little later.

Jeorik is traveling with his mule, Pax, but is otherwise alone.

My plan was to head into Korvosa, find a nice but inexpensive place to stay and ask around after his uncle(s).

Money wise, he will likely be keeping his ears open for a job as well.

If you think it would make more sense, story wise, to head first to citadel Vraid, that's fine, otherwise anywhere in Korvosa is fine. I don't know a whole lot about the city in-character or out-of-character. It has a monarchy and different wards is most of what Jeorik knows. :)

I see the initial post up. Do we wait for our names to be called, or respond to it now?

Do you? becuase I can't see it. Paizo crashed as I submitted the post.

I will be writing a short bit for each of your charcters. If you want to start posting in character feel free.

Survivor's Salvation

Okay. All systems go. Including this hot new DM alias. Sorry about the lame adventure title. I blame the Paizo boards, but it was probably user error. Premature posting.

Dark Archive

I'll post later when I get home. Can't read the spoilers using the browser at the office.

Don't worry. All guys have that problem at some point. It's ok. Really.

You say good with comments, but I don't see anything new. There was a spoiler tag for Darvyl. Maybe you meant to put comments beside his name?

Sorry, bad editing. Darthen's good. No comment.

Thom, thanks for the NPCs at the temple. Iñigo instantly dislikes them and is already plotting their downfall, preferably cleaning latrines with their toothbrush. :D

Thom - Did you ever rule on Keliwyn having a scimitar? Either way is fine with me, but as I mentioned, I thought the scimitar might add some flavor since we already have a couple of melee types.

Though note that at least one of the melee types wields a polearm!

Yes to the scimitar. Works for me.

Oh you're very welcome. Glad you like them. You might be thanking me some more shortly.

By the way, can I coax the names of two contacts with the Hellknights out of you? Short descriptions, names, case summaries? Just drop them in your background.

I'll post those two contacts later probably in twelve hours from now. :D

Sorry, guys, especially Pat.

Seems they are on vacation for awhile. More importantly, how are those Patriots? :D

On vacation? The NY (football) Giants beat Tampa Bay and play the Cowboys Sunday. As for the Patriots, I don't even have to check the scores. When they lose, a third of the stars in the sky will fall, and Angels will sound trumpets, blah, blah, blah.

Doh! I was thinking of the Pats/Giants game last week. Which was a good game. Not to mention the Steelers/Jaguars game over the weekend. I brain farted on them being out of the playoffs.

Thom, I apologize that I'll be late in posting the contacts you requested, work is really taking much of time. A lot of labor unrest that I have to attend to. Thank you for your understanding.

No problem, Radavel. Been out of touch myself although I did catch a break and finished work earlier than I expected tonight. Y'all don't have to wait til Wednesday if you're real fast.

Wow, I just realized I've got the party separated. It'll be so easy to pick you off one by one. Who will I start with?

Me it looks like. :)

But its way past time I hit my pillow so I'll have to find out in the morning I guess. :(

Dang, I went to bed literally about 5 minutes before the posts showed up!

OK. This is spoilered just to save space. Contains my take on the layout of the major districts of Korvosa which is pretty vague as they haven't published much yet. Good for anyone who does have Pathfinder 4.

Spoiler:
Right, Korvosa. Without a map we'll just have to wing it. Based on the Pathfinder Journal in #4 I imagine a good portion, or even the bulk of the city lies north of the Jeggare River. The city has "nearly a dozen bridges" and is divided by the River and Strait of St. Alika into seven districts. The river divides at least once because one district is described as an island.

From the north to the south

Thief Camp -- not a district really. A shanty-town and market place for nomadic Varisians and Shoanti.

Between Thief Camp and the Wall of Erodred is an area of increasing urbanization and development. Home to inns for travelers, a market place, and refuge for Cheliaxian sqatters and the working poor.

The wall of Erodred mark the northern limit of the city.

1. North Point District, well to do non-noble old town families in manses. Mostly residential.

The Infernal Wall separates North POint from North Gate.

2. North gate. This district is the seat of city government, banking. Inhabitants, "Gaters" also well to do and influential.

3. Mainshore. Old money.

4. Heights District. University of Korvosa. Avenue of Arms runs along waterfront. Northwest of Midlands. Wide treelined boulevard.

5. Midland district. "Bustling, cosmopolitan. " Restaraunts, clubs, markets, the better shops. Also holds the Korvosan Guard's HQ, and offices for the "Beloved Sable Knights" and Hellknights. (Order of the Nail)

6. Endrin Isle. (Old Korvosa) A ghetto for the poor and neglected.

To my mind that still leaves a working waterfront district to be defined. Warehouses, docks, etc. The Heights mentions a waterfront, but doesn't sound very commercial.

If any of you have different ideas from your reading of PF#4 chip in. I'll try to keep descriptions open so that we contradict as little as possible when they describe things in Crimson Throne.

Earthquakes, insurrections, insomniac births. What an interesting life you lead. :D

Seriously, no problems for me, take your time. If you have time and inclination-- How bad is "labor unrest" in the Phillipines? Is it coal-miner-call-out-the-state-police-and-have-an-armed-conflict-unrest like in the early days of the US labor movement or is it mostly guys placidly walking a picket line while a bunch of white collar guys hammer out a deal in a closed room while periodically sniping at each other in the press?

Skip spoiler to avoid a semi-political flame:

Spoiler:
I've worked both sides and am generally pro-union, because I think that without them we'd be back to 60 hour weeks on subsistence wages.

But, I also think many unions bite the hand that feeds them. I'm in and out of a lot of plants and some work rules are ridiculous. Also, in the global economy, its unrealistic to think that the average American is going to increase his real wage. Even maintaining that wage will be a stretch.

Also, I described Inigo (can't get the tilda right, sorry) thusly in one player's spoiler, "He patrols with the HellKnights and has a reputation as bad as the HellKnight's for instant, violent, "justice". " Fair?

Comes from wishing to live an interesting life, not realizing that is a curse.

Skip spoiler to avoid a semi-political flame: ** spoiler omitted **

The labor unrest is confined to people picketing before the gates of the company that I represent.

However, there are some deadlocks in the countryside that have escalated to the point where both sides have taken to using arms to settle their differences. There was this one incident where the personnel manager of an arms manufacturer was gunned down as he was exiting the gates of the plant where he was working. By I am talking, here of the exceptions rather the general rule.

Most labor disputes are resolved through mediation or lengthy litigation.

Spoiler:
I used to work for my country's labor department and would have probably have stayed there had it not been for the very low salary that I was receiving. After two years, I immediately transferred to the private sector, where I have remained for the past four years.

Fairly accurate, yes!

Will input contacts in a few moments, have recharged my creative energies. :D

EDIT: Posted the Contacts already. Ready to game again :D

Inigo:

Morten smiles at your reply. He steps around the desk, takes your hand and looks down at you, speaking softly, " Thank you. The matter is simple. His name is Vertus. Just offer him the best service you can. As if he were your superior -- in Cheliax . Each evening or sooner if it is important, report to me. I've chosen you because you will not be cowed by him like the others. Go."

you'll find him in the garden after my next post to Keliwyn and Darvyl.

Everyone, I'm glad you're all here. I hope you're all having a good time. It's hard to believe we've been going almost 2 weeks. I've been trying to get as much general description of the city in as I can and keeping plot stuff in spoilers.

I'd like to apologize for uneven levels of attention to your characters. Because of the way the situation is setup, some characters will have more to do than others. I promise it will be more even once we start Crimson Throne. Right now it feels like I'm running 6 separate campaigns and its hard to be completely even-handed. It's my own fault...

Anyway, I hope agian you're having a good time and will stick it out until we get to Crimson Throne.

No problem sticking it out on my end. I realized today that it has been 14 years since I last had someone else to DM a game. I should have turned to PbP years ago. :)

Survivor's Salvation

Wicht, nice roleplay to get out of a jam. Alert, firm, non-inflammatory. Those two were looking for easy pickings. Still, I wouldn't walk through Thief Camp alone again.

Yeah, that was sort of the decision I came to. At least not again with a mule heavily loaded with all my worldly goods. :)

I'm certainly sticking around. This has been alot of fun, and I'm interested to see how it all comes together. I also really like how the whole PbP thing really encourages roleplaying and character development.

Guys, especially Wicht and Dordhed. The game may slow up a little until Chris Mortika (Dorman Vander) makes a reappearance. I haven't heard from him in a while. Of course, I accidentally hijacked Jeorik and Arando. (Must plan better) Hopefully Chris is still available.
